Cherry waves hello to November 2019. Fledgling Flylady thread for all.[smile]

Welcome to the November Flylady thread Fledglings! All are welcome here. A few of us have been around a while but everyone, newbie and lurking, is welcome to join in.

This is my first time running the thread so I hope other fledglings will alert me when I’ve got things confused or if I’ve left something out!! A busy month for us all with the holiday season looming next month…

Very simply Flylady is a zone-based cleaning system which we loosely follow. Everyone is different and has different rooms and life demands. There are five zones and at the beginning and the end of the month we usually straddle Zone 1 and zone 5.
(amend rooms to suit your house – I do the living and dining room together as it’s all one room in my house)
November
Zone 1 Hall, entrance/dining room (Fri 1 – Sat 2)
Zone 2 Kitchen (Sun 3- Sat 9)
Zone 3 Bathroom and another room (Sun 10- Sat 16)
Zone 4 Master bedroom/closet (Sun 17 – sat 23)
Zone 5 Living room (Sun 24 – Sat 30)

Pop onto the Flylady website to have a closer look but signing up for emails will probably lead to very many landing in your inbox. Also there has been some concern about securely downloading pdfs from the site. here

Flylady has an introductory scheme for newbies called Babysteps which is a light 31 day introduction to the system – dressing to shoes, shining your sink etc. What I like about Flylady is her emphasis on self care, her abhorrence of perfectionism and her adage that you’re never being behind in the system - just jump in. No need to completely clean your house before you start – phew! here

There is a morning routine and an evening routine to keep things ticking over and a weekly home cleaning hour to change bed sheets, mop, hoover, take out rubbish etc. The system isn’t brilliant for major decluttering so you might want to supplement with Kondo or another decluttering system. Flylady doesn’t want us cleaning all day so she is very keen on using a timer. Clean then stop!
In addition each day has a purpose: see the daily focus here

Monday: Weekly home cleaning hour (can be split into ten minute sections and spread over week) here
Tuesday: Plan and play (Menu planning, family event planning)
Wednesday: Anti-procrastination day
Thursday: Errand day
Friday: Clear out bags, fill car with petrol, date night
Saturday: Family fun
Sunday: Lift your spirit

Launch pad for guidance every day! launch pad

Habit of the month of November is meal planning. This is my Achilles heel! here

We have a lovely virtual naughty corner where we can all retreat – there are all manner of lovely things left there by thread members including fluffy pillows, warm blankets, tea, coffee, wine, delicious foods. This month there are plenty of candles to brighten the darker days.
There may be mention of Ned who started life as an autocorrection on the thread but who has now morphed into a virtual helper with a specialism in putting away laundry. Ned is borrowed by thread members from time to time when the going gets tough on Mount Washmore.
Most days we pop on to post our ta da list of what we’ve managed to do and have a bit of a natter.

Hoorah for sleep. I got more than usual, as DH took over with the non-sleeping girls after 10, both of them were driving me batshit (DD1 is on a melatonin break) and I felt pretty rubbish. Just trying to gather the energy to get up and ready, we have a free film screening this morning (and another tomorrow) as part of a schools festival.

Ghoulette1740 · 19/11/2019 09:26

Sistercharlie · 19/11/2019 10:45

Morning all!

Yay Tidy and Laputa glad you got some decent shut eye!

Oh Toostressy that's so sad about the funeral Sad. Well done MrTooStressy.

Enjoy your child-free day Foxes! Gosh, how did your dc get to be 5 and 3 all of a sudden Shock. Obviously, I have been aware of birthdays along the way but gosh time certainly flies!

Zoo I agree with Bower in that you need support yourself in order that you can help everyone else as you are the hub that gives everything turning! Flowers I know you hate asking but better that than getting ill yourself. Would the good lady vicar having any good contacts? Or any of the SEN services that are helping ds (although I know everything is stretched to breaking point)?

