[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Welcome back Eustachian.

Quick whip around house today cleaning, opening windows and general tidy. Mount Washmore being tackled.

All food is now in. Phoned Cologne friends and lots of nice heartwarming cards from friends across globe.

Walks have been taken. One thing I must do is keep to a routine. Woke late after insomnia. Can't slide into chaotic routine.

FestiveForestieraNoel · 23/12/2018 15:11

No sorry - Eustacia. Groan.

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/12/2018 15:17

Shop away
Patch up dd2- lil zoo was messing about with nelly and when dd2 ask for her some how end up be half thrown/passed to her and nelly landed wrist/arm claws fully out in panic.cue swearing, crying and shredded skin needing to be removed/sounds bathed...
Another load folded and awayore in,more on
Shop away

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/12/2018 16:22

Assemble little package of goodies in cellophane in case cousin drops in surprise gifts for zoolets like last year(first time ever did that and I'd nothing to give them,no idea if will repeat but I'd rather be prepared)
Wrap box I'd had Amazon deliveries in paper and stand out mini tree on
Continue sifting thru stash bags

EustaciaVye · 23/12/2018 16:23

Thanks all.
In true spirit of flylady I have looked around me at all of my mess and ignored it in favour of some craft stuff today whilst nursing a hangover. Will pick up properly again, as you you do.
Christmas is coming so everywhere is a mess anyway 🎅

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/12/2018 16:25

"The tree is up in the Playmobil house it must be nearly Xmas"

Fledglings Flying Festively - the December Flylady thread
Stilllivinginazoo · 23/12/2018 17:07

Another two stashed bags sorted(why do I do that rather than just bloody sort things instead of adding to the damn mess?!)

Kitchen floor swept.i will scrub that in the morning when no one else is about to annoy me/step on it!!

Dinner tonight for little ones, beef grills, mashed potato and cauliflower(simple so I can continue trying to get this place sorted)
Another load folded and put away towels coming out of wash in 15 mins, then more goes in(there's a definate dent in laundry pile, but oh my goodness it was a mahoosive one)

Slightlycoddled · 23/12/2018 17:36

Aw Zoo that really takes me back! Really charming! Thank you for posting 💕. Love the tiny tree!

Thanks to be the bout of flu we all had a while back, when everyone drifted about in pjs and ancient track suit bottoms, I am reasonably on top of the laundry! But that's about the only thing I am on top of, and all the laundered neatly stacked ironed piles have just been dumped upstairs willy nilly and not put away properly. I need to sort these ready for our swift exit post Christmas.

The tree is up on dd's old Ikea child's tale which has been covered in a red cloth (how the table survived the charity purge I don't know but thank heavens it did). And it looks surprisingly ok. Branches are drying out so we can't decorate it tonight but first thing tomorrow. (Usually do it on Christmas eve in continental manner.)

I have done the sideboard and mantelpieces ie taken everything off them, polished silver bits, polished decanters, washed glass vases, dusted candles, sorted table cloths and polished all photo frames and arranged on piano. And diced with death wobbling on a ladder to dust chandeliers (which sounds very posh but they are incredibly decrepit bronze numbers we found at a brocante and had wired up).

Also sorted all table linen for three day Christmas period.

Dh has very kindly gone and picked up florist order (hyacinths, lilies, Christmas roses). And he also did first Christmas food shop. Got a mahoosive fragrant thyme plant for Euros 2 at Syrian shop and some beautiful Medjool dates. Middle Eastern shops are fantastic for shopping at this time of year; have amazing selection of herbs and spices and magnificent dried and fresh fruit at bargain prices.

Also done four loads towels/dog blankets/bed linen/tea towels etc.

And success: for the first time ever, having been perfectly fine with one another but not exactly friendly, the two furries have played happily in the garden together. So happy for furry1 in particular as it's a huge change that has been foisted on him and he is not the most self-confident of characters Xmas Smile

Tiring a bit now but most crack on!

Cagliostro · 23/12/2018 17:40

I went to Asda.

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/12/2018 17:57

That was brave of you cag I hit Asda at 9(small store can open before trading law's,Aldi at 10 home ditch bags then Waitrose at 1130.waitrose was the worst ...I've often found "posher" people are more selfish/entitled/rude(blanket observation, there are always exceptions) but we were jostled and tutted way more for "being in the way" there than other shops

Slightlycoddled · 23/12/2018 19:08

Supper has been eaten (baked spuds, naice ham, salad).
Eight o'clock here. Just about to start on family wrapping.

