Cherry waves hello to November 2019. Fledgling Flylady thread for all.[smile]

Welcome to the November Flylady thread Fledglings! All are welcome here. A few of us have been around a while but everyone, newbie and lurking, is welcome to join in.

This is my first time running the thread so I hope other fledglings will alert me when I’ve got things confused or if I’ve left something out!! A busy month for us all with the holiday season looming next month…

Very simply Flylady is a zone-based cleaning system which we loosely follow. Everyone is different and has different rooms and life demands. There are five zones and at the beginning and the end of the month we usually straddle Zone 1 and zone 5.
(amend rooms to suit your house – I do the living and dining room together as it’s all one room in my house)
November
Zone 1 Hall, entrance/dining room (Fri 1 – Sat 2)
Zone 2 Kitchen (Sun 3- Sat 9)
Zone 3 Bathroom and another room (Sun 10- Sat 16)
Zone 4 Master bedroom/closet (Sun 17 – sat 23)
Zone 5 Living room (Sun 24 – Sat 30)

Pop onto the Flylady website to have a closer look but signing up for emails will probably lead to very many landing in your inbox. Also there has been some concern about securely downloading pdfs from the site. here

Flylady has an introductory scheme for newbies called Babysteps which is a light 31 day introduction to the system – dressing to shoes, shining your sink etc. What I like about Flylady is her emphasis on self care, her abhorrence of perfectionism and her adage that you’re never being behind in the system - just jump in. No need to completely clean your house before you start – phew! here

There is a morning routine and an evening routine to keep things ticking over and a weekly home cleaning hour to change bed sheets, mop, hoover, take out rubbish etc. The system isn’t brilliant for major decluttering so you might want to supplement with Kondo or another decluttering system. Flylady doesn’t want us cleaning all day so she is very keen on using a timer. Clean then stop!
In addition each day has a purpose: see the daily focus here

Monday: Weekly home cleaning hour (can be split into ten minute sections and spread over week) here
Tuesday: Plan and play (Menu planning, family event planning)
Wednesday: Anti-procrastination day
Thursday: Errand day
Friday: Clear out bags, fill car with petrol, date night
Saturday: Family fun
Sunday: Lift your spirit

Launch pad for guidance every day! launch pad

Habit of the month of November is meal planning. This is my Achilles heel! here

We have a lovely virtual naughty corner where we can all retreat – there are all manner of lovely things left there by thread members including fluffy pillows, warm blankets, tea, coffee, wine, delicious foods. This month there are plenty of candles to brighten the darker days.
There may be mention of Ned who started life as an autocorrection on the thread but who has now morphed into a virtual helper with a specialism in putting away laundry. Ned is borrowed by thread members from time to time when the going gets tough on Mount Washmore.
Most days we pop on to post our ta da list of what we’ve managed to do and have a bit of a natter.

Thanks Tidy, I’m more worried about where to drive and park Blush than the actual funeral atm which feels very selfish of me. It is one of those days of driving to a lot of different places. I think once I have found the place and parked I will be able to concentrate more on the actual service.

That’s great for your DD then Smile.

Yes I think without a donut I would be fine but dance teacher saw one attempt and said use a donut to make it bigger. Will have to practice and cover as best I can I guess. Should have said it is a particular style needing little buns which is mainly why the donut is a struggle. One bun with a small donut would be just about ok.

LivingInLaputa · 18/11/2019 09:49

Aw stressy sorry about the funeral. Thanks

Zoo he never fails to astound me with his selfishness Angry I can’t even! I wish you had someone to help you :(

Nervous about this afternoon. Need to stick the dryer back on most likely, make that phone and print some home ed stuff (we’ve had a very long half term break Blush completely overwhelmed with all the medical appointments and meetings and new meds for both of us... DH now on morphine and very spaced out).

But first, breakfast and meds. I’ve managed to take my supplements and beta blockers every day since starting the ADHD meds too so that’s good. I need to get more consistent at times I think as some days I’m up late, but then I’m reluctant to set an alarm on those nights where I would otherwise actually get more than four hours sleep. Hmm

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 18/11/2019 10:17

Hope the funeral is ok stressy

As the weather if getting colder i just thought i would mention that people may be eligible for £140 towards heating over winter. Its called 'warm homes' and alot of providers do it but you need to apply even if you have had it in the past. For those on low incomes / with small children / people at home who are unwell etc

Tidyhomewannabe · 18/11/2019 10:48

Too maybe use the sock technique - old small sock, chop the toes off, roll to make the donut shape , i would try a baby sock maybe ? Never used the technique before but worth a go.

