A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Stumbling through December. 🎄🎅☃️

FestiveForestieraNoel · 04/12/2018 22:17

Hope everyone feels better. X

SassitudeandSparkle · 04/12/2018 23:44

SC that medical appointment doesn't sound fun. I'm glad the remote turned up though, foxes!

DH is still at work! I have spoken to him, obviously not a good day. I will remind him, yet again, when he gets in that he could take a reduced pension now Grin Wondering whether to down a small bottle of prosecco that is in the fridge ....

Cagliostro · 05/12/2018 00:09

ta da
✅managed to stand up off the sofa a few times
✅checked email about ballet exam
✅looked after friend’s DS and did English with them

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/12/2018 06:05

Foxes glad remote was found!
Bower how disappointing.hope today's trip goes well!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/12/2018 06:58

Bowerbird5 · 05/12/2018 07:18

Thanks. I am going as it is a subject I have been teaching for two years and the class are so lovely. I want to see there faces when we get there. It is a very unusual trip and we are lucky to have it within an hour of us. It will be tiring but great.

Right better get skates on. I have to get wood in and light fire, wash up from last night as had GP then church group and too tired when I came in and went straight to bed.

Hope everyone has a good day will probably pop in later tonight.

SlightlyCoddled · 05/12/2018 07:46

Have a good trip Bower and a good day at work Toostressy!

Cag I found Next good for tween bras this sort of thing and JL has a specific teen underwear section here with a good selection.

Zoo glad toe better but sorry about cold and to hear dd2 and Lil'Zoo ill again. Brilliant news about ds and his school work! Good on him!

Aw Foxes that is so lovely about your ds saving sweets for your ds 💗 !

Sass I hear you loud and clear about your DH and work hours. It's awful when you are constantly worried about them isn't it? I hope your dh wasn't too exhausted when he eventually got home last night.

Despite an array of tests that have all come back fine, I know DH still isn't right somehow. He hasn't recovered from flu as he should and is still having these "episodes" at night. He's cancelled another trip today (very unlike him) and I was up most of the night worrying. What to do now is the question?

Height ho! Had better get on. Waves to Festive and everyone else! Hope everyone has a good anti-procrastination day!

Cagliostro · 05/12/2018 08:17

Aha!!! Thank you sc that is exactly what I was looking for. I shall try Next next :o

Another fucking horrendous night 😡 full of cold and empty of sleep

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/12/2018 09:20

I missed your post about bras cag
We went to m+s with dd1,debanhams with dd2(contemplating Debenhams again as m+s has closed near us now) they are lovely and make sure they're a good comfy fit.avoid Matalan at all costs.i saw padded push ups that would d fitted lil zoo at 10Angry

Tada
Fed cats
Wash on
Littertray and bins
Fight lil Zoo
Drag zombie looking dd2 from bed
Breakfasts
Sweep kitchen floor
Wash in drier
Make coconut and goji flapjacks and banana muffins
Wash up n wipe down

Need pop n buy kibble for kits shortly.dp did school runs as raining.hes off to work at 2pm

SC I've no idea where you go from here it must be very stressful when you know something's not right but aren't getting definitive answersFlowers

SlightlyCoddled · 05/12/2018 10:20

Ta v muchly Zoo and glad it helped Cag! Grin

Ta da:
emptied DW
wiped down kitchen surfaces
Dettol spayed kitchen bin, left for 3 mins, and wiped
s&s
overnight washing dried in TD
prepped casserole for tonight (now in oven)
walked the furry who is now fast asleep curled against my legs while I drink my morning coffee.

I tell you, dogs are one of the most effective stress relievers!
DD is also making me smile. (She is largely at home this fortnight revising and only going in to school for exams.) Her revision outfit of choice this morning consists of an over-sized grey hoody, a bobble hat, noise cancelling headphones, black leggings, long orange and purple stripey socks, wool wrist warmers and an enormous plaid (clean) sheepskin dog blanket Grin. When I asked if she was quite warm enough just now I got a scowl and a "barely" Grin. But she's doing physics so I don't blame her for being grumpy ... .

Right, break over, time to get back to main list as I am working later.

SlightlyCoddled · 05/12/2018 10:22

Sorry you had such a wretched night btw Cab Brew

SlightlyCoddled · 05/12/2018 10:23

Argh Cag not cab! (Autocorrect as maddening as ever! Confused)

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/12/2018 11:16

Ta da
Sort shopping list
Meal plan
deal with poorly ds
threaten to cancel Christmas
Check the rope light is still working - its going to be used year long to brighten a dull corner where I craft.
Make fresh bread for breakfast
Collect laundry
get ds to evict laundry and washing up from his room
discuss computer support issues with mum
fed fish
Contemplated life choices

foxessocks · 05/12/2018 14:33

sc that's a funny image of your dd!! She sounds like she has natural style! Grin

Well today hasn't gone to plan. I should have got home three hours ago but we got a flat tyre 🤦🤷

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/12/2018 15:05

Oh no foxes
SC I can imagine Dd and my Dd2 looking very similar in own clothes.sunday twas black joggers, stripey fluffy socks, black hoodie, grey t shirt ,black beanie hat and my lil pony blankie draped over her!!still I'm not complaining.ar least she's not flashing expanses of flesh for all to seeGrin
Hills hope poorly D's isn't too
Much trouble!

