Festive fledglings flying through December - the Flylady thread

TooStressyTooMessy · 30/11/2019 15:03

Welcome to the December (dare I say the Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

Any newbies are very welcome Smile.

**
Flylady also does Christmas missions which I will link to each day. They are really useful and nearer the time she does super missions which help you if you have not managed the regular missions. They are just there to help and as Flylady says... do not worry as you do not need to catch up, just jump in where you are Smile.

Link to the holiday cruising is

here

December’s habit is usually [[http://www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/december/
pampering yourself]] which is much needed this busy time of year. This can be as simple as taking two minutes to have a cup of tea, if long pampering sessions are unachievable.

The website will update to the December missions etc in the next few days so I will link it again if it is different.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Ghoulette for the November thread.

Ooh love the new username SC Smile. That really sucks that you were not allowed to vote. I have made political comments on other threads (about politics)!

Aaah well timetables often don’t work out do they Xmas Grin?! I felt very overwhelmed this morning with politics, Christmas, parents coming and as a result did almost NOTHING in the way of Flying. Did do a quick Christmas gift with DD1 for tonight though so that is good.

To do:-
Today is an organising day. Have had eyebrows done. Waiting for haircut. Then food shop. Tidy house quickly (should have done this morning already). Need to make timetable for this weekend. Need to do some other things.

Then school pick up. Girls haircuts. More things.

Sorry you are still feeling rough Expletive hope you have a better day of it.

So fantastic that Lil'Zoo loves her ballet Zoo! DD ended up going four times a week (plus extra toning classes) so be warned! Grin. Usually he

Thanks for kind words about dd - she is going through good bits and bad bits currently - symptoms worse at night.

Good luck Toostressy hope this w/e goes ok.

Waves to everyone else! And good luck with all the frantic prep!
Remember to try and take time out for yourselves too if at all possible (especially those of you with young 'uns).

ShamblyChristmas · 13/12/2019 10:14

Grin Laputa for many reasons ...a dark wardrobe with furries on the other side of it ...looks very inviting right now.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 13/12/2019 10:26

Thanks all, DD much better now she's getting more well. I think she finds the noise / fuss / stress of Christmas extra challenging and I need to remember that it will come out in odd ways.

Laputa, Shambly, I'll join you in the wardrobe if I may. My FIL will be on the phone crowing shortly and I'm not going to answer it. I went to bed in disgust after the exit poll last night, slept appallingly and was up again at 6. Very little flying done this morning. Having to shove washing through at a great rate as DS1 is coming home today with all his washing. He has apparently been going commando for 2 weeks because "washing is hard". Will buy nose pegs when posting a parcel later.

Today was always going to be a bit flat, as it should be my parents' Golden Wedding, but DDad has been gone 5 years in January. Off to meet DM shortly, we are all gathering around her, but we feel his absence very much.

Wingflaps and strength to all.

ShamblyChristmas · 13/12/2019 10:32

Those sorts of anniversaries are very hard Willow look after yourself Flowers

Grin about nose pegs! Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/12/2019 12:08

TooStressyTooMessy · 13/12/2019 13:14

Top flying tip for the day: when you have made Christmas gifts involving melted chocolate, do not leave a bowl of leftover melted chocolate in a bowl thinking you will sort it later. You will come home to rock hard chocolate in the bowl Xmas Hmm. Going to try to remelt the chocolate then wash it up.

I can only go to Narnia under Aslan. Because of my Turkish Delight addiction I would probably be the White Witch's leading minion.

Amazing zoo :o :o

Willow 💐💐💐

Went to a small home ed Christmas party today. DD’s last home ed event!

I made a reindeer :)

That’s it, it’s official the haughty corner is now accessible only through the back of the large, most likely extremely cluttered wardrobe.
