Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2019 08:54

Totally relate to that I've.evil mum gets everyone up 8_830 or they won't go bed a semi civilised hours then want get up late and chances are on a Monday not needing riot gear is close to zeroGrin

Everyone's fed,wash up done
DS heading out to put his mealworms out and check if grass dry enough to cut shortly as suns currently shining but rain forecast by lunchtime
Grass has shot up whilst rains been upon is and reverting to a meadow is probable if I don't do something today as chance of showers are will us here few more days yet...

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2019 09:07

Aaaaand lil zoo just thrown huge tantrum over not liking jegging I got outshe threw on bed so assumed going crossly dress herself and went downstairs.she come down hold wrist and snap at me for not helping and it's now very painful.i suspect even my breathings going to annoy her todayI think it's time to batten down the hatches and hopefully escape outside to mow grass shortly

Cagliostro · 15/06/2019 10:53

That does sounds stressful zoo 😭

Well I am proud I got up for Pilates, sooo didn’t want to when my first alarm went off! But I walked down to town as no buses and a friend met me there too which was nice. Class was ok, I found some bits really difficult (my wrists and lower back are both really weak!) and friend said the other instructor’s classes are better, so I will try those instead at some point (timing isn’t great though so might be difficult) and might stick to gym on Saturday morning instead as it looked nice and quiet!

Singingcricket · 15/06/2019 11:35

Afternoon peeps (well it is here).

I'm in a grump because I want to be among fields of green and long-lining 🐎 but another week of exams ahead and DH off away tomorrow on another work trip so here I am again .
Have to be here following week too as although DD not in school very much we will be awaiting the dreaded "failure" phone call for which parents and student have to be within striking distance of school. (They don't call if you pass so its all very tense - bloody stupid system if you ask me - very "negative") but I suppose it saves them from having to call everyone.)

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Instead of sitting about sulking I should actually get on with things though. Need to write a list ... or several lists ... .

Well done for getting up and at 'um Cag! Unlike me Blush)

Hope weather holds for gardening Zoo so ds can enjoy!

And hope tackling kitchen wasn't too onerous I've Brew

🍒 waves to all Fledglings!

Morning all. That system sounds so awful SC!

Good luck with everyone’s moods today zoo and well done for class *. We are out at dancing. DD1 seems to be in some kind of undefined bad mood. On the plus side DH is going to cook spaghetti bolognese for tea :) and we have gin and tonic for later.

foxessocks · 15/06/2019 13:27

Wahoo for gin and tonic and spaghetti Bolognese toostressy!

Sc I think I remember you saying about that system before... stressful!

I am in birthday party hell. A room full of five year olds who are high on sugar and a lot of them are out of control Shock even the entertainer is having trouble!! Pleased to report dd is at least behaving herself but most of the parents have stayed and they aren't even trying to stop their dc running riot...! Only half an hour left...

Cagliostro · 15/06/2019 13:54

Can’t believe it’s a year since the last time you were worrying about a phone call of doom sc such an evil system!

Ugh I do not miss big birthday parties like that foxes

Just stressing about getting the Caglets to their dress rehearsal, thankfully it’s only a short walk. But need to make sure they have everything.

Quite anxious this afternoon and headachey so will take various tablets shortly! DH cheered me right up though as he found a hoodie with a much loved character (Totoro) on and it’s super warm and snuggly! Yay!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2019 14:17

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/06/2019 15:29

Bloody hell. DD2 has just drawn all over DD1’s folk using DD1’s bright red lipgloss. I think she thought it would come straight off. It isn’t Sad. It is coming off the face but not the hair or the eyes Shock. Any tips anyone? Plus the rest of the day ruined as DD2 sobbing as DD1 quite rightfully is furious with her Sad.

Lovely photo zoo.