Thank you so much for this thread this month Toostressy and everyone, it is keeping me going! Flowers

foxessocks · 23/12/2018 19:13

I am soooooooo tired! And it's not even Xmas eve yet!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/12/2018 20:44

Hello all .

Did you get your food delivery Ive?

foxes BrewBrewBrew to keep you going.

Thanks SC! I feel the same way about the thread this month actually. Woohoo for furries playing.

Well done for getting through Asda Cag and for doing your shopping zoo and Meet.

Aww love the playmobil zoo. There is a playmobil Christmas thread on here; I’ll see if I can find it.

Christmas really does seem to create mess Eustacia.

Heard from my in laws who are meant to be coming tomorrow. They are both I’ll. thankfully just with a cold but it means they are not sure if they can come and will have to let us know in the morning. So we may have two disappointmented children and either way now I need to sort extra childcare out for the 27th as they were going to have the girls but even if they come will be too tired to have them now. Or they might not but I can’t risk having no childcare. So everyone including in laws is a bit unreasonably annoyed with things I think. Will have to see how things are tomorrow. Ugh. Then I feel guilty for feeling annoyed as it can’t be helped.

To do:-
Shower
Sew a fucking Santa hat. I bloody hate sewing.
Put away wrapping paper as wrapping is DONE
Prep some bits for tomorrow as we need to be up and out as of course I forgot to buy some bits and we don’t have enough salmon for tomorrow night as I think they will come in the end.

Spoke to my parents today and told them that we would not be going out into the busy town centre the day they come up (Friday) as it will be super busy and stressful. My mum seems a bit annoyed but really, who would sales shop with 2 kids in a town centre over half an hour’s drive away if they didn’t have to?

Must get up and shower but will do links next.

Meant to say big festive wing flaps to all. I’ll post links over the next few days which will include the holiday clean up missions. Flylady makes it clear that the idea of these is to fit around what works for you and your traditions. If you want to ignore all missions etc over Xmas of course you can. If you want to save the clean up missions until a later date of course you can do that too.

Just because we are not thinking about it but it is rapidly approaching, I volunteer for the January thread.

I have had the over tired grumps and people have been caught in the cross fire a bit BlushHmm But apart from the not finished knitting gifts I am ready for Christmas tomo. Not ready for ds going away but will have to fudge that in the morning.

I am wishing you all on the final stages of prep, peaceful restful sleep tonight so that you can tackle all that you need to tackle tomo

Slightlycoddled · 24/12/2018 00:40

Really good of you Hills , especially as Jan can be a bit of a manic one! Halo

Well done on being ready for your 24th celebration! Star. I am relieved that I am not doing a continental Christmas this year as I desperately need another day for prep. Instead of finishing one thing completely and moving on to the next, I have only half finished all the tasks so they will all need revisiting tomorrow (groan). I should carry on tonight but it's 1.40 here and I've given up!

Hope you get some decent slumber tonight and have a lovely day/evening tomorrow! 🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄

Slightlycoddled · 24/12/2018 00:47

Thanks for links info and hope you manage to sort childcare Toostressy and that your pils feel better soon.

I share your loathing of sales shopping btw, esp with los in tow.

Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight Foxes if at all possible!

Bowerbird5 · 24/12/2018 01:27

Welcome Eustacia.

We went past Asda. No wonder you are rocking Cags.
I have never stopped today except for church and when eating. Was up and about finishing tree then Mass. collected turkey from butchers
Went on to second larger butcher for gammon, veg, cheeses, etc queues at both about two people in front🤗 carried to M& S we had to park at Curry’. Hadn’t had tv or radio on so didn’t know about Indonesia which is probably just as well as DD flying back via Hong Kong. Awful news then.
M&S busy and as I ran about looking for puff pastry DH queued. No puff but otherwise we finished shop and home by 3pm and then cleaned out fridge which I asked DH to do before but he didn’t. Threw out a few things and some herbs later.
Put a few decorations and card to make it look better in the kitchen.
Forgotten to take presents to women’s refuge must do in am. After osteo
Hope is goes well tomorrow everyone sounds super busy. DD lands at 6:30 am.

Bowerbird5 · 24/12/2018 01:31

He woke me up asking if I was in bed! He told me to go about 1 1 but I was still sorting stuff out re presents. I keep biting my tongue.