Laputa hope all goes well this afternoon!

Hello all.

Thinking of you today Toostressy. Flowers

[And good luck with bun twirlage!]

Hope you are both having a better day today I've and Zoo Flowers Flowers Brew Brew Cake Cake.

Tried to post a couple of time's over the w/e but first post was lost and second was interrupted!

Tidy If your dd is primary school age up to about 12 yrs then I recommend "My Learn to Sew" book by Janet Barber (available second hand on Amazon). It is a bit dated (it is the book I used to learn to sewat my prep school but hey, 70s styling is back on trend!!) and it is excellent in that it teaches a child all the essential techniques they need in order to hand sew well and correctly, step-by-step through different projects so they don't realise they are learning ifyswim (and they introduce a bit of machine work at the end of the book). Some nice little toy projects in there but you might want something more up-to-date. Hope you can catch up on sleep soon!

I hope this afternoon is going ok for your Laputa you are doing brilliantly Flowers

Zoo fab list and yellow bulbs sound cheery!

Drowning in laundry here too I've although I have no idea why!

Glad you worked out what was making you feel ill Hungryhazeleyes!

The carols and the allotment sound lovely Bower and Expletive!
So glad you are feeling a bit better Bower and I sound at vaguely the same stage as you with Christmas planning Expletive which is reassuring for me (but possibly not as reassuring for you seeing how I dither and everything! Wink Grin) anyway good luck with continuing prep and getting it all done with increased work hours!

Congrats on earning guilt free relaxation KTCluck and for laying down friendship boundaries QueenofOversharing!

Arf at cushion drumming Ghoulette (at least it's quiet! Grin)

Sorry can't scroll down any more atm but waves to all Fledglings!

Disastrous Friday. Succumbed to stress/feeling overwhelmed and didn't get enough done (owing to extreme faffing on my part) except shopping on-line and a bit of washing and cooking and we went out in the evening. And stress ate too much [gah!]. Such stupid pointless behaviour! Honestly, if I could have just had the self discipline to settle to 3 x 30 mins of solid tidying I would have felt better but left for wreck2 with everything in a total mess and totally disorganised and everyone tetchy as a result!

Dh is good at his high stress job because he has the ability to compartmentalise (which admittedly drives me mad sometimes!) but he is able to focus on just what he is doing at that exact moment in time to the exclusion of everything else. I on the other hand when stressed, either do an awful ostrich-head-in-sand act or run around like a blue-arsed fly achieving little!

I am not feeling Christmassy at all atm because I am still wrestling with this tortuous nationality dossier thing which is a huge mill stone around my neck until finally submitted, and there are papers all over my office, we are very financially stretched owing to wreck2 renovation (which is going well but there continue to be lots of bumps in the road and it requires so much time and energy) and I am getting very stressed about Christmas prep/visitors who are still not telling me their plans oh and I have lost control of wreck1 totally which is a total shit pile frankly, and there is a lot going on with dh's family (as ever) which is sort of good news (I think) but which may involve shelling out a lot of money on our part (again). And I have to "run up" a dance costume for dd for school Christmas dance performance and a Desdamona costume for end of this month theatre production (dd mentioned it for first time yesterday aargh)!

On the positive side ...lovely bright and sunny one and a half-days at wreck2 with dhorse and bulb planting and early Sun morning sitting in back of freezing remorque watching dd having monthly x lesson with amazing tutor. DD fell off on way to jumps (horse was a bit too fresh - different horse not dhorse) which was not a good start but she was thankfully unhurt (but very muddy). Then mad dash back to town (awful coming back in to scummy house) where I spent literally all afternoon doing tortuous school rep work which is made a thousand times more difficult because of GDPR regs because can only contact other parents through closed internet hub and can't copy and paste anything either! Aargh However did feel better for getting it done.

Have only done 'work' work so far today (with a bit of judicious Internet Christmas shopping thrown in) and it's freezing and hardly light here (and still a mess) so rather depressing but when I get the chance I will try and follow I've's good example and do a power of three or some such!

Frantic waves to all (and I hope to post some actual Flying ta das later! Confused)

Zoo I am so Angry on your behalf words are not sufficient!