Absolutely freeeezing here too. We have two duvets on each bed now. It was so cold last night (radiators a bit hit and miss the higher up the house we go) I was tempted to wear a padded gilet over my pjs Grin. If it gets any colder we will definitely be wearing woolly hats to bed!

Thanks Bower. I've been so busy I forgot about the visitors but that's true they haven't been gone long I suppose. Don't feel quite so guilty now! It certainly explains why I have been feeling a bit crumped anyway which is reassuring in a way! And in return may I say that there shouldn't be an "only" (in the adverbarial sense!) in relation to your stress because as you know it can have seriously debilitating physical consequences and you need to take it steady. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better though but please go easy!

By the way, the visitors are coming back at Christmas (if not before) along with some other members of my family (if they finally let me know what they are doing) and it looks like I will be helping to organise a spring wedding! Absolutely thrilled and delighted for couple concerned esp as it is so unexpected but on practical terms it is ooooh and arrrgh all at same time as time frame so short!! Grin DD v happy to be asked to be a bridesmaid though! Smile

Hope this week not to onerous with your dh away Ghoulette. Mine is off to airport at 7 pm tonight for a few days.

What are you going to knit Expletive? No doubt Hills will be deeply in to the Christmas knitting projs by now!

As to Flying...

... didn't do power of three last night unless 1. prepping supper 2. eating supper 3. clearing away supper counts Grin

but ta da so far today is:
dd packed lunch
s & s
2 loads washing in
towels and pants from td folded
wm emptied and filled again
kitchen sink shone and sides wiped down
fridge cleared out and Dettoxed
bin emptied and cleaned and recycling gone
two cards written and delivered (not Christmas cards)
a parcel and a letter posted
sofa area in tv room tidied up
more dirty linen carried downstairs
dog walk

Just having coffee and then need to:

sort washing and put two more loads on
quick supermarket dash
make soup and supper for tonight
tidy up everywhere especially boudoir

Actually have a modicum of energy today and knees and wrists don't hurt as much as they did so hopefully can crack on a bit!

Have a good planning day everyone!

Tidyhomewannabe · 19/11/2019 12:48

TooStressyTooMessy · 19/11/2019 13:49

Hi everyone. Thanks again for all good wishes.

Hope you’ve had a nice quiet day foxes!

Ta da:-
Well I have achieved nothing in the house as I haven’t been in but...
Returned library books - still need to find one Confused.
Went into city centre as getting an extra small donut thing for DD1’s hair was a top priority and several people said try Claire’s. The lady in there was very helpful so I have the smallest ones they sell to try. They are smaller than the ones I have so I will have a try with those tonight. If no joy it will be the sock trick. So that was worth doing as didn’t want to risk ordering it online and then we would’ve a few days down the line if it still didn’t work.
I know lots of people don’t like this as vouchers have been given as a present but needs must at this expensive time of year so I used some leftover vouchers to buy DD1 a top she needs for her school play, also got a couple of other bits. Coffee and cake also on a voucher (the giver would have approved of this as she loves coffee and cake!). Had left over book tokens so got some kids presents and a lovely new work diary for 2020 which again was needed.
Shoes fixed. I’m sure they will break again as cheap Aldi ones but fixed for now.

Christmas present ordered for my brother. Pretty pleased with this one as he mentioned the other day he had a power cut and couldn’t find a torch. So have got him a wind up torch which will always work and no need for him to remember batteries. Am taking the risk that he will not have got round to buying a torch between now and Xmas!

So although I will walk into lots of laundry etc I feel I got lots done in town and most importantly got the hair stuff.

As soon as I get back I will hopefully have time to quickly reset the laundry but then I’ll need to go for school pick up.

Slightly more relaxed evening tonight as no swimming - simply can’t fit it in without a huge rush. DD1 can’t go anyway as she has a school thing and DD2 has a bit of a sore throat so I am not going to force it tonight. I have tap later but that is not for a good while.

What a ramble! Apologies to those who were not interested in any of that Grin.