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/06/2019 15:29

doll not folk

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/06/2019 15:41

Also lipgloss on carpet Angry

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/06/2019 16:26

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2019 17:14

I second cream cleaner or try hairspray
Bloody kids drive you bonkers sometimes.never forget dd1 smearing vaseline all over wall

Just worked out billsplus vet bill this week for scout cat.i have £30 for the week, not incl cat food as already have that.fml

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/06/2019 18:04

Thanks guys! Cream cleaner and a few other things got it off her skin mostly and managed to wash it out of her hair eventually. Still a little red but better than she was!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2019 18:08

Well done stressy
Hope rest evening is calmerFlowers

Singingcricket · 15/06/2019 18:25

Not sure Toostressy, advice on-line seems to be nail varnish remover to get lipstick and lip gloss off carpet, but I don't suppose that's much good for plastic doll's faces and hair!

Your poor dd1 (and dd2 if she thought it would come off!) Is it a very expensive doll? Could you possibly replace it secretly with a new one by any chance and pretend "she took a shower" overnight or something? Grin

Takes me right back to when my "dear" brother cut the whiskers off a favourite toy rabbit Grin.

Hope you survived the party Foxes! Brew. I hate it when parents don't step in! To be fair though, it's often in those situations where responsibility is shared, or not quite clear, when the host is looking to the parent to step in and vice versa. Some just don't though! Happily over here, the culture is that parents rarely stay, which is preferable imho!

Wow! Beautiful bee orchid Zoo! What a find!

Hope Caglets dress rehearsal went ok Cag! Yes, I can't believe it is a year since the last potential "call of doom" scenario! ! It's like taking a combo of o and a levels every twelve months, so relentless.

Going from bad to worse here. We'd nipped out to stationery supplies shop earlier when DD started to feel ill and we had to come home quickly and now it looks like she has a stomach bug. Heigh ho.

Bowerbird5 · 15/06/2019 18:32

Hi everyone.
There is a distinct smell of cat piss in the sitting room. I can’t see it. I smelt it this morning but she missed the tray last night and some was on kitchen floor but I was too tired -lazy- to do it at 11pm. I put zoflora neat on paper towel this morning to wash it. Been out at a show all day and house shut up. Can smell it but no sign on dark blue carpet. Hmm! Any ideas? Crawl around on hands and knees sniffing carpet and hoping that no one looks in window as they go past? Loony lives there!
Did big kitchen tidy up last night and love new tidy drawer.
Bathroom half done. Decided DH never cleans shower drain🤮 I usually do it weekly but must have missed a week. I must also be moulting like the cat. I did basin, toilet and shower but not shelves, basket or floor.
Work has been stressful and manic. Been talking to a retiring colleague today. Several jobs locally if I want a change of seen. One a challenge but also less than ten minutes away. Hmm. 🤔
DD first doll has green felt tip. Not washable who bought those? Not me.
SC how bloody stressful is that!

Zoo 🏅 for you. I think I would have lost rag with lilzoo by now and I am known for being patient at school. Hope DS enjoys outdoors. Have you grown tomatoes? Not too late. I bought plugs but some stores are practically giving them away once a foot high as they can’t put canes etc to look after them. Very rewarding. I have six this year. Different varieties. Lovely pic.
Bloody dogs next door barking again.

I’Ve how many weeks to go now. Very impressive bladder.🏆

  • I had vision of 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👩‍👩‍👦‍👦👨‍👩‍👧‍👧👨‍👩‍👦‍👦Covered in red!

Cags impressive going at all. Of course if I retired I could...yoga. Dreams.

Bowerbird5 · 15/06/2019 18:34

Oh Toostressy lost some of your post.
Folk for you not I’ve

Cat on sofa snoring.🙄

Singingcricket · 15/06/2019 18:51

Arf at the carpet sniffing Bower! Grin

Nowt as good as a home grown tomato! We have a few strawberries on the terrace this year; first crop today.

You need a forensics team for cat pee Bower. Must be an ultraviolet light thing that will show it up!

Sorry to hear about exam system SC. Sounds very tough.

Decluttering here. I'm not married to a cricket it seems. He must be one of the highly visual bugs because he has a strong clutter tolerance, tidy or not. Off to do games in Ds's room. I am not without blame - I've too many books.

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2019 19:56

Hope Dds ok SC and if contagious keeps to herself

I feel very weary and low tonight, had few quiet tears in my room before help lil zoo sort herself out for bed
