[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Agree that some tablets and alcohol don't mix well together, tends to make the effects of one of them stronger in some cases!

Have done more washing up. Just a couple of large stockpots left now If only we stopped eating and wearing clothes for a bit I could catch up Grin DD is doing her best to stay in her PJ's for as long as possible tbh so she's helping in her own way.

Oh bugger, bugger, bugger have left Christmas cake and mince pie trays at home. Will have to bake tomorrow as well as clean and sort entire place and decorate. Bum, bum and bummer!

Cagliostro · 28/12/2018 18:00

Ok so yeah turns out you aren’t supposed to drink at all on these tablets (paroxetine). Don’t I feel silly 😳 I feel horrific still despite it being almost 24hrs since I had one measly can. I never thought to ask when I went on them, I rarely drink at all even when not BFing, so it’s not generally an issue. 😳

Friends just left, it was nice! But still dizzy. I have also started my first Spotify playlist.

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 28/12/2018 18:13

Oh dear cag you live and learn i suppose!

Sickness bug appears to have passed without claiming any more victims hopefully

Aim for tonight is tidy living room 2 which has become christmas crap hole

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/12/2018 19:47

cag I have had friends on that a.d.some can't drink at all without incident.others find only manage certain drinks

All Xmas gifts either located homes or piled under back unused chairs of dining table so we have a floor
DP back at work now,so back to business as usual

Feeling very low and flat.after my last foray into a.d ended terribly I need find a game plan I can work with...

foxessocks · 28/12/2018 19:51

Thanks for the meal plan suggestions zoo , I've managed to put something together and do an online food shop! We have turkey, stuffing, loads of veg, chipolatas the works but all in the freezer now anyway. And then I went and bought more stuffing today purely because it was reduced to 19p in Sainsbury's and I can't resist a bargain Blush but again it's in the freezer so not a problem! Have had to plan in some "normal" meals like fish or we'll all get a bit fed up!

We've been out all day today, at my parents and went on a long walk and then visited more relatives and just got home. The dc are exhausted but they've been very good. Just about to have some mulled wine and chocolate GrinWine I still have this cold I can't believe how long it's lasting. Hoping warm wine will help my throat...

I've glad the sickness didn't last long that's good news.

Sc argh about the cake etc hope you got it sorted in the end.

Hills hope you are still asleep!

Ooh today I was reading the thread about bullet journals and it make me think of you all. I don't think I need one but I feel like I should have one now!

MeetOnTheSIedge · 28/12/2018 21:32

I have a bullet journal Foxes and IIRC so does Bower. Mine is Blush devoid of any Flylady stuff, I use it as a diary and a book of lists.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 28/12/2018 21:53

Hello everyone. I am in bed! I think Christmas has caught up with me. Parental visit not going too bad thanks SC. Just wish I could stop feeling so on edge Sad.

I don’t have a bullet journal foxes although I’e thought about one. It wouldn’t be structured enough for me I don’t think. Meet*, Grin at no Flylady stuff in yours.

Ive, Christmas crapola room sounds familiar! Glad no more sick.

foxes, I think with DC your ages it is just so relentless that shaking off a cold etc is very difficult.

Cag, at least you know about the alcohol I suppose. Hope you feel better soon.

Hope you have a good night’s sleep Hills.

SC, how annoying about the baking. Is there any way you can avoid it?

Love a sparkly diary Sass. A new diary always fills me with hope that this is going to be my organised year Xmas Grin.

Well done with organising gifts zoo. Is it worth going back to the Doctors / nurse to discuss ADs etc again?

Feeble wing flaps to everyone else. Will pop the links on next.

Evening.

Well remembered Meet but I am not good at keeping up with it just like I start off well with diaries then tail off and stop. Going to start again in January and try and keep up.

Eldest came and had meal tonight and took turkey 1.5kgof leftovers to distribute between them. Smaller one next year. We were expecting two more but the boy’s friend wasn’t well enough and spent all day in bed poor lad.
Been to Osteopath today and she managed to release two a bit. Another appointment before I go back to work. Felt like I just wanted to get home. Even forgot about the paint at LAshleys as in sale. Made lunch turkey s’wich what else! Watched a film this afternoon.
Actually enjoyed washing dishes in my new sink. Wiped and polished worktops. No one here so downstairs has stayed tidy. Upstairs is being ignored.

Bowerbird5 · 28/12/2018 22:44

Cabs hope you feel better tomorrow.

SC some list, sorry you forgot 🎂 and 🥧 s, bummer.

IVE glad to hear it seems to have dried up.