Big wing flaps to all. Hope the film screenings went well Laputa.

SC, I think it is completely unrealistic to feel festive with the dossier hanging over you. I wouldn’t even try to have any festive feelings until after it is in Flowers.

LivingInLaputa · 19/11/2019 15:00

Film (Spider-Man into the spiderverse) was AMAZING, so so funny. Had pizza with two of my besties and all our kids after.

Bowerbird5 · 19/11/2019 15:12

In room of Doom. If not back later call Ned and Ted to get me out.Grin

lovely wedding news SC. Your house does sound cold up in the rafters. It is fairly nippy here today too. Have bought a Christmas present for my friend's cat. Hoovered and ironed everything today and unblocked the bathroom sinks with acidic solution that you can buy.

Husband is away until Friday. But I have two rounds of soccer practice and swimming to get through. School is off here on Thursday and Friday so I'll be busy.

Well done zoo, tidy and toostressy

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/11/2019 20:48

Didn't do any of my to do
Oh well

Did sort a lot more recipes, help D's with his latch hook horse kit and read 4chapters Harry potter to him!

Dd2 had a kale and cashew homemade pesto with pasta and roasted green beans, carrots and mushrooms.i had little cheese with mine😋
Little ones had lamb mince with cumin and mint in pittas with cucumber and lettuce(they were offered warm veg and couscous but wanted "a sandwichy tea"

DS has app at hospital tom,it's just a visit to paediatrician as part of the info being gathered for local authority for his education health care plan
He had rough session with OT today.shes realised he says doesn't trust her as he sees trust as not making someone feel sad/upset...we starting to realise there's lots things he doesn't grasp in same contextSad
Dd2 had massive panic attack at school today.was so upset had ask teacher if she might sit in corridor for a bit.thus us on back get anxious enough to sit out if classroom last lesson in Spanish, except today it was the first time she's had a sudden surging heart rate etc...poor thing couldn't deploy usual coping strategies.she has a "kit" in her bag things are getting so bad.it includes mints to suck, water, fidget spinner, bach flower rescue remedy and latest addition- mo doh(essential oil scented playdoh bought for D's but he finds smell too strong, she loves the relax one(smells like lavender))

She's ment be see head year tom as she didn't know what to do and was concerned that he would find out anyways and she rather seek him than other way around.he was busy today, but said will chat her tom.i have broken mum code and emailed him, explaining how bad things are getting(not organised, struggling complete homework and hardly revising anything despite mocks racing toward us.honest view of family life, incl rocky relationship her dad and the fallout of D's)I feel like I'm betraying her but she will either breakdown and admit all or do what normally does say everything fine and try deflect from it...

Enough of my word
Hope everyone's having a good evening

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 19/11/2019 20:55

Lovely news about the wedding SC. My yarn is mostly destined for Woolly Hugs projects, some merino to restock for the original WH blanket projects for bereaved MNers and a big stash of the acrylic we use for the Chernobyl blanket project. I usually put in a big online order once a year or so then buy odd balls in local shops if I need them in between times.

Zoo I would so like to come round and lend you a hand in lieu of support from your DP. Flowers. You are doing an amazing job of holding everything together for your DCs.

My battery is about to go flat so I can't post much more. I have come down with a cold and feel fairly shit so I have abandoned Flying for TV and crochet and will be having an early night.

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 19/11/2019 21:17

I have recently donated to WH, as a lady from my antenatal thread is getting a blanket! It is a lovely thing you all do making the blankets Star

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 19/11/2019 21:49

Yes, I spotted you on the WH thread Ive, I hope the blanket will bring comfort to your friend. I've been crocheting for WH for several years now and have made many friends as a result, its a lovely community.

Sistercharlie · 20/11/2019 07:39

Morning all Brew

Zoo I hope the head of year can give dd2 the support she needs. Sometimes you have to break the mum code Flowers

Bower hope you emerged last night!

