Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Is there a particular order for the clutterbug videos on YouTube?

We’ve done a bit of home ed. Was difficult as DH not well with bad throat and cagletini is such hard work. I’m off swimming shortly and am going to town after to pick up some things and most likely a sit down by myself!

We had a nice chat though (me and Caglets - not DH as he’s not regained his voice yet) about the home ed visit, and they said they don’t think we are mean making them do more work than their friends 😂 in fact DD says she really enjoys some of it! So that’s always nice to hear. They enjoyed the quick macbeth task I gave them today, they had to plan a rough picture the last prophecy to do properly next week. Also have some poetry planned and still need to read the rest of the story/poem versions to them, plus make some other activities and do some reading of the easier parts of the actual play. Want to finish the whole thing by July 10th as that’s when we are going to see a short version for kids at the Globe

foxessocks · 14/06/2019 13:57

cag there's nothing better than when your kids tell you you're doing well! I know it's no where near the same as actual teaching like you are but dd told me yesterday I was the best at cooking dinner ever and she thinks it tastes delicious, I was so happy!!

Sc is it just cold custard you don't like?? I'm not a big fan of trifle either but I do love custard on crumble or just with banana!

I also buy custard in a tin but after trying all the own brands we now get Ambrosia , expensive custard taste in this house!!

Dd LOVES custard. She just has a bowl of it on its own. When she was tiny we sometimes put her veg in custard to get her to try new ones Blush

All I've done today is put the dishwasher on. We actually went out and had coffee with friends and strolled around the charity shops, it was lovely! Made me realise I haven't done anything like that for ages.

So...ta da
Dishwasher
Bought shreddies
Blush
Took everything out of the car

To do
Finish daily routine and s&s
15 minutes bathroom / other room
Declutter bag and purse
Cook dinner - veg curry

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/06/2019 15:17

Cag, she has been on YouTube for years so I find it hard to find an order to them as there are so many tbh. I think you’re best just jumping in. She does do organising challenges every so often too e.g. Hug Your Home is good.

I love custard Smile. Hot or cold.

Thanks lisette Smile

Custard club! 💛

foxessocks · 14/06/2019 19:17

Finished my list and also managed to book our fathers day outing and book dd into a summer club for a week - feeling organised!
Downside the dc, ds especially, have been such hard work this evening!!! Such bad behaviour! Shock

I'm now going to sit on the sofa and do nothing. Oh except amend the food shop online but I don't have to move for that!

Who's glad it's Friday?!

Cagliostro · 14/06/2019 19:22

Oh thank goodness the three dots under each post (for bookmarking etc) have moved back! They’d swapped to the left side for a bit and it was pissing me right off :o

My swim was nice. I really do get more done when I’m on my own though

Also picked up a present I’d ordered for DD (fountain pen set) and the letters I’d requested from the GP. And got Harry Potter socks for DH (have slacked a bit on Father’s Day but he really does ask for socks!).

I have booked to try a Pilates class tomorrow, I’m totally nervous! Not tried one before. However it’s the same teacher who does my favourite aqua fitness class and she’s really funny and nice so hopefully it’ll be fun and I’ll make sure I speak to her beforehand about my limitations.

Singingcricket · 14/06/2019 20:37

What ho peeps! Had a nice day in the end. Tradesmen left. Friend arrived for (salad) lunch. Sun came out. Then DD came back from school and was in a good mood for once as exams went well! So we walked the furries and then watched a film together which seemed a bit lazy at 5.00pm on a sunny Friday afternoon! Even better, DH has cooked us moules frites for supper and I have had (white) Wine. Cheers!

Absolutely zero - and I mean zilch - Flying achieved! But lovely cleaner has strutted her stuff and downstairs at least in reasonable state! Although dh has now trashed kitchen.

Pilates is good Cag (lots of riders do it to keep their backs in good shape) hope you enjoy it! Macbeth activities sound fab! Hope your dh feels better soon!

Hate it all Foxes! Loathe it hot, cold, runny, set, wobbly. Dislike the vanilla flavour and particularly dislike the texture. Also detest panacotta, creme brulee, creme pat, or similar. Even tested by yoghurt, lemon tarts and runny quiches. I do have a milk intolerance though. Funnily enough , despite that, manage to scarf down plenty of cheese and ice cream!
Well done re: advance holiday planning!

Glad to hear you are eating again I've but sorry about the heartburn. Take it steady!

Amazing list again Zoo!

Ta for cake Toostressy

And happy clutter-bugging Lisette!

Waves to everyone else and have a lovely weekend fledglings!

Be er finished my to do,ran out of steam!!did spend bit time with D's instead though.