Ta didn't
Fetched cat food in rain
Moped a bit whilst do fetch D's
Made lunch
Head pounded
Lay on sofa and fell sleep
Text dd2 to wait for lil zoo and walk her home
Cough til back head felt like go snap off whilst sinuses throb delightfully

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/12/2018 15:06

Ps mlp blankie was because lil zoo hadn't bagsie it and was warm and fluffy, not her choice of character at this age!!

Cagliostro · 05/12/2018 18:02

See I was horrified at the padded style of bras when I first saw them (when DSDs were that age) but I then found out they are more comfy, and also more errrrm concealing in the cold if you know what I mean. So I assume they are like that for comfort rather than creating a cleavage or anything. I hope Hmm

Feel like absolute garbage. Glands all swollen up. Fucksake. It’s my birthday on Friday as well.

Bowerbird5 · 05/12/2018 18:21

Ha Ha I was slightly surprised but thought maybe it was there and didn't involve her having to go upstairs!
Yeah zoo some of the attire of our past Year 5&6s raised eyebrows amongst the staff. High heals, black lacy crop top, short skirt and make up produced a comment from an adult that she wouldn't look out of place on a street corner. It was sad to see however this Yr5 & 6 are completely different and more likely to be in leggings and hoodies or proper party dresses with sticky out skirts to twirl around in.

Brilliant step forward for DS.

Had lovely day out the kids were fab, respectful, polite and interested. They said it was amazing.

Came home with great expectations to find no bloody kitchen fairies again but a message from Mark (I didn't know who he was) who seemed surprised I was out and would also be out tomorrow and Friday eh Yes I told him I go to work! So he is coming up tomorrow after school to talk about paint.
Still no running stuff. Arrgh! I wont have any clothes left soon. I might end up in a sparkly skirt myself as that might be all that is left soon. I haven't had time to go to Son2s and wash as his machine takes soo long and we don't go out and leave them on.

Anti procrastination
Rang Mark back straight away. *
Need to post raffle tickets for Guide Dogs but need to find cheque book.
Wondering if weather up north is foggy and if DH will be home tonight or not. Need to find mobile.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/12/2018 19:00

Hello all, sorry to hear of those with difficult days. Not the best day here either. Work was fine but I got home to find that DD2 had not been taken on her school trip (just a local trip carol singing) as apparently we had not returned the consent form. I’m almost 100% sure that I put it in the parent postbox ages ago. Even if I didn’t, I can’t believe they didn’t ring me or DH to check and just didn’t take her AngryAngryAngry. It was a choir thing so she won’t have been the only one left but she is in the choir and was excited to go. Admittedly DD2 says she didn’t say anything when they didn’t call out her name which is unfortunate but she is only 5. I try so hard not to complain at any public service as I do realise they are on their knees and totally understand they can’t do everything. Am annoyed though and not sure if I am being unreasonable to be? I won’t complain but will have to mention it on Friday when I am actually helping at the school Angry.

Big waves to SC (love the image of your DD), Forestier, foxes (hope car sorted), zoo, Cag, Bower (glad trip went well), dani, Hills, Sass and everyone else.

SC, what tests has your DH had? Are the doctors saying everything is fine then? I must stress I am NOT an expert and am careful as you know about medical advice on the internet.

Has he ever had panic attacks or similar?

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/12/2018 19:09

more concealing in the cold iyswim made me automatically think my midwife thinking D's wasn't latch properly trying to feed then realising on popping his suction he had more than a mouthful and commenting "wow you could hang coats if you stood up on those!!Grin cag like many things it was fashion based as the pants next to them..oh.my goodness.slogans on the b I'd be embarrassed about if ever got run over/flashed for all the world to see.very sad.ive struggled to put my girls in nice clothes that aren't tarts handbag or resorting to hoodies and leggings(which they gravitate towards for comfort these days and at least no ironing for me then)

Nasty case CBA set in and lil zoo beg cold tea so they're eating tuna, crackers, cheese, pepper sticks and tomatoes.i did make a jelly earlier and set it with tinned peaches in so I guess I can claim it's still healthy

Dd2 still looking awful.didnt even get a smile for the hot chocolate tonight just sipping to stop the coughing whilst sneezing plumes snot and howling out for more tissues.poor bean.ds seemed to have finally shifted his,but has taken over two weeks....

Bower glad trip went well.not impressed by your still lack of facilities...I'd be climbing walls by now,you have patience of a saint!Halo

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/12/2018 19:13

stressy X posts.id deffo mention it.at 5 she can't be expected to pipe up and tbh in classes I will helped out in for that age group kids weren't taken notice of as half class then chime in they're allowed to go this ensuing ages checking for paperwork.
No consolation but I saw a thread yesterday(I think) kid was banned a trip she was excited go on after a tough one months(lost dad and grandma)as school couldn't find consent form.the rub was that they could see she had paid(parent pay) and them rather ring her rang parents of kids that HADN'T PAID offering to take them(which they did) in place those off I'll who had paid and this poor kid...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/12/2018 19:22

Thanks zoo, yes I saw that thread which was awful. This trip was free so I have no proof of returning the form Sad.

OP posts:
foxessocks · 05/12/2018 19:27

stressy that would upset me too - I'm constantly worried about whether I've returned paperwork for this very reason! I bet you did hand it in too. Sad

I'm not even going to post a to do list because it was just that kind of day where nothing went to plan but somehow I have fed everyone and they are in bed, phew!!