Slightlycoddled · 28/12/2018 22:55

Sorry you are feeling so low Zoo Flowers

Foxes some more ideas in this thread here

Cag hope you feel better tomorrow

Hang in there Toostressy !

Great puking hasn't spread I've

Just rolled back down country path full of delicious three course dinner cooked by our lovely neighbour and lots of Wine. Sort of darkness you only get in the countryside and fog so thick you could hardly see your hand in front of your face. Lucky to make it home Xmas Grin

Big day of cleaning ahead tomorrow ...

G'night all!

Slightlycoddled · 28/12/2018 23:07

Xpost Bower meant to say, so delighted to hear that you are happy with your new kitchen.

And thanks everyone re: cake and everything, something was bound to be left behind today tbh!

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/12/2018 23:17

I slept for around half an hour, but that was enough to feel better. I have been messy about in youtube watching videos and periodically knitting, but mostly trying to get my shit in order. I have my word of the year (although technically there will be 2), I have my aims and goals for the year and for January, and I have my to do list for the next few days. I want to get a bullet journal type thing sorted but my office has expired and I need to go get a code sorted before I can do that and I want a punch for ring binding so that is an amazon order that I need to get sorted before that can be completely finalised.

In short I run a 5 level system 6 level? Hmmm. 1 notice board for meal planning, 1 wall chart for planning the movements of all the people, 1 wall calendar for over all viewing of month stuff, a diary to keep me on track when out, a note book with lists and a bullet journal to track and monitor. confused yet? yep me too, but it mostly works.

Tomorrow I have a list for all the things:
Laundry
Tidying
road trip to get the boy
shopping (mostly online but also blooming office)
discover my car from under the chaos

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/12/2018 05:23

hills safe travels.hope D's reunion is good.Flowers

I need to get more organised
Meal plan weekly which goes on pin board in kitchen and diary for appointment/birthdays but I don't feel it's enough

To do
Find some motivation
A LOT of cleaning
Baking(my hoarded bananas are black and spotty and I've some quite undesirable looking carrots that are in need urgent attention)
Think I need follow flyladys example and pamper myself today(well it is the month for it)too

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 29/12/2018 08:12

We have a calendar which i write on things for the week, and i have a diary. Anything important is stuck to the fridge. We could definitely do with a better system.

I would love an organisation station

www.google.com/search?q=organisation+station&client=ms-android-samsung&source=android-browser&prmd=imnv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwipyb_Oy8TfAhXFyYUKHeHtCcAQ_AUoAXoECAwQAQ&biw=360&bih=612

foxessocks · 29/12/2018 08:26

At the moment I have a system of notes on my phone which I guess is like a bullet journal really so not sure if there's any need to change (I don't know if I fully understand the bullet journal yet!) I have a list for meal ideas, a meal plan, a general shopping list, list of clothes the dc need, a general to do list, present idea lists, places I want to go list. Then appointments and stuff all go on my phone calendar.

So I think a bullet journal would just involve me transferring all those lists into a book which does seem a bit of a waste of time!

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 29/12/2018 08:59

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/12/2018 09:22

foxes too much fuss is made over bullet journals. Mine is literally a book of charts, tick lists and graphs (yes I know, i know) we'll ignore the spread sheets no drawings no order just random information in one place where it can be found. I currently have a poundland A4 note book for my lists. It is basic, it is set up basically, it is not pretty but it works. And IMO this is the best route for those with little time and busy lives. All that prettiness wastes time.

Note travelling til this evening. First chores.

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/12/2018 09:31

Whoops, didn't actually address your concern Blush for me I work better from a written list, technology based list systems and calendars does not work for me at all. I am more likely to remember what is on y list if I write it, I am more likely to remember to check the list. I also find paper brain dumps more cathartic than technology ones.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 29/12/2018 09:33

Foxes sounds as though you have it covered pretty well. I use my phone calendar as prinary diary but copy it over into a book together with to dos on a daily/weekly basis - it helps imprint it into my brain. Also lots of lists in my book. No prettiness though, I'm not into that at all, its purely functional.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 29/12/2018 09:35

x-post, sounds as tjough Hills and I are similar in finding writing things down helps. I write a bit of a brsin dump into mine every night so its that sort of diary too, not just appointments.

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/12/2018 09:48

Yes but I bet you have seen your phone since the 24th. No idea where the hell mine is and it is out of battery and turned off so I can't ring it to find it. I should probably just leave it in the car so I know where it is. But we all know that is a bad idea - strangely phones don;t like to work in cold temperatures...
