No delayed exit for clutter - March Flylady Thread 2019 for fledglings!

ChicCroissant · 28/02/2019 09:40

What would a combo of exit and clutter be, clexit? Exclutter? Perhaps we should just stick with declutter ....

Welcome to the March Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in March. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

sc totally forgot to say my brother struggled with maths and was told he couldn't do physics without it ( I know not quite the same as your dd situation) anyway he managed it and excelled at the other sciences and he now has a PhD and works in research all in a science field. And he still struggles with the maths but he just gets his maths colleagues to help!

Sanguineclamp · 13/03/2019 13:34

Sounds like a great idea Zoo!

I know Cag I'd be shivering terrified heap but dh v laid back about medical procedures!

Great for your two to have one-on-one tuition! Will pm if I may re: bks to find out age/level. Galore Park have v good rep I think.

Bowerbird5 · 13/03/2019 13:40

I have those GCSE ones somewhere I think. French included I suspect.

No sedative is pants. I had that done yuk. Then I got a cancellation for the “other one” Andrew no sedative because it was a cancellation. My GP said that is “ bollocks” and was amazed I watched some of it. I was given gas and air but like childbirth it didn’t always hit the spot. Apparently I have a kinky bowel but luckily didn’t have bowel cancer. Don’t ever have that without anaesthetic.

Well I have unpacked ( DH ) washed and dried and put in dresser (me) all the glasses. It looks lovely. DH then found and unpacked another box so we have done that and put it in new glass cupboards. Holly and Ivy all wrapped up and put in the two boxes under my bed. It is amazing how it adds up when you buy a piece or two at a time. I need some more pudding bowls and porridge bowls and then I will have to stop.
DH being helpful is unusual. It is so much quicker with two.
So ta das
Crystal unpacked, washed, dried and put away.
Christmas crockery wrapped and boxed.
Other stuff washed and put away only one box missing now.
Basin and toilet cleaned.

Do has gone for DD and we are going to small gallery and lunch.
Don’t know yet if granted time off for funeral. That is two in a just over a month.

Will try and pop back later.

SC I did science and my maths wasn’t strong enough for physics I didn’t do very well for two years but studied like mad at the end and gained a 2S ( different country) great for quiz as I can still remember most of the chemical answers. I did a core science which was biology and ‘rocks’ as we used to call it. My cousins kids all did Mandarin. Very popular for trade in Southern Hemisphere.
I think you have to let them chose. Ds2 is back at Uni now at 37. Doors are no longer closed after youth!

foxessocks · 13/03/2019 13:40

Farm shop and tea rooms visit very nice! We had a lovely brunch and have bought a lot of lemons to make a cheesecake later! Also eggs for any other baking this week and some local honey. And as for dinner zoo I think salmon, new potatoes and cucumber and tomatoes with some lemon juice (there's a 🍋 theme to my food today!) - very simple but tasty!

Cup of tea while ds is playing with the dolls house (he's busy tucking the little people into bed and kissing them) then either some work or some cheesecake making...

Sanguineclamp · 13/03/2019 13:41

That's really great to hear Foxes! Thanks for taking time to post that and hats off to your dB for persevering/career success.

DD is back from school (Wed half day) and she will be so boosted by all these accounts, so thank you hugely everyone Flowers Brew Cake

foxessocks · 13/03/2019 13:42

Absolutely bower! My dh is doing his degree now at 32 Smile

Very chatty thread today I can't keep up but it's lovely!

ChicCroissant · 13/03/2019 13:48

I can't keep up with the thread today either!

Need to nip out to the shops before picking DD up. Lots of wind today! I am out tonight as well (rare!) so apologies for not being on the thread much today - it seems to be running super-well today though!

Catch you later.

Aw @ your ds Zoo that's so sweet! And can we come to dinner? Smile. Glad farm visit a success! Love a farm shop!

Bower you are a tiger(ess)! Having "both ends" investigated without anaesthetic sounds hideous! Love your gp's appropriate choice of expletive! Grin. Most importantly, glad results nothing sinister. And great to hear your DH is stepping up!

And yy to life-long learning! (Sadly, a concept that's not widely understood or encouraged here.)

How amazing to discover so many scientists on here, and ones who struggled with maths no less! Smile. DD will be thrilled to know she is not alone!

Sanguineclamp · 13/03/2019 14:10

Sorry Foxes and Chic! Think that's mainly my fault! Blush Grin.

It's been lovely nattering though! Smile

Sanguineclamp · 13/03/2019 14:13

Bravo to your DH Foxes and have a good evening out Chic. Wind getting up here too!

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/03/2019 14:25

Lil zoo curled up reading on sofa.havent heard peep except ask any more squash left(has already downed 2 litres today)

Cagliostro · 13/03/2019 14:34

I can’t keep up either but I love the chattiness.

I am enjoying some quiet time alone at the pub. I keep going days without leaving the house, which really isn’t good.

Glad DS is getting along with his work zoo that’s fab. ❤️

ChicCroissant · 13/03/2019 16:57

A chatty thread is a nice one!

I have ironed Star so have a choice of clothes for tonight (this doesn't happen often people ...)

Still debating whether to drive tonight rather than public transport, would be so much easier!

Will make list of things DD needs to do while I am out, make sure DH gets her to do them (homework, instrument practice, shower) before the Comic Relief return to Kili programme is on, some of her fave band members did the climb so she'll want to watch it and I'll set the recorder for it.

Will do the link tonight when I get back.

