Cherry waves hello to November 2019. Fledgling Flylady thread for all.[smile]

Welcome to the November Flylady thread Fledglings! All are welcome here. A few of us have been around a while but everyone, newbie and lurking, is welcome to join in.

This is my first time running the thread so I hope other fledglings will alert me when I’ve got things confused or if I’ve left something out!! A busy month for us all with the holiday season looming next month…

Very simply Flylady is a zone-based cleaning system which we loosely follow. Everyone is different and has different rooms and life demands. There are five zones and at the beginning and the end of the month we usually straddle Zone 1 and zone 5.
(amend rooms to suit your house – I do the living and dining room together as it’s all one room in my house)
November
Zone 1 Hall, entrance/dining room (Fri 1 – Sat 2)
Zone 2 Kitchen (Sun 3- Sat 9)
Zone 3 Bathroom and another room (Sun 10- Sat 16)
Zone 4 Master bedroom/closet (Sun 17 – sat 23)
Zone 5 Living room (Sun 24 – Sat 30)

Pop onto the Flylady website to have a closer look but signing up for emails will probably lead to very many landing in your inbox. Also there has been some concern about securely downloading pdfs from the site. here

Flylady has an introductory scheme for newbies called Babysteps which is a light 31 day introduction to the system – dressing to shoes, shining your sink etc. What I like about Flylady is her emphasis on self care, her abhorrence of perfectionism and her adage that you’re never being behind in the system - just jump in. No need to completely clean your house before you start – phew! here

There is a morning routine and an evening routine to keep things ticking over and a weekly home cleaning hour to change bed sheets, mop, hoover, take out rubbish etc. The system isn’t brilliant for major decluttering so you might want to supplement with Kondo or another decluttering system. Flylady doesn’t want us cleaning all day so she is very keen on using a timer. Clean then stop!
In addition each day has a purpose: see the daily focus here

Monday: Weekly home cleaning hour (can be split into ten minute sections and spread over week) here
Tuesday: Plan and play (Menu planning, family event planning)
Wednesday: Anti-procrastination day
Thursday: Errand day
Friday: Clear out bags, fill car with petrol, date night
Saturday: Family fun
Sunday: Lift your spirit

Launch pad for guidance every day! launch pad

Habit of the month of November is meal planning. This is my Achilles heel! here

We have a lovely virtual naughty corner where we can all retreat – there are all manner of lovely things left there by thread members including fluffy pillows, warm blankets, tea, coffee, wine, delicious foods. This month there are plenty of candles to brighten the darker days.
There may be mention of Ned who started life as an autocorrection on the thread but who has now morphed into a virtual helper with a specialism in putting away laundry. Ned is borrowed by thread members from time to time when the going gets tough on Mount Washmore.
Most days we pop on to post our ta da list of what we’ve managed to do and have a bit of a natter.

zoo hope it goes well for ds at the doctor today.

Tbh it sounds like a good thing that the to do list was left to one side. You got lots of other stuff done.

Woolly Hugs thread is fabulous. I remember a lot of their projects esp the one for the late Zombie.

What is this wooly hugs you a speak of?

Foxes sounds like a fab day,I miss those with little ones !
SC how been productive.i bet there are bridesmaid DMS,I'm aware of bride ones....
KT maybe newbie needs to act their wage...
Chic fabtacular news

I fear bower maybe in a drunken stupor as my cask of brandy was a little on large side due to size of dog(scale and all that)
"Bower,come in pleaseeee"

E.d thanks.

Well doc was running an hour late, and D's freaked at sight of blood pressure check and had reading so hi they didn't add to his notes!!he's on super skinny side for age,so she wants him check for silent ceoliac.hes not happy about bloods so going to arrange docs to sort it

He has been rewarded with a second fat ball holder and bucket of fat balls so he can watch his beloved birdies in the garden

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/11/2019 16:43

Dd2 has seen head of year.he is issuing a "time out pass".this allows her permission sit outside lesson for a bit,or go to head of her houseand sit there for a bit.arrangements will be made to see school counselor and to review with head year next week.hes also told her he will ring me later today to keep me in the loop

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 20/11/2019 16:47

Woolly Hugs is a charity run by two MNers, it started maybe 10 years ago with MNers coming together to knit and crochet squares to be joined into blankets for bereaved MNers. It has grown a lot and not only makes these blankets but coordinates all sorts of other blanket projects, the ones Ghoulette has mentioned for women undergoing cancer treatment in memory of the poster Zombie and blankets for children from the Chernobyl area of Belarus who are still suffering from the aftermath of the nuclear meltdown. I've been crocheting for them for years now. Newbies always welcome!

