[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Oh Hills that is so cruel.

Bowerbird5 · 22/12/2018 15:19

To mention Brie and cranberry.

I loved Brie and cranberry and now I can’t have it.😭

Cagliostro · 22/12/2018 15:55

Catching up, :o at prism of wine glass and half man half mattress!

I think I’m half woman half sofa.

My friend visited today and she was talking about work, she’s a reception teacher. She is so so stressed and with no support, having particular issues with a child with severe but undiagnosed (and denied by parents) SN. It baffles me bower that in such a stressful job people aren’t supporting each other :( Thanks

We went for breakfast at the local and chatted for ages. I wanted to be child free (DH off today) as she also had to tell me about her issues conceiving, she’s got a diagnosis now and it’s not impossible but may be a long road :(

Random opportunity for decluttering, turns out her sister is due soon with a girl and really struggling financially, so I gave her the last of the small baby clothes that I didn’t know what to do with. So that’s a win for both of us. But I’m sad it’s for her sister and not her :(

DH has got some last minute bits, and he put all the pictures up yesterday. Looks great :)

Slightlycoddled · 22/12/2018 16:24

Received call from tree people. They were sorry but choice was too small tree or tree with two heads so went with shorter one. It's arrived and I am now regretting my decision.

However, I may be able to find a table to put it on. And with new "puppy" around, it being raised up may be no bad thing!

Just a bit disappointed because this crumbly old house has very few advantages save for tall ceilings (in which setting tall tree looks fab). But focusing on Toostressy's mantra ...it's not a real problem and it really isn't!! And it was half price which helps!

I can definitely identify with your sleep "method" Hills

Sorry about your friend Cag. I'm sure being able to talk to you must have helped.

Have the same squirrel in traffic affliction Zoo I'm Mumsnetting and watching HOYS instead of cracking on! Someone shoot me!

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/12/2018 17:18

Hills I fussy fucker with cheese.dont eat brie or blue types.mature cheddar and I'd bite yer arm orf....

Cag nice to help out,but sad for your friend.sges lucky to have you to talk to as you are being both kind and sensitive

Tada
6random bags from behind sofa dealt with, rubbish in bags and belongings deposited in proper homes
Cleared computer table of stuff, and TV unit
Making meatballs for zoolets tonight

DS was stressing so sat and coloured a pic for a bit.hes gone to Minecraft with lil zoo and I've put call the midwife on to relax for a bit whilst I start dinner

Bowerbird5 · 22/12/2018 18:14

ha I'm watching that! I mean I am tidying the sitting room and wrapping presents and cutting out hens for tomorrows advent window pane.

Wrapping BF present difficult shape. I thought I was finished then remembered hers and found a pair of bamboo, sprout socks for DD. Very suitable for a vegan. Hip flask for her DP which I bought but couldn't find last year. Think it might be needed more this year.

WE can see two tables in dining room. DH has gone for a pint. My back has improved with two co codamol and some deep freeze.

SC shame about tree. You might find abig one last minute. They were giving some away last year.DD will be shock to find a plastic one in our house first one in forty years we had a silver tree in the 70's for first year. I think someone gave it to us. Might be an idea with new furry though. No chocolate soldiers to make them ill.

Cagliostro · 22/12/2018 18:41

I had to google HOYS!

We are watching muppet Christmas carol. Not that I’ve been concentrating. I forgot my tablet again this morning FFS.

I’ve not done anything else useful. DH has brought in and cleaned the outside table so we have enough seating for everyone.

Cagliostro · 22/12/2018 18:41

Totally intrigued about the two headed Christmas tree!

Slightlycoddled · 22/12/2018 19:14

[Puts large Dettol bottle back in bathroom] Too late re: illness Bower puppy just upchucked on the parquet. She appears to be constantly hungry. So soft-hearted Dh keeps feeding her despite my saying we should stick to pkt guidelines.

And dd has brought friends back for "spontaneous" pizza having been out for just over an hour. It's lovely to see them all but ...

... I am getting my comeuppance for not cracking on earlier! Xmas Confused

Two-headed tree was my very rough (sorry) Fr translation Cag Xmas Grin And sorry yes HOYS is every horse-person's (partic if they show or jump) ultimate goal - as all the finalists from every village, town and county show feed in to it - so you get the best of the best showing there although sadly they televise very little of that bit! I'd love to go one year but it is always at such a mad time!

