Cherry waves hello to November 2019. Fledgling Flylady thread for all.[smile]

Welcome to the November Flylady thread Fledglings! All are welcome here. A few of us have been around a while but everyone, newbie and lurking, is welcome to join in.

This is my first time running the thread so I hope other fledglings will alert me when I’ve got things confused or if I’ve left something out!! A busy month for us all with the holiday season looming next month…

Very simply Flylady is a zone-based cleaning system which we loosely follow. Everyone is different and has different rooms and life demands. There are five zones and at the beginning and the end of the month we usually straddle Zone 1 and zone 5.
(amend rooms to suit your house – I do the living and dining room together as it’s all one room in my house)
November
Zone 1 Hall, entrance/dining room (Fri 1 – Sat 2)
Zone 2 Kitchen (Sun 3- Sat 9)
Zone 3 Bathroom and another room (Sun 10- Sat 16)
Zone 4 Master bedroom/closet (Sun 17 – sat 23)
Zone 5 Living room (Sun 24 – Sat 30)

Pop onto the Flylady website to have a closer look but signing up for emails will probably lead to very many landing in your inbox. Also there has been some concern about securely downloading pdfs from the site. here

Flylady has an introductory scheme for newbies called Babysteps which is a light 31 day introduction to the system – dressing to shoes, shining your sink etc. What I like about Flylady is her emphasis on self care, her abhorrence of perfectionism and her adage that you’re never being behind in the system - just jump in. No need to completely clean your house before you start – phew! here

There is a morning routine and an evening routine to keep things ticking over and a weekly home cleaning hour to change bed sheets, mop, hoover, take out rubbish etc. The system isn’t brilliant for major decluttering so you might want to supplement with Kondo or another decluttering system. Flylady doesn’t want us cleaning all day so she is very keen on using a timer. Clean then stop!
In addition each day has a purpose: see the daily focus here

Monday: Weekly home cleaning hour (can be split into ten minute sections and spread over week) here
Tuesday: Plan and play (Menu planning, family event planning)
Wednesday: Anti-procrastination day
Thursday: Errand day
Friday: Clear out bags, fill car with petrol, date night
Saturday: Family fun
Sunday: Lift your spirit

Launch pad for guidance every day! launch pad

Habit of the month of November is meal planning. This is my Achilles heel! here

We have a lovely virtual naughty corner where we can all retreat – there are all manner of lovely things left there by thread members including fluffy pillows, warm blankets, tea, coffee, wine, delicious foods. This month there are plenty of candles to brighten the darker days.
There may be mention of Ned who started life as an autocorrection on the thread but who has now morphed into a virtual helper with a specialism in putting away laundry. Ned is borrowed by thread members from time to time when the going gets tough on Mount Washmore.
Most days we pop on to post our ta da list of what we’ve managed to do and have a bit of a natter.

No you were here quite a lot. Especially considering you had extra stuff going on at home. It is always the way when you offer to do something I find.

zoo thanks zoo I knew you would relate to it😉

I came to bed just after 10 and left him watching the football. Bliss in my little nest.
There’s some left. It is good braising steak. The stout we had but was a bit strong. I’ll use snecklifter next time.
Wait till I make that chicken tomorrow! It will be bloody yummy. I’m going to do a tray of med veg roasted. Might spatchcock the chicken with garlic and herbs and I bought some more apples so will do something with that. Damn should have made mincemeat I haven’t got around to it yet.
Kitchen floor looks lovely and clean. I should wash it more often. He did it the last couple of times because my wrist and back were sore. Been at osteo costing me a fortune. Bloody school. She says it’s stress. GP says my dizziness and ears he would lay bet on - stress. Also palpitations and blood pressure. Right I off to read book if I can find it in this muddle of a bed.😚 I never made it this morning. Was restless last night.

I washed the kitchen floor which was filthy. DH doesn’t remove boots when going for logs or coal! He has had a little tantrum because I mentioned we had a lot of food. We went shopping to a local large butchers that has fish, fruit, veg and bread and cakes etc.
We bought new Bombay fish cakes x2 and a piece of lemon sole which was marked down. We ate that last night. Braising steak. Which I made into a slow cook with stout and we had baked potatoes and carrots.
A free range small chicken which we will have tomorrow. Four r ashes of bacon which we ate today breakfast/ brunch. Then he bought two slices of beef and ham after I bought a sausage a apple pie looks like a flan as lattice top. I planned out in my Head meals and bought veg to go with it and supplement the fridge veg. He is sulking because he realised and I made a comment. Apparently I am now to buy all the food and he isn’t coming shopping ever again. Why are men so bloody childish! Sorry rant over but I know at least zoo will be understanding this. And SC yours can be a Pita sometimes I think. Rant over! He also stood over me while I made stew. Then I didn’t put potatoes in because he asked me about them then I stupidly assumed he was going to put them in. Note to self - always check.