Sistercharlie · 20/11/2019 07:42

Oh sorry, see Zoo has already sent in a search party for Bower! Hope we will find her relaxing by roaring fire in naughty corner sipping brandy! Grin

Sistercharlie · 20/11/2019 07:43

Expletive missed you are ill. Hope you feel much better soon!

Over and out Confused

Tidyhomewannabe · 20/11/2019 09:05

Morning everyone Brew

Sc good luck for this morning , hopefully by lunchtime, you'll be a step closer to finishing the paperwork then you can concentrate on other things, I think you're right about making that your priority to finish it otherwise it'll carry on playing on your mind BrewCake good luck for your daughter , let us know how she gets on .

Tidyhomewannabe · 20/11/2019 09:24

Opps hit post by accident!

Expletive & Ive well done on the crochet projects, I taught myself to do some crochet stitches whilst the kids were poorly but still haven't quite got the hang of it - much better at knitting.

Zoo hope today is a little less stressful and yay for washing machine working !!

Bower where are you? ............

Waves to foxes ghoul kt hazel and anyone else I've missed .

Tada
Lunches made
Breakfast
Kids at school
Breakfast pots done

I'm off to work soon, I should be pottering around but having a coffee instead Smile dd2 slept well again last night but she has passed her germs to me, every time I laid down last night I started coughing and I've got a temperature this morning - don't you just love it when the kids start nursery aka germ central! Going to take some paracetamol to get me through work and have a slower paced afternoon.

Dd got told that she passed her dance exam with honours ! We aren't sure on the percentage she passed with but it will be over 90 % to get honours I think, which is amazing! She will be awarded with her score and medal at the annual Christmas ball. I'm so pleased for her! Ballet & tap exams in 2 weeks time, which are a lot more difficult to pass so she's studying and practicing most evenings, my poor floorboards need reinforcing with the amount of jumping around she does .

KTCluck · 20/11/2019 09:26

I’ve been AWOL from the thread for a few days, as had two busy days at work. I love my job and my team, but there are a couple of colleagues who aren’t happy at the moment and, while I can sympathise, as they have both have a lot going on outside of work, they are being so negative about everything and bringing morale down. I hate tension and there’s such an atmosphere at the moment. There’s also a new colleague who is newly qualified, keen, and oh so confident. She trained elsewhere and, while i think it’s great to get new people with new ideas, the attitude is very much that everything we do at the moment is wrong and stupid Hmm. I’m waiting for it to blow up soon. I’ve been in such a grump so I’m pleased it’s day off day today!

Tada:
Cats and humans fed.
Beds made
DW and WM on
Clean clothes put away
Half upstairs homeblessing done (I tend to split it and do downstairs Friday or Saturday)
DD’s bedroom tidied and a drawer sorted out.
Been to shop for bread and milk.
Cleaned bannister of grubby fingerprints - predominantly DH and his hair gel Angry

Currently MNetting watching DD in the bath

To do:
The epic battle of clothing DD
Rest of upstairs homeblessing
Few pans to hand wash
Run vac over downstairs
Cuppa and catch up on the last few days of the thread
Big shop (tonight while DH is doing bedtime)

ChicCroissant · 20/11/2019 12:18

Sorry to be quiet, had another cystoscopy today so drinking lots and visiting the smallest room frequently you'd think I'd at least swish and swipe while I was in there but no This scan was clear though, which is absolutely brilliant news (especially as I don't need another one now!) so I'm thrilled!

Will catch up later and do some ironing until the school run/lunch.

foxessocks · 20/11/2019 12:56

Great news chic 😊
And also good news re dance exam tidy
Hope this morning was productive sc !

Having a day at home with ds today, mostly because I have no money to do anything! But it has been quite nice, we've played snap and read some stories and now we are going to make some cookies. Also sorted out the laundry pile, hoovered, cleaned the bathrooms and sorted out a few bits into charity bags / to sell.

All in all fairly productive and quite relaxing!