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/03/2019 17:41

I decided prep dd2 dinner early so I wouldn't a) get too tired to be arsed and b) she would be able to moan and I'd decide wasn't worth the effort.when she walked in sniffed air appreciatively and asked whose and what that was!!Smile
Veg done and layered it up,cooled and in fridge.i just need sprinkle top with cheese and bake 30 mins and roast some mushrooms, and green beans alongside it for her!
Whilst on a roll I made the pea ,herb and cream cheese "sauce" for little ones pasta.that just gets tossed thru cooked pasta and veg.happy easy days

Kitchen never got the intended clean.ran out if steam.hopefully lil zoo sleeps better tonight.i desperately wanted a nap earlier but was too cold in my room to settle.grrr

icarriedaturnip · 13/03/2019 21:31

DS is doing better today, so have cleaned the house from top to bottom so it feels normal again. He’ll be back at school tomorrow so will do some meal prep then. I’ve got to wash my hair but I’m so tired I just want to crawl into bed!

Sanguineclamp · 13/03/2019 22:12

Menu sounds delish tonight Zoo!

Hope you are having a lovely evening Chic!

Glad to hear your ds better, sleep well Icarriedaturnip

Rather envious of your quiet pub moments Cag!

Pushme hope that you are ok and that paint cleared up. Also that you can get a better night's sleep tonight.

All rather stressful here tonight. (Severe teenage angst.)

G'night all!

Bowerbird5 · 13/03/2019 22:39

It does sound delish zoo. I had left over Shepherd’s pie not much but enough as I haven’t been very hungry today. I had prawn cocktail for lunch and DD and I shared a rhubarb and raspberry crumble which was delicious with dairy free ice cream. The art show was good a lot of painting no prints, two textile pieces and two large photographs. There was also several mixed media choice. There is a people’s choice so we voted for three different ones. We liked the winning entry.

Spoke to DS2 everyone is very upset about our friend. Customers have been contributing to the fund as well as staff. He was very well liked always had a smile for everyone. He said DS1&3 very upset.DS1 had to go home from work early.
Damn Carrie I should have washed mine. I will have to get up earlier now.
Organised clothes for tomorrow night and tidied kitchen. Shined my sink and swept the floor before coming to bed. Couldn’t face the ironing though I brought the ironing board in.

ChicCroissant · 13/03/2019 23:00

First things first - Launch Pad link for Thursday

Gorgeous food tonight, really enjoyed it. It was a fab little treat (along with some Wine too).

Before I went out I was saying that I had no reason to go out tomorrow and was looking forward to a day in - well that was daft, because of course something has now cropped up! Need to make a few phone calls first but should be easily sorted or ordered via Amazon

Sleep well fledglings, Bower I hope you are all doing OK - it's a lot to take in and is bound to come over you in waves for a while yet.

I made dinner while on my own with the baby. That was hard work. She played briefly with fridge magnets and I brought other toys in... but instead she kept climbing the kitchen step stool thing and nicking veggies off me and sticking her hands in the sink. I was very glad when the others got home! I do have two bags of pasta sauce (with hidden veg) in the freezer now though.

I just drank some melted jelly. Itchy throat. Ugh.

Super anxious this evening so might take some propranolol before bed. I’m too disorganised to take it regularly so guess I’ll be taking it as and when instead (GP did say it was up to me).

I didn’t really do any of my anti procrastination things today either. FFS.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/03/2019 06:17

cag "d"p takes that as and when which works for him.could you put a small bowl of water and a couple of plastic items she can splash around with whilst you are in kitchen?I've clear memories of dd2 with wash up bowl, suds and plastic plates/cups

foxessocks · 14/03/2019 06:39

zoo ds came into our room at 3am and climbed into bed with us, he is a wriggler and flailer too! It doesn't make for a restful night. Although worse on the sofa I imagine!

Sanguineclamp · 14/03/2019 06:47

Morning all!

Glad you had a lovely evening Sass! It's nice to have a treat once in a while!

Cag is Cagletini still able to go in play pen? Or play on kitchen floor with smallest pan, wooden spoon and dried pasta shapes? (DD used to love that! She loved it even more when she graduated to dried lentils and measuring spoons!)

Good to hear supper went down well Zoo

Loads to do today, so had better get on!

Sanguineclamp · 14/03/2019 06:47

Xposts Foxes

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/03/2019 07:03

SC yes,we did dry pasta shapes and pans too(mainly because she was a greedy little thing and raw lentils aren't good for digestion!!Grin)

Well I'm in a breakfast rut with my lot and dd2 has been complaining.sge doesn't want porridge often, won't eat granola at all and hasn't touched eggs in a couple of months(except in food/odd frittata that included lots cheese) this is "d" p fault for goading her as a vegetarian for eating potential baby chicksAngryafter a rummage through my Pinterest saves I've found a possible option-weetabix muffins.it only makes two but it's very simple to make(Weetabix, spoonful sugar,yogurt,2eggs)I'm thinking it will be very filling and she will think she's getting a major treat, whilst it's ticking nutritional boxes for me.anyhoo I'm having a go this morning(they're in oven now) and if they work and she eats them I shall report backGrin

Tada
Cats fed
Wash on
Littertray sorted
Weetabix muffins made and in oven
Washed up

Now to attempt wake everyone.....

foxessocks · 14/03/2019 07:06

Sounds good zoo. I have to admit breakfast is very boring in this house, I can't engage my brain for anything other than porridge, cereal or toast at a stretch first thing! Tbh the dc pretty much request porridge every day and they don't even like anything on it, just plain.
