Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, athough Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Had quite a lazy, enjoyable afternoon:

Went for a slow walk and a natter with a friend in beautiful sunshine
Made "proper" old-fashioned pea soup (with last shavings of gammon ham on top) to eat with last of double Gloucester/Wensleydale and crackers! (Have really enjoyed cheese from home!)
A spot of admin
2 more loads of laundry + hung up
Tidied kitchen, loaded DW etc

Really need to step up the intensity tomorrow if I'm well enough. Boudoir a pit again.

Amazing list Zoo hope exercises help shoulder!

Glad it's not just me with dust bunnies in the bedroom Foxes & good luck with planning!

Waves to Lisette and everyone else!

I've just told my husband that I'm flykeeping which seems to be an amalgam of Flylady and housekeeping. I got a horrified look 😲.

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/05/2019 20:48

😂Lisette

Lisette1940 · 21/05/2019 21:15

I must be tired zoo - I'm coming out with all sorts of confused sayings.

Cagliostro · 21/05/2019 22:25

Oooh now I want Wensleydale. Or Caerphilly. DSD used to find the latter hilarious as we told her she had to eat it “carefully”. :o They go reeeeally well with black grapes. Now I want some!

Struggled a bit with English and French “classes” today due to lack of planning! But the first history session went really well considering three out of four are autistic and have suspected ADHD too.

Trying aqua class again but the usual shallow one not the deep end class that I struggled so much with last week. Will just speak to the teacher beforehand to let her know I may need to stop as I’m only just over a little flare up. And hang out at the back so I won’t feel like people are looking at me. Other friend is still going though, I’m hoping she will have got over the need to heckle Hmm but not expecting miracles. Another friend (also there last week) might just end up going at times when she isn’t, TBH, which I feel bad for, but I really hate all that

At least the pain hasn’t been so bad today and I’ve also found out that taping up joints can be helpful so that gives me another thing to look into.

Shadycorner · 21/05/2019 22:49

Love cheese and grapes! Glad the day went ok Cag!

Booked asthma review for D's
Booked app for him have feet looked at- he's flat footed and kind of tools over on his foot as walks.looks awfully uncomfortable and as he has never "felt" properlyI felt time get them looked at.pleased finally got rou d sorting this..
Just waiting for dentist to open(9) to check I booked August check up

Didn't sleep well so not expecting achieve much as very lack luster but am glad ive at least done something productive!!

Hope everyone's having a good start to this bright sunny morning!

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/05/2019 08:39

*kind of rolls over.how did roll become tool??Confused

Cagliostro · 22/05/2019 08:41

Gah, I meant that my other friend and I would probably go when laughy friend doesn’t, not that I felt bad about someone else’s decision! She asked me if I wanted to try the deep class again and laughed when I said no Hmm :(. Anyway will see what happens this evening and possibly take some propranolol beforehand. I need to go again to prove I can still manage the regular class.

Still achy and nobody else is awake yet. Must remind DH to take his new tablets earlier in the evening (I used to take them for fibro pain and they give you a “hangover” if taken late).

Play date this afternoon which should be nice, need to tidy up a bit as they are coming in for a bit although we are mostly going to the park.

Totally adding Wensleydale and grapes to the shopping list for tomorrow!

Bowerbird5 · 22/05/2019 11:08

Wish I could. Love Wensleydale. Went to the Wallace and Grommit dairy a few times before I discovered eating dairy was what was making me ill! The ginger one was mine and BFs favourite although we were partial to nearly all of them. They have lovely presentation sets for presents really 'milked' the market. Grin

Surprisingly I never received a diary or calendar for Christmas and have muddled on without them but think I should put stuff in my journal but haven't picked it up for months. I still seem to be able to keep them in my head. I did go out on duty yesterday and didn't need to so slipped up stairs half way through and made CT and I a coffee.
Had a horrendous day on Monday. Can't discuss but retirement is looking like the way to go.
Yesterday was better. I had YR6 in the afternoon Smile

No flying on Monday and not much on Tuesday as I had medical appointments which resulted in me going straight to bed on Monday night as they were running an hour and a half late! Tuesday home by 5:30pm.
Cag Hope the water makes you feel better. If I retire I can join the gym near DS2 and go to swimaerobics. Very gentle I watched once when waiting to go for swim with DS.

Zoo Very good anti procrastination effort. I made muffins for DD on after seeing yours so thank you for the pointy stick.
SC lovely off to see DH great day here for it.

TA DAs
finished cleaning bathroom this morning from last week. Boudoir will have to wait as kitchen a mess.Need to wash floor and gather all the BRC from school before DH comes home at 7pm.
He heard from DD and she was caught up in Manchester fiasco as I thought. They didn't fly till early hours when they should have been near to flying into Dubai. They ended up with a hotel there and a new flight next day and didn't arrive until yesterday when they should have left Sunday evening.Shock
Right need to go soak feet as BF is coming to do them.

Shadycorner · 22/05/2019 11:30

Cheeeeese Gromit! Grin

Glad your DD arrived safely in the end Bower and wishing you all the best with work shenanigans!

Good luck with swim/gym class Cag!

Well done re: anti-procrastination appt making Zoo Star

Haven't had much luck seeing D horse so far as it happens as farm entrance (very unusually) was locked. (They didn't know I was coming but I often do on a Wed and normally just let myself in.) Right pita given the drive. However, there is loads to do at wreck2 so getting on with that. And have texted to see if I can try again this afternoon. Trouble is father farmer (who looks after dhorse) doesn't have a mobile phone and messages have to be passed to him via son farmer, so might be a while before they get back to me. Just having lunch, sitting in my wellies on doorstep watching a dragonfly flitter about, while eating , you guessed it, cheese, crackers and grapes in glorious sunshine, so no complaints really Grin

Cagliostro · 22/05/2019 12:31

All that form filling weeks ago was for nothing, just received DS’ DLA rejection letter, am now crying in the bathroom so the kids don’t see.

I’m gutted. I know appealing can work but it’s all needing energy I don’t have. It’s not even about the money really (although it is more needed now with DH unable to work) it’s the fact they have said his needs are non existent.