Bower oooh (nostalgia hit!) we had a silver tree in the seventies too! They were all the rage!

Zoo wow to six BRC clearance!

Anyone got a bottle of gin dangling on a piece of string?

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/12/2018 19:24
Slightlycoddled · 22/12/2018 19:29

Your a life-saver Zoo!

Slightlycoddled · 22/12/2018 19:32
Stilllivinginazoo · 22/12/2018 19:42

I give up for today
I'm not being listened to
People are messing up my cleaning efforts then getting stroppy I've shouted
What's the fucking point?!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/12/2018 20:00

zoo, Flowers have a swig if Gin. do you think this could help you reach your fuck it moment (sorry foxes, I am stealing that phrase now!).

SC, I think you can view your small tree as being a very sensible, organised decision thanks to new dog in the house Xmas Smile.

Cag, can you set a daily reminder on your phone or similar, even a post-it note, to remind you to take the tablet? I do this sometimes if I need to remember stuff. Love the muppets Christmas carol and not watched it for years! May need to this year.

Infertility is so shit for everyone Involved. It’s hard to support someone through it when you have your own DCs.

Hills, it definitely is the season to battle with to do lists!

I do love a silver tree Bower Xmas Grin. We have a fake tree. It is not the same as a real one but after years and years of not having one I have sort of accepted the lack of smell. Meant to buy some fragrance sticks for it this year and didn’t get round to it, maybe next year.

Ta da:-
Kids in bed although DD1 is awake
DH collapsed on sofa which means I can guilt-free drink the glass of prosecco left in the bottle. None left to share in the naughty corner, sorry!
Have made food shop list of perishables for tomorrow
Had lovely meal with friends.

To do:-
Look at annual leave for 2019 - essential to get it booked early in both our workplaces and both my and DH’s boss want requests in now or just after xmas.
Laundry, does it ever end Xmas Confused?
Not sure what else!
Maybe wrapping if I CBA.

Forestier, just seen you on the Tesco thread. Nearly ‘waved’ but am never sure of MN etiquette on such things!

Saw you too Stressy! We are stocked up with stollen etc now. I've written to Tesco to complain, after giving it some thought.

Am intrigued by two headed tree - would solve the problem about whether to put the golden star or silver angel on top of the tree. Star won this year.

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 22/12/2018 20:16

Evening all Xmas Grin

I have soooooooooooooooooooo much to do

Who has the stick

FestiveForestieraNoel · 22/12/2018 20:18

Well you seem to be much better!

Cagliostro · 22/12/2018 20:19

Erm, I do have an alarm already 😳

However if I haven’t had breakfast already (the tablets must be taken after food) I ignore it and then forget after 😳

I am beyond useless

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 22/12/2018 20:23

Grin i am feeling rather festive 🎄

Have just wrapped 6 presents with help of dd. Dc4 is tucked up in bed and rest are watching home alone

Those are the only six presents out of 65million that i have wrapped though so i should probably shift my arse

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/12/2018 20:32

Cag, Can you put a post-it in the kitchen cupboard or on a breakfast cereal packet?

Ive ————————————>

Cagliostro · 22/12/2018 21:19

Tbh stressy I could have it tattooed inside my eyelids and I’d still forget as soon as I opened my eyes again.

In all seriousness, I was having a serious conversation with my friend about different medication options that may help far more than antidepressants ever have. So once my referral to the mental health team comes I will chase that up. I also plan to ask for a further referral, to an occupational therapist. I need help navigating life with the conditions I have.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/12/2018 21:36

Sounds like a plan Flowers.

Ta da:-
Wine poured
Made plan for tomorrow and Xmas Eve - I think a full weekly calendar check is too optimistic this time of year.
Laundry in progress
Made list for DH for annual leave even though we are currently not speaking

To do:-
Request annual leave for myself (we have an online system)
Possibly wrapping, not sure yet.

Have clutterbug videos on in the background and actually feel fairly relaxed, for now!

"Those are the only six presents out of 65million that i have wrapped though so i should probably shift my arse"

Xmas Grin

Gawd, same here I've with tinselled covered knobs on . Stick isn 't doing it for me. Think ruddy great medieval pike might do it?

Toostressy when you say, "we are nearly there" were you referring to insanity or Christmas prep?

Festive yep, missed a trick, have gay friends who really do have two fairies on top of theirs ... .

Zoo and Cag and Bower and everyone else in need, hope you are RESTING.
