Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Oh god foxes that’s not good! I hope their rethinking fizzles out and you can keep the income. Is there a possibility of doing the same work somewhere else?

Cagliostro · 05/06/2019 16:35

Got back from my ice cream date with DD (was nice we chatted about dance classes mostly) and Cagletini had dozed off so we also discussed how to keep up home ed over summer.

Also messaged another person with anti procrastination purposes although not the biggest priority really. Re setting up a home ed club.

ChicCroissant · 05/06/2019 17:54

Will catch up later, life getting in the way here!

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/06/2019 18:40

cag you have been super organised today!!

Foxes at least you know your quality of work isn't the issue, hope things don't fizzle out thoughFlowers

CAMHS with ds- he painted a pebble with his beloved mumkey

Laurajjj · 05/06/2019 19:25

Evening all.

I went swimming after work and ds was at an after school club. I copped out of cooking tea and grabbed us both a subway on the way home (bad mummy Blush). I need to bath ds. I could also do with hoovering downstairs. I'll see how I get on and report back. And have a look at see what you've all been chit chatting about since last night.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/06/2019 19:44

Laura we have a saying

foxessocks · 05/06/2019 19:44

Thanks , we'll see tomorrow I guess. Cag I don't think so it's a bit specific to this company and I think I'm very lucky to be able to do it from home...not sure there's much other work like that out there. I guess it was too good to be true!

Is it the weekend yet?!

TooStressyTooMessy · 05/06/2019 20:10

Welcome Laura Smile

TooStressyTooMessy · 05/06/2019 20:12

Oh no foxes. At least does that mean you could get a good reference since they have said no concerns with work quality? Very stressful for you though Cake.

Singingcricket · 05/06/2019 20:52

Evening all!

Good luck with evening tasks Laurajjj (sorry, rather too much chat on my part Blush ).

Quite right you received an apology Foxes I should think so! Good about reorganization but hope they see sense and you keep your role!

Sorry CAHMS such a trial Zoo Flowers

Lovely you took your DD out to mark the occasion Cag!

Very glad DH not travelling this week as I feel really drained for some reason! He has walked furries and cooked supper! Very humid here with on/off thunderstorms.

(Pathetic) ta da:
quick hoover/tidy up
emptied dw
dining room table hot spot
2 X washing + hung up
cooked DD and boyfriend sausages, potato wedges, salad and ice cream with mango coulis for lunch
cleared up
received on-line grocery order and put away (carried stuff downstairs)
fetched two parcels from po
came upstairs to lie down Hmm

Oh well, tomorrow is another day!

Waves to Chic and everyone else!

Oh that’s a shame foxes :(

Was quite funny with DD, she was tired anyway but seemed a bit reluctant to go despite the lure of ice cream. A little pressing and it transpired that she thought I was taking her out to sit down and talk about periods 😂🤦‍♀️ strangely she perked up when I reassured her that was not the case 😂

And she actually said spontaneously at bedtime, thank you for the pudding ❤️ And we agreed it was nice spending the time just us and that we should figure out how to do it more often. It’s not really easy at bedtime due to baby etc but we are lucky to have the option to be able to do it during school hours so will have a think.

She didn’t go to tae kwon do today as she just didn’t want to, she was really clingy and even with the threat of doing homework instead she said she wanted to stay home. So she did, and got both bits done.

TooStressyTooMessy · 05/06/2019 22:06

Cag, does she wear a white dobok for Taekwondo?

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/06/2019 22:14

cag aw😍

Exciting times here.dd2 writes on wattpadand has been asked to submit an original piece for the watty awards...she has substantial hits on some of her "books"(in thousands) and has had lots positive feedback/votes on her work.shes super excited and starting to plan the 1000 word piece.winners can get variety accolades including notifications on their books they are watty award winners, chance to win book deals/have books on other platforms etc.
Just thought I'd share it as all I seem to do is moan lately of being short cash,D's trials and tribulations and dd2 exam stresses!!!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/06/2019 22:16

That should've said 10,000 words!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/06/2019 22:17

Ffs1000-10,000

Cagliostro · 05/06/2019 22:24

She does have a white dobok yes, but her period is finished already (I high fived her for getting through her first one :o) and leaks aren’t really on her radar yet thank goodness! So I’m not sure it was that. I will probably still suggest she chooses the black and yellow one when she outgrows this though!