SC I don't tolerate milk.i can tolerate cheesesomeone told me something to do with the cultures in it?I can eat tiny amounts of yogurt.i shouldn't eat custard/chocolate/rice pud etc.my gut hurts if I do,but sometimes I cannot help myself.plain milk revolts me like you describe milky puds.even the smell is utterly vile to me.as I child I rarely drank milk, cheese made me sick and I swear my bones are probably akin to lace doilies as "in my day" nut milks et Al were not commonplace- I was deemed a fussy madam

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/06/2019 20:53

Grin custard club

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/06/2019 20:55

Cag, I am one of these strange people who loves socks Grin. They have to be the right type. Nothing too itchy or too tight. Next socks are my absolute favourite. I often ask for them if asked for present ideas. I very rarely get them as nobody believes I really do love socks Smile. Socks are a brilliant present!

foxessocks · 14/06/2019 21:00

I love socks too! Nothing better than a nice soft new pair of socks ! Grin

Sc ok I thought not liking cold custard was fair enough but NO custard at all!! Madness! Grin

foxessocks · 14/06/2019 21:02

In other news I made a healthy veg curry for dinner and I've just made a fish finger sandwich because I was still hungry Blush

Singingcricket · 14/06/2019 21:50

Foxes DH doesn't understand the custard hatred either!
But love a fish finger sandwich! Grin

Exactly the same here Zoo still have nightmares about warm school milk! Ugh!
Never touch the stuff! Can't stand the smell of it either! And just the thought of rice pudding makes me sick!

Toostressy People must love buying you Christmas presents!

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/06/2019 22:23

SC my in-laws usually buy me a pair of socks Grin. As I say, nobody else believes me so doesn’t buy me them or says socks are too boring. They are not boring Grin. If I get gift vouchers sometimes I will treat myself to socks.

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/06/2019 22:23

Also thank you for links Flowers

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/06/2019 22:24

Yay another sock club member foxes Grin

Cagliostro · 14/06/2019 23:03

Sock club and custard club, it’s all happening here! :o

I need some socks myself actually, mine are so old and bedraggled.

I’ve made some headway on the macbeth stuff, some was writing up guides for activities we have already done so less thinking required and more focus on getting them looking right! Really strongly thinking of setting up a website to sell such things - a few other downloadable home ed resource sites started in this way. But I’d need to make a lot more packs for different topics first, which will take time and undistracted (ha!) planning. It is a far more productive use of my time though than faffing about on Fb so I really should bite the bullet. It’s still ages before I’d need to think about the really scary bit of putting my stuff out there. It’s not a big money spinner at all but it would be nice to see them getting used.

Got the baby to sleep and now I need to dry my hair and set an alarm for tomorrow. Nervous!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2019 04:17

SCwarm school milk the stuff of nightmares.i clearly remember both teachers telling my mum I wasn't drinking it double telling off and the utter disappointment when frozen winter milkgot put on radiators so it defrosted/got warm ....

Another sock fan here, esp fluffy warn ones on cold days -now thats living on the edge peopleGrin

Cag good luck with Pilates

I just laying here unable to sleep but not yet willing to get upGrin

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2019 07:46

Gave up at 545 due to insistant kitty complaints about breakfast requirements!
Scoutcat ate his.heaved back up with tiny bit hair.leapt for window sill.after radiator gateI put him out to prevent a repeat performance.wipe it up wash offending patch floorlil zoo walks in "dont step in wet patch as has bleach (small amount)mix into soapy water" two mins later, steps in it leaving footprints
Wipe lil zoos feet
Rewash patch
Head upstairs to tackle bathroom floor.it has a non slip lino and is grey with flecks darker grey and navy and since was laid by council always looks like needs a wash!!I try s rub in on hands a knees old toothbrush, scouring cream and soapy water.can honestly say...looks no fucking betterHmm

Might see if I can find gumption to take zoolets to a kids camera club at community barn hub on local nature reserve today.seriously tired already but no chance nap as once dd2 upit's a tinhat day as she's realised lack planning/rabbit in headlights overwhelmed means not ready for the two a day mock exams in week ahead so I stupidly offered to help.there few more after that.lessons continue as normal in between and two start halfway into lunch
Somebody stock naughty corner heavily with nice things cos I'm going to need it!!

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/06/2019 07:55

Woke up at 6 bursting for loo but in desperation not to wake dc4 managed stay in bed til 645! Up since then with him, joined at 730 by dc3.

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2019 08:21

Waiting 45mins for a wee once bursting is beyond my bodies capability any more I've,being heavily pregnant I consider you deserve a 🏅.would dc1 help wash up etc?

Dd2 is up.my vision of the day is already in progress, she's a major stresshead and still has rabbit in headlight/overwhelmed/procrastinating approach.someone.shoot.me.now...
