Totally random one... I usually do mine for day morning so things are dry for the weekend but wondering if there is a better way of doing this!

DH does several loads a day. This isn't the 1950s
Who mentioned what decade it is?
The OP was addressing anyone that opened the thread.

Every single thread about a household chore someone has to throw in comments like this!!

whywhywhy6 · 28/09/2019 22:04

Daily. Probably 10 loads a week.

Palaver1 · 29/09/2019 06:00

Daily but with a system
Darks daily
Lights once a week mostly on Saturday
Whites Friday
Ironing everyday
Hand wash on Sunday bras and a few delicate tops, need to hand wash my delicate jumpsuit etc
I do not use dry cleaners.
I never have a basket or heap of unironed clothes wash, dry, iron, put away.

TeenPlusTwenties · 29/09/2019 12:32

Friday evening / Sat am for main clothes so can be ironed on Sunday over The Archers and be ready for school.

Random other times when I can be bothered for other stuff.

I don't think it is at all necessary to wash things after every use.

theneverendinglaundry · 29/09/2019 15:06

Every bloody day but I have a system.

Monday - clothes

Tuesday - bedsheets

Wednesday - towels

Thursday - clothes

Friday - teatowels, cleaning cloths, face wipes

Saturday - clothes

Sunday - odd loads (today is jackets and hoodies)

I dont have a dryer, I use a heated airer.

simonisnotme · 29/09/2019 16:08

when i get round to it Grin or when theres enough to wash

Crystal87 · 29/09/2019 16:11

Every day, usually at least twice. I have a gang of kids though.

helloautismresources · 30/09/2019 17:17

Washing and drying two loads at least, every single day. Confused There's five of us in the house, plus a doggie.

BUT I remove it from the dryer or outside, fold it and then leave it in piles by person for the week. Then one day a week (usually a Monday) I will sort. What's to be hung up goes on hangers, anything for the drawers stays folded, swim stuff is kept separate, so are uniforms, towels and bedding stored in the airing cupboard... then it all goes away.

Undies and socks are the bain of my life and I generally only sort these once a month ShockWink

Tweetingmagpie · 30/09/2019 22:21

Three loads a day (at least!) here!

Answerthequestion · 30/09/2019 22:41

Usually Thursday, Friday, Sunday. Thursday kids about 3 loads. Eldest goes to the gym every day and plays football 2-3 times a week and appears to need an entirely new set of kit for each activity. Friday DH And me. Usually do towels then too. Sunday another few loads of kids and sheets.

I dry 90% in the dryer and use a short wash so can get 3-4 loads washed and dried in an evening

Why do people do laundry every day? Genuine question as I’m tackling my laundry habits

1- don’t you sort your laundry by colour ?
2- doesn’t it consume electricity and water to wash more than necessary?
3- do you wear something only once before washing ?

I’m so confused. For me I sort by colour and fabric type. We only have underwear that we chuck in the Laundry daily. PJs and outfits get reworn 2/3 times before they’re chucked in the basket. Baby and kids clothes is same, I clean any spill by hand straight and it’s reworn 3 times or so before in the laundry, so I wash outfits once a week sorted by colour (lights and darks). Underwear and socks gets washed once a week as we have enough to last. Bedding and towels once every two weeks or so. I used to seperate bedding from towels but I don’t really anymore because we reuse our own towels.
Cleaning things like mop head and cleaning cloths get washed when needed, once every 2 weeks.

So that’s 3 washes max per week.

Redspider1 · 07/10/2019 21:38

Whenever needed, don’t have a wash day. On average every other day but definitely both days at the weekend as I work in the week.

Pandaintheporridge · 07/10/2019 21:48

I'm so confused Ah, bless.

GADA9215 · 11/10/2019 08:39

Every bloody day with two kids. So much washing 😳 school uniforms etc. It’s never ending.

Jarstastic · 13/10/2019 17:25

Seems most days. Have multiple wash baskets so everything is by colour or type and whatever's looking full gets put on.
Weekly sheet changing day has multiple washes so probably averages to 1-2 washes a day.

melj1213 · 13/10/2019 23:53

Saturday night and Sunday for me. DD lives with me every other week so I only have to wash her stuff every other week.

Because there is usually only me I rarely have enough clothes to make separate washes worth it (I literally own 4 white items so it would be wasteful to just do a wash just for them) so unless something is delicate/woolen etc then I throw everything in together and so far I have had no issues.

I wear a uniform for work days so theres only uniform and maybe one or two other outfits (tshirt and leggings for when I'm at home and a pair of jeans and a couple of tshirts for going out and about) that need washing most weeks.

Saturday night is my last shift of the week (I work Tues-Saturday) so I throw all my work stuff (2x work pants 5x work shirts) in on a delayed wash once I get home from work at 11pm Saturday night. If theres only a couple of other clothing bits to wash I'll throw them in too. It is set to do the wash in the early hours so it is ready to be hung out/put in the dryer first thing Sunday morning. Sunday I do sheets and towels (when it's just me I throw sheets and towels in on the same hot wash, when DD is here theres enough for two separate sheets/towels washes)

When DD is with me I usually do 2 extra washes on Sunday - one of uniform and one of clothes - so I know that she has uniform for Monday morning (she leaves from my house and goes back to her dad's after school on Mondays) and she can put all of her things away on Sunday evening so she knows where they are when she comes home the following week.