Chic that sounds like good news on the medical front.

Tidy - well done to DD with the dancing!

SC - I think DMs would be my choice of footwear for being a bridesmaid now too, I've decided comfort definitely comes first in the footwear department nowadays.

Well, I called in sick today. I haven't been feeling too bad so long as I take it fairly easy but am coughing and spluttering and my colleagues wouldn't have thanked me for going in. Tried to work on my laptop but network problems restricted me, so I have been catching up on paperwork and done a couple of loads of washing (cat bedding which we don't do often enough Blush).

Hope you feel better expletive. No sense in going in if you feel rubbish and you might spread it around.

Kitchen is clean and laundry done - in shock here. Ds managed to bruise and cut his knee minutes after being dropped to school and didn't mention it to the staff so needless to say it's stiff now and soccer training won't happen

I keep thinking of international espionage when you mention the dossier SC but I know it's much more irritating/stressful humdrum than that.

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 20/11/2019 17:33

Every cloud has a silver lining Ghoulette re DS's knee.

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/11/2019 17:54

E.doooh.i can knit

foxessocks · 20/11/2019 18:43

Very sensible e.d never understand why people go into work when very clearly poorly! Same goes for school tbh.

Zoo did I miss what happened with your dd? Is she ok?

Sorry getting cut short as dd ready for her story, be back later!

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 20/11/2019 18:53

Zoo - you would be warmly welcomed! There are lots of knitters as well as crocheters. If you can knit 6 or 12" squares and sew the ends in that is all there is to it. When you have time have a look at their website www.woollyhugs.org/

KTCluck · 20/11/2019 21:24

Finally managed to catch up. I feel a bit bad about my work whinge earlier when everyone has so much going on. I’ve given myself a shake Blush

Well done to your DD tidy

Zoo you really sound like you’re doing such a good job supporting your DC without any support for yourself.

Get well soon Exp1etive, and everyone else feeling under the weather / stressed / crap.

I did most of my to do list although had to settle for a quick sweep up downstairs too lazy to carry vacuum back down. Aldi shop was a success. Didn’t forget anything (or at least not that I’ve realised yet) and was within budget for the first time in ages ever I got chocolates for DD’s advent calendar and most of the rest of a hamper for my aunt. Also got storage for DD’s room - similar to ikea kallax, good price and exactly the size I was looking for. I had to be a bit pathetic and get one of the assistants to help me get it in the car though. I just need to get some of the storage boxes now.

I’m off for an early night now ready for another busy work day tomorrow. Sweet dreams fellow fledglings!

ChicCroissant · 20/11/2019 21:28

I'm back!

zoo do you still have the Social Worker? Can she point you towards any support because you have so much on at the moment I really do think you need someone else in your corner Flowers

I hope we haven't lost Bower to the room of doom Sad

DD has a mouth ulcer where one of the new brace fixtures is rubbing, although it is improving. I did some ironing today, seemed like a good job to do as you can stop and visit the smallest room when needed. Hopefully tomorrow will be more comfortable (it was last time).

Well I can rest easy as everyone has shirts for tomorrow and have washed lunchboxes but not the baking trays from tea but feeling quite tired now so hoping for a relatively early night. Catch you tomorrow ladies.

ChicCroissant · 20/11/2019 21:29

Cross post with KT there, and it's always fine to vent. The atmosphere at work can really affect people and it's not something to underestimate (former HR worker here). You have my sympathy with that.

KTCluck · 20/11/2019 21:40

Thanks Chic. I missed you off my post, yay for the clear scan!

Sistercharlie · 21/11/2019 08:54

Good morning all!

Expletive and Tidy hope you are feeling a bit better today!

Tidy wow, huge congrats to your dd re dance exam! Bravo to her!

Chic so sorry you had to be poked around again at the hospital but that's really fab news about the results! Hope your dd's mouth ulcers less painful today; a bad one can be really nasty!

KTCluck don't apologise for venting - we all need to sometimes - and as Chic says a negative work atmosphere can be really draining. Flowers Can anything be done to turn it around? You sound really on top of the Flying btw! Star

Ghoulette yeah I forget to mention that SC stands for spy catcher Wink. "SC - licensed to dither" Grin Bravo re kitchen and laundry! Star. Hope your ds's knee not too painful this morning!

Zoo very pleased to hear your dd2 is getting the support at school that she needs!

Well Ted and Ned have come back without Bower (last seen in her craft room of doom ) so I'll send in the furries this morning (our "puppy" is one large nose attacked to an Exocet missile) Grin so perfectly suited to search and rescue!

