[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

YY to prettiness wasting time Hills!

I have...

A paper calendar which is supposedly for all the family to look at. It is in the kitchen (it’s from Boxhouse publishing) and I love it. However, like anything else, it does make a difference how often I actually update it. The game changer for me was going to a weekly paper calendar. Monthly was too much pressure to keep it pretty for a whole month Blush. This way I get a fresh start each week (I have a box for next week on the page two which I pinched from another Boxhouse calendar). In reality, only I look at the calendar. DC try to write on it but they are NOT ALLOWED. They have their own weekly planning sheets to use / play with.

A paper diary for work which is solely for work use. Again, weekly view. Also we have a work computer diary thing.

Then DH and I have a shared calendar on our phones. If it is not on that phone calendar it doesn’t exist!

So 2 home calendars but it means at least one is likely to be vaguely accurate Grin.

I use the reminder lists on my phone very badly too. I’ve started to make paper to do lists for each day too after watching happily a housewife. I used to feel guilty for wasting the paper but most of it is just scrap the kids have scribbled on anyway.

Do you need to do a test Ive?

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/12/2018 10:09

foxes, I too would love an organisation station. It would be a step too far for DH though.

OP posts:
IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 29/12/2018 10:22

It may be stress

Too much time with everyone in the house all day every day on top of madness of christmas, uni work and crap job maybe

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/12/2018 10:39

I've if it's been quite a while I would test tbh.hope gives you answer you wantFlowers

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/12/2018 10:46

Sorry i've but I am with Zoo. Knowledge is power, and the ability to have the time to make the right decisions for you. Fingers crossed for the result you want.

Bowerbird5 · 29/12/2018 12:18

Hills Someone like me! Re phone I am always losing mine and as it is old it doesn't hold charge for long and likewise I can't ring it.It infuriates family on rare occasions that they ring me.
I'VE Flowers
Would have loved an organisation station when kids were here. We had a Boots family calendar every year but became a problem when we had DD as not meant for families with more than three kids. We knocked DH off it and just stuck on mine when he was coming home/going away.
I love the hall ones with baskets underneath with separate hats, gloves etc. We had a log basket for shoes which they had to rumage in Grin
I admire the pretty ones but wonder how they have time to do it. it could be a mindfulness approach for winding down i guess but i would rather wind down withWine and a good drama programme or comedy on TV.

TA DAS
slept in
cat fed
hen fed and cleaned out, fresh water.
Washed up.

To Do
one basket of washing must be put away today.
might attempt to make bed. This has been beyond me because of back but think i can move everything off and start again today. Duvet, eiderdown, pillows, cushions x 6+ DH made it for me on Boxing Day since then I have smoothed sheet and climbed\rolled in.

Sun has just come out brilliantly so going to don shoes and have a gentle walk around village centre. It isn't far. We only have about 100(if that) houses in the whole village which means two plus mile radiant from opp. my house.
Will pop back later.

Bowerbird5 · 29/12/2018 14:29

Colder than it looks but I perservered and managed. Came back to a lovely warm kitchen and emptied washing machine while i heated red pepper and tomato soup mmmm. Now drying my leggings and knickers on Everhot.Grin Gave hotplate a good clean with lemon juice.

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/12/2018 14:44

Soup sounds good bower

I've just shaved lil zoo legs.at 11 they're like a wolf pelt and us Ng dd2 shaver (Xmas gift) I felt like a sheep shearer!she's ecstatic results, but I can't help feel sad her childhoods sliding away quickly(even tho we know in reality her periods due start anytime judge by her breast development etc is still feels weird and she's still my baby)

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 29/12/2018 16:28

My eldest ds is almost 11, hes starting to get spots, greasy hair and BO. Nice. Grin

headinsandbouttheotherthingforafewmoredaysanyway

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/12/2018 18:00

I've lil zoo has BO worse than the other two!!D's(just turned 13) start get a little fair hair in top lip, greasy hair starting.dd2(15) hair greases up in under 24 hours and has the spots.all have varying levels of attitude, but lil Zoo hardest reason with being so little with hormones...at least dd2 can go sulk for bit then get head out if arse and apologise!!lil zoo hasn't got the skills/maturity for that yet so we are skating into icy territory

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 29/12/2018 19:56

All dc in bed. Older two watching tv but still up there.

Surveying the mess and chaos down here like Shock

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/12/2018 22:04

Not many Flying ta das to report, in fact probably none Blush. But, did have a fairly nice day out with my parents Shock. National Trust place which works so much better than going shopping if only I could convince them that. Also had a really lovely time sitting watching a film at home which I NEVER do. I waste plenty of time on here and do love watching stuff on my phone but very rarely sit and watch a film with DDs as there always seems to be so much to do. Was lovely though. Just got DDs to sleep, said goodnight to my parents and just about to get ready for bed myself Smile. Very behind on laundry though Confused.

Oh good it is the boudoir! Mine is a mess because DH dumped lots of stuff in it. So tomorrow I need to do one drawer. Must not forget it is Sunday, must not forget it is Sunday.

Oh zoo three teens. Passes extra hard hat and eye mask. and ear plugs.

Slightlycoddled · 29/12/2018 23:04

Hi all. Just wrote a long post and lost it. Hope everyone ok.

Didn't get cleaning done apart from the kitchen which took ages and some work in courtyard. Also made several "floral" arrangements with various bits of twigs and berries and quickly dashed to garden centre.

Also visited (briefly) two neighbours.

So need to do shopping, cleaning, cooking all before lunch time tomorrow when het more visitors arriving. So tired. Earache and shivers. Just need to pray that I can pull it all together!

G'night all!

SassitudeandSparkle · 29/12/2018 23:24

The 'wolf pelt' legs has just made me snort!

Not much flying today, we've been to the panto (oh yes we have) and might actually visit the shops tomorrow. But must do more laundry, it's taking over Xmas Shock
