Totally random one... I usually do mine for day morning so things are dry for the weekend but wondering if there is a better way of doing this!

QueenMabby · 21/09/2019 08:16

Thursday - clothing
Friday - sports/gym kits
Saturday - school uniform/clothing
Sunday - FREEDOM!!

CherryPavlova · 21/09/2019 08:16

Various numbers in house but most often just two of us. We launder daily.

QueenMabby · 21/09/2019 08:17

Plus several quick wash loads of ds’s Sports kit as he plays loads of hockey and is really stinky

Ginfordinner · 21/09/2019 08:18

"How does anyone create enough washing for several loads a day?!"

I wondered as well. There are only 3 of us (soon to be 2 as DD is off to university). Bedding and towels get washed once a week. Obviously we all put clean underwear and socks on every day, and clean T-shirts/shirts, but jeans and skirts will get worn more than once before washing.

Juog · 21/09/2019 08:23

Whenever I get a basket full, whenever theres more than 3 dirty t towels( I like to boil wash those) theres only me and dh but he gets through more clothes than me,I have cut down on ironing though, long gone are the days when I ironed everything.

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/09/2019 08:25

It's mostly sports kit for us. School PE kits (secondary) football kit, hockey kit, gym/running gear plus I have an allotment and change for that, those clothes get sweaty and dirty. We do approximately one load of clothes a day.

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/09/2019 08:30

All day every day. Me, dp and 5 dc inc a baby and a toddler!

MancaroniCheese · 21/09/2019 08:31

DD has school uniform and dances three times a week plus weekend clothes - 2 loads

DS (works on building sites etc) has three lots of uniform to last the week (has to be washed separately from other stuff due to fibres from loft insulation etc), plus clothes for evenings and weekends - 3 loads

Me - 7 days, 7 outfits - 2 loads

One bath towel each, two hair towels each and a set of bedding each = 3 loads

I don't know how people manage to do two loads a week.

combatbarbie · 21/09/2019 08:35

Darks (uniforms and work clothes) and whites are done on Friday evening/sat morning...... Towels usually a Wed and a colours when basket is full but I delay time the machine the night before so it finishes as we get up and gets put straight on line or airer weather dependant.

Strongecoffeeismydrug · 21/09/2019 08:35

Daily

Lweji · 21/09/2019 08:38

That will be dependent on the number of people in the household and what they do.
But the towel washing threads may also explain it. Grin

It's only me and DS, so I'll do
Resistant colours 1-2 (bedding, towels, others)
Resistant whites 1
Other colours
Wools etc

So, 4-5 per week, usually at the weekend.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 21/09/2019 08:50

Depends on the weather! If it’s nice enough to hang out ill try get through it all in a day so a few loads. If it’s wet outside and needs hanging up indoors then probably 3 times a week in between drying and putting away each load. There’s 4 of us, 2 adults and toddler twins. I wash my uniforms at the end of the week separate from everything else too.

Newearringsplease · 21/09/2019 08:58

My mum used to have a twin tub that she used to have to drag out from under the stairs and fill up in the kitchen, she only washed once a week on a Friday night. But now she has an automatic and washes when she needs to

acabria · 21/09/2019 09:20

Monday clothes (dark and light load)
Tuesday sheets
Wednesday bathroom towels
Thursday teatowels/cleaning cloths&towels
Friday pet blankets

Mumshappy · 21/09/2019 09:24

Toddler plus smelly teenager plus a dd8 that does loads of sports, swimming and dancing equals washing every day. I still have a backlog with this.

Longdistance · 21/09/2019 09:24

Depends how much washing I’ve got.
This weekend it’s not masses, but I do it over two days Saturday and Sunday. Rarely do it during the week as we’re at work. We have enough clothes for the week and have a 9kg washing machine and drier.
Lights, darks, colours. Dh does his own.

Sparrowlegs248 · 21/09/2019 09:25

Now that ds1 has started school I do 2 loads on Saturday, dark and lights. I'm usually able to fit my and ds2 clothes in with those. 1 towels, one bedding, 1 coloured if there's enough. But I don't do towels daily, or bedding weekly.

MitziK · 21/09/2019 09:36

Saturday morning, usually. I stuck the work clothes on last night for a change, so there's a bunch of DP's stuff in the tumble drier at present (using the line at 7am would have meant freezing my arse off whilst stripping the line of spider webs and getting wet feet/legs from dew, and then they won't even get direct sunlight until about 3pm at this time of year). The settee throw has just finished and I'll strip the bed in a minute.

After far too long not being able to afford a replacement washing machine, I'm rather enjoying having one that has 15, 30, 45 and 59 minute washes, compared to the previous one that took 3 hours for a single load - I'll be done with everything by the time DP gets in from work.

If something particularly needs doing during the week or has a spill that needs dealing with immediately, it'll get done there and then, though.

fancytiles · 21/09/2019 09:48

Omg wow! So much washing! It's just me and DH for now (baby coming in December) so I just do the whole lot usually 4-5 loads on a Friday. But imagine that will change when the baby comes!

Everyday - it's very dusty where we are so kids uniforms are filthy, plus it's very hot so we do get a bit sweaty! I used to work in a nursery so I was always covered in paint glue glitter etc so needed to was every day. Not so bad now as office based.

Littlechocola · 21/09/2019 10:02

We do a load a day. 2 adults, 3 dc.

Hopesorfears · 21/09/2019 11:05

Bigger kids wear bigger clothes which take up more room than toddler clothes. School uniforms get filthy and can be too dear to buy loads of spares for. Football playing dc get their trousers muddier than dc who like cleaner pursuits!

Hopesorfears · 21/09/2019 11:06

Plus, my standard wash on my new machine is over 2 hours long. Much easier to wash daily than to try to fit several 2hr+ washes in on one day.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 21/09/2019 15:04

On days that end in Y.

Truthfully, I’m not organised enough to wash everyday, though I need to be, which means I often do 3 loads in a day after a day or two of laziness.