Well I have stopped the rabbit in headlight dithering now and am being a bit more purposeful. Still an overwhelming amount of things to do , and an overwhelming amount of things (including social stuff) to do before I can get to the actual Flying bits but sometimes you have to take a step back in order to go forward I guess. And I've written a long detailed list to work through bit by bit. Wish nationality was just a case of one morning's work Tidy (long convoluted process) but thank you, it IS getting there slowly - I am doing a bit of work on it every day! Hope to hand in first week December.

Ta da yesterday:
stacked and emptied DW X 2
shine sink and wiped down sides
hand washed up other bits
2 long dog walks and 1 short one (DH travelling)
Made urgent mammogram appt
Made dentist appt for new year
Made doctor's appt for flu shots next week
Collected prescription
Firmed up gardeners appt
Sorted some urgent banking
Gathered up all cups, mugs, dirty clothes from upper floors and carried downstairs again (thank you dd)
Packed up two on-line shopping returns
Finished a hand made birthday card and prepped for
post
Nipped to supermarket
Made fantastic sweet potato veggie curry for tonight (even if I do say it myself!).
Made kedgeree for DD and me for supper; she was out for lunch. Didn't get soup for weekend done but bought frozen ingreds for it for once so don't have to do as much chopping
Did on-line present research (nearly there)
Bit of dossier work (photocopying)
Bit of "work" work, filing, photocopying and putting new insets in to reference books (yawn)
Dropped something off to parish priest, grrrrrrr, let's just say communication skills not his main strength
Two loads of washing but laundry stalled after that
Cleared up kitchen, cleaned bin, cleared out fridge, DW on again.

So, all in all, not much actual tidying and cleaning and decluttering which I s desperately need to do!

Going to try to get to it today but someone (neighbour who helped with dossier) is meant to be coming to tea tomorrow afternoon so I can thank in person, but he hasn't said yay or nay definitively just mumbled "maybe" argh - so need to bake in case.

On the same theme, people who promised to let me know about Christmas by end THIS week casually dropped in to conversation (about something else) they were going to let me know by end of month. When I queried it , they feigned ignorance!

Yargh! Wtf is wrong with people! If you receive an invitation you are free to simply accept or decline but don't do neither! They really ought to teach basic manners/etiquette in schools!

Have a good one everybody!

Sistercharlie · 21/11/2019 09:01

Oops, sorry, pressed post by mistake

DD did vety well in her presentation and at last minute arranged to go out with friends for lunch (school half day) to celebrate, but came home full of adrenalin and hangry because they had all chatted but had not eaten much. And she was grumpy because end of presentations/projects = count down to exams! Let's just say tin hats were required!

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/11/2019 10:48

E.d will have a look at that linky when I get a mo.thank you!
KT whatever stresses you can be big or small, but whatever it is venting here is most definitely never competitive.if it bothers you have a rant!!we don't judgeSmileno self shaking required!!
Chic we haven't got a social worker, but I strongly suspect after meeting with EHCP caseworker tomorrow that it will be suggested.i have a strong distrust of them due to D's failing to thrive as a baby I got blamed as I had PND and they accuse me starving himit was a very traumatic experience which I still carry extensive guilty feelings for 13 years later,so we shall see...

Today D's and I have frozen off our fingertips been out planting bulbs.its not frosty, just grey and cold, rains forecast for DAYS start tom so thought best crack on with it..we cleared/how chunk side house patch and planted a yellow bulb box(20 bulbs) from Morrison's(a mix of tulips,crocus,hyacinth,daffs)20 snowdrops in a nice group,10bluebells and 8 white alliums.hopefully they will grow and give us something beautiful to remind us springs on the way!!
He's now nursing hot chocolate and Ive put clothes we were wearing, plus loads more into wash(we got a bit muddyGrin)

Need blitz living room within inch of its life ready for caseworker to come tom about education healthcare plan and in afternoon hospital and outreach are introducing us to a potential tutor so lots strangers in the camp that we need to ensure aren't walking into anything less than pristine!

ChicCroissant · 21/11/2019 10:57

Morning! Bit of an admin morning here too, have sent emails and chased up paperwork. Ordered repeat prescription, 3rd load of laundry in at the moment. Some diary juggling for December needed too. BBL

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 21/11/2019 11:12

Still feeling pretty rough here, went back to bed after everyone else went to school and work, but couldn't get back to sleep. Have just made some toast and am watching one of my cats sleep, they seem to have no problems snoozing the day away.

I am thinking today would be a good day for online Christmas shopping but I am all out of ideas. Going to browse the Christmas threads for a bit of inspiration. Then do some crocheting.