She does have the odd refusal week with TKD sadly. Not enough to make her quit but I think partly it’s due to the behaviour of some of the kids there. She’s never like this over other clubs. She’ll have no leeway for the next six weeks or so though as she has a grading which is her opportunity to catch up with DS (he started a little earlier so he’s one belt ahead but he’s nowhere near ready for the next one).

That sounds so cool zoo!

I’ve emailed the museum person about setting up a home ed group. Exciting!

TooStressyTooMessy · 05/06/2019 22:27

wow zoo Smile!

Ah just wondered Cag. Glad it’s not that. I used to do martial arts and even as an adult hated the white dobok when I had my period (no choice of colour in our organisation Angry).

Laurajjj · 05/06/2019 22:36

Ta da

Brought bins back in from weekly collection
Bathed ds
Cleaned loo
Cleaned bathroom basin
Hoovered downstairs
Quick tidy up downstairs
Collapsed in a heap on the sofa

I like that saying zoo first basic role of a parents is to feed and keep alive your offspring. Very true. What is a whatty award?

foxes I'm finding work hard going atm too. Over 12 months ago out the blue I was sent an email out the blue by the boss saying I would have a staff review and a pay rise in the region of 10%. It's still not happened. I've asked three times now about but keep being told they will keep their promise, but it just keeps being put on the back burner.

Cagliostro · 05/06/2019 22:39

Yes I would struggle too! I’m hoping they don’t become heavy, seemed to be entirely straightforward this month but I know that doesn’t necessarily mean they will be forever! She still seems so tiny 😭

On that note though, I just thought I’d announce (sorry) OMG I am absolutely loving my menstrual cup, I am on my third month with it and it’s amazing, I keep forgetting I’m on my period which seemed unthinkable before as they are really heavy! Totally recommend!

Lisette1940 · 05/06/2019 23:10

That's great news CAG. Don't forget to remove the cup at the end if it's that comfortable!

Cagliostro · 05/06/2019 23:20

Haha :o

Right, off to bed finally!

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/06/2019 06:30

Laura watty awards basically an accolade she can add to her "books" saying judges have deemed her literary efforts outstanding.there are some prizes available in each category, things like part of work being used in promoting wattpad on various platformsand overall prize is possibility of published work.as DD writes fan fiction of a favourite TV show that wouldn't happen, but I'm still very proud she's been invited to it in an entry.iy seems it's open to anyone who has posted anything in last 12 months, but invites to apply only happen if your work has lots of readers who vote it as good.she has two "books" complete and they have 4.5k and 2.5 k readers respectivelySmile

Hope others have managed more sleep than me. brain dead zombie look this morning is my style

Singingcricket · 06/06/2019 06:57

Good morning fledglings!

Wow that is an amazing readership for one so young Zoo! Really well done to your dd2! Star Star Star

Had an incredible rain storm with thunder and lightening last night! The windows rattled with it and at one point there was so much rain there was almost a "river" running down the street! Needless to say, DH and I had an energetic end to the day running up to the roof to set out buckets! Just putting on the crampons again and off to check them now! Thankfully no more rain this morning!

Been walking on eggshells though as DD has just left for school white with nerves poor thing as she has her trigonometry exam (not her strong suit) starting in 40 mins or so. She'll be back home at lunch time again so I'd better get on!

Have a good errand day everyone!

zoo that's great re your dd how exciting!

Cag I'm a total menstrual cup convert too - I almost gave up on it as the first month I hated it but now I've got the hang of it it's great you really can just forget about your period! And it's a win for the environment too!

Laura sorry to hear you also have work stresses, this is the first time I've had an issue like this for years as I work from home now I keep myself to myself usually!!

Better night's sleep last night thank goodness. Everyone was up quite early though. This morning I have work when ds at nursery then my mum is coming over to look after ds and do school pick up while I go to my other job! Roll on the weekend is all I can say Smile