Oh thank you I was really worried that I wasn't as 'present' as I might have been on the thread due to various issues at home and work. I did enjoy it - I think it kept me sane. Thank you for doing this month's toostressy and if you need a hand let me know. Great intro on the other thread.

Another thank you Ghoulette. 🍷joined me in a glass. A job well done!

zoo me too re - ICT and I work in a school. I had to teach it one year so went out and bought two books and every week I would do the activity then a few days later, teach it. I wasn’t alone in being hopeless some of the older staff weren’t any better. It was like the blind leading the blind. I was chuffed if I got the IWB working as the class I was mostly in had a board that didn’t work for two years. The Yr 6’s were helpful when I went in there. They loved the fact they knew more. They were happy to teach rather than mock and amazed that we didn’t have computers in my school. I did put my school up once so I could show them three of the schools I went to. They loved that.

It seems to have been a busy day for everyone today. I have wrestled the covers back on the sofa. I think they may have shrunk a little 🤭as I put them on a 20 degree wash when I usually do them in cold water. They are lovely and clean though😄 and what were a bit sagging have gone a better shape. It is such a comfy sofa.

Mount
Washmore is no more I climbed that yesterday and completed it and now all dry.
Had to bring all the plants in by Summerhouse as it is so cold and frosty here. -4 I think this morning. DH brought them up while I trimmed off the frost bitten leaves. I had to re -arrange a few things in the kitchen but it has worked out. DH found an extension lead for me so I have lights on in my dresser.it is a Ducal with two long glass cupboards on either side of shelves. I keep my best things in there and CountryDiary plates of b ‘day months and some of the gifts from children. Like an angel from one girl who is now about 20.

Resolutely finishing this thread as it is still November!

Father Christmas wrapping is done, bar 3 things still in transit and 3 perishables that don't wrap. Feeling extremely pleased with myself!

Fabric advent calendar retrieved from loft along with scented indoor wreath, Christmas living room flowers and some material to try reusable wrapping with. Paper advent calendars sorted and breakfast waiting in the utility room. Tomorrow can now be December 1!

Cute dog willow. I’d love one but it wouldn’t be fair as we are out of the house a lot.

Productive day today:
Downstairs homeblessing
Living room window cleaned
Fire guard pulled out and log burner, hearth etc all given a thorough clean
Piles of random crap sorted and cleared
Booked fabric sofa and carpets in to be cleaned before Christmas, and got a price for out leather sofa to be restored as it was scratched to bits by the cats when they were younger. The quote is more than 4 times what we paid for it as it was bought as a nearly-new bargain at auction, but I’m tempted to go ahead as it’s a great sofa and he says it’ll look like new. (DH isn’t quite so enthusiastic.)
Dishes done, benches, hob and cupboard fronts wiped.
Brief meltdown as dishwasher seems to be leaking. Cleared out filter and hope that’ll sort it but I have my doubts.
3 loads of washing done. Basket is still full as DH as eventually sorted his wardrobe out. Unfortunately it’s on the sea-facing wall which gets the mould and he’s discovered a little-used and jam-packed drawer is all damp. Some things binned including several belts beyond saving, others just need a freshen up hence the full basket. He’s been ruthless decluttering though and has promised to get the unwanted things listed on eBay ASAP.
Top up food shop.
More Christmas gifts ordered (only got vouchers / chocs/ wine etc to get now)
I’ve also come up with a plan of what Christmas prep needs done and when, so I’m feeling in control. For now.
Budget for the month done.

We had a nice morning out for a walk and visiting a Christmas market. Relaxing afternoon after sausage and mash for lunch. Easy feast of beans on toast later I’m thinking!

Thanks for starting the new thread TooStressy. Can’t bring myself to post on it until December Grin

Midway through check in of Ta Das!
Morning routine
Emptied fridge, scrubbed it thoroughly, put everything back. Leftovers for dinner as a result!
OOD condiments thrown away and all jars recycled
Scrubbed the microwave in and out
Got to Tesco for Advent Breakfast and a few other bits to keep us going
DS3 doing a sterling job with washing (Saturday is His Day).
Just off to wrap for the jolly fat man, so I can say some of Christmas is done!

Oh, and FIL has suddenly announced he thinks he'd like a smartphone from us for Christmas, when we have a max budget of £50 (and that's more than my mum and brother combined!). This could be fun.

Sorry Toostressy didn't read down far enough - rushing today.

So sorry to read about the difficult events in your family.. It is so very sad when families split; particularly when you have become close to both parties. It's happening to a colleague/good friend here at the moment and both the people involved are absolutely lovely which makes it harder and sadder - when you are on the outside - to comprehend. Flowers

Glad to hear you get the stressful bits of hosting out of the way before Christmas etc so hopefully yours can be more peaceful just with your immediate family x.