Sistercharlie · 18/11/2019 15:14

Btw, forgot to say, believe it or not, dd is currently practising this at school for Christmas dance rock performance. She is doing the "ceinture tour" and the entrée costale! Grin Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/11/2019 15:54

SC I used to something similar with zoolets to venture tour!they were toddlers at time and loved it!!(would break back trying it any of them now!!)

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/11/2019 15:55
Sistercharlie · 18/11/2019 16:09

Grin 😜 Zoo happily dd has a big strapping teenage lad at school who is dance partner. Think dh and I would put our backs out practising that with her! Fond memories of "this is the way the ladies ride" with dd as a toddler though! Grin

Your supper sounds yum as ever. We are having cold pork (from yesterday eve's roast) and baked spuds and salad tonight.

Cold here too - no carpet anywhere! Brrrrrrrrrrr!

Sistercharlie · 18/11/2019 16:15

Speaking of Billy, where are Ned and Ted currently?
I hope they haven't been at the Christmas brandy ...

Sistercharlie · 18/11/2019 17:47

Sorry Zoo don't know where that sticking-out-tongue emoticon came from Confused

LivingInLaputa · 18/11/2019 17:51

Meeting was ok. Turns out I don’t really need to do much at the moment as Cagletini is under 3. We just talked about confidence building and well being and all that stuff.

zoo that's awful Shock Angry.

I'm home alone til Friday. Busy week. I worked at home today but by the time i'd finished office work I couldn't see the bits on the floor. So hoovering is postponed to daylight tomorrow (again). I need to pick up some bits and pieces Christmas wise for the German contingent.

Last washing load has gone on so I'll iron tonight and get stuff put away. Seriously impressive ta da lists and wow the menus are making me hungry.

I've lost track of how Ted originated but Ned is currently charging in his cradle and is ready to assist.

Can sympathise with faffing SC. Don’t forget you have had loads of visitors. I have no excuse except the stress and bad back. Went to bed late again was watching flash mob and our MD on you tube. Why am I doing this. I was always going to bed at 10-10:30pm. I woke up at 7:40 and made myself get up then realised I had appointment for Osteopath.
Went to the Range on the way home to get a few things.

Made lunch. Mug of soup and snack bits for lunch.
Cleaned out Henny Penny and made her a big warm bed as it was freezing here, foggy and forecast -5 tomorrow at 5am. I got some more straw for her. We discovered mice had got in the bird food in the shed. So fat balls out and loads of seed in feeders then the rest in two large containers and brought in for now.DH brings logs and coal in and I don’t need to lug those in.
Been lazy today. I need to sort myself out.

Zoo is there no one who would help you. I know you are probably like me and hate asking but I would never mind helping someone in such circumstances. No wonder your DD felt annoyed to see you struggling like that and all he needed to do was jump in his car and pick you up.
Nothing on tomorrow so plan to start on room of doom. It means putting lots in boudoir so think I will swap rooms. If I do two days in there it should make a difference.

LivingInLaputa · 18/11/2019 19:35

Forgot to say the singing sounds great bower, Christmas is the time I reeeeeally wish I was in a choir! I make do with playing them on the piano but it’s not the same.

foxessocks · 18/11/2019 21:13

Sorry not caught up properly. Such a busy day today, work and then helping at ds nursery and then an orthodontist appointment!

SC I liked looking at those dance moves, not that I could do any of them! I like chucking the dc around trying to copy the strictly dancers but have to say even they are getting a bit heavy now at age 5 and 3 Grin

Tidyhomewannabe · 18/11/2019 22:21

Tada
Lots of stuff , I've only just sat down with a cuppa. After only having an hour or so sleep last I've got my fingers crossed that all the little people sleep tonight !

Night everyone .

TooStressyTooMessy · 18/11/2019 22:41

Fingers crossed for you Tidy and for everyone else for as restful a night as possible. Thanks for all the well wishes today. The funeral was beautiful. Very sad as she was youngish and left children behind. But it was a perfect send off for her.

DH cooked which was great. Just finished washing up a few bits, need to reset laundry then plan to have a glass of wine and collapse.

Thanks also for tips for buns. I am going into town tomorrow to try to find a super small donut and if not will try the sock trick.

Tidyhomewannabe · 19/11/2019 06:37

Morning everyone Brew

Glad the funeral went ok stressy, Thanks

Tada

A FULL NIGHTS SLEEP !

foxessocks · 19/11/2019 06:45

Hooray tidy!

Going to be a chilly morning - wrap up everyone!

I have a whole day of working today and no errands or anything I'm quite looking forward to being by myself the majority of the day Grin
