[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Put shop away
Pick up Dd2 earlier than the early finish today(allowed her permission to leave claiming dental app as tutor is being a twunt and she didn't fancy being stuck with him for an hour eating food/class party)

Flop in bed(my three hour sleep and awake since 230 caught up with me)
Lil zoo woke me 410 and I leapt up thinking I was late collecting her (she broke up wed and norm finishes school at 320!!)she found that hysterically funny!!

Going to make little ginger village( we bought last night from Morrison's reduced £3),then paper snowflakes to stick to living room windows then finally it's an Xmas film.

Need locate my Xmas cheer as DP here today and I'm feeling a trifle psycho killerish

foxessocks · 21/12/2018 16:23

Lovely hair zoo

Hills oh no , deep breaths!

Well my mince pies have crumbled Xmas Angry third time I've made them and all been perfect so far but when I'm making them for guests tomorrow they go wrong - typical!!

Luckily I have reached my "fuck it" moment which happens every year around this time where I realise not everything will get done but it really doesn't matter!! So I'm officially going to try and enjoy myself from now on even if I'm doing housework. Cue me dancing round the house whilst trying to clean the loos Xmas GrinBrewGinWine

foxessocks · 21/12/2018 16:24

Oh sc if I'd seen your hair I honestly would have thought it was a good idea but then I have very little style! Grin

foxessocks · 21/12/2018 16:25
Stilllivinginazoo · 21/12/2018 16:27

X posts foxes
Crumbly mince pies are better than rock hard ones!it is what it is

Slightlycoddled · 21/12/2018 16:52

Any farm shop near youse Hills?

Zoo eccentric English woman I can do! Xmas Grin. And I'm totally with you on the imminent other-half-i-cide.

Oh no Foxes that's sod's law re: pastry for guests! But totally with you on having reached "peak fuck it" today!

And thanks regards: hair Foxes and Toostressy both very kind interpretations! Xmas Grin

Meal planning had gone out of the window this week. Nothing much in. Sod it. Going to have to nip to supermarket. GAH!

foxessocks · 21/12/2018 17:31

Will the supermarkets be as crazy where you are sc as they are here?! Dh said the supermarket was busy at 7am this morning.

Zoo I know exactly the bit you mean Grin

Right, I'm done, I can't clean anymore today!

I've tested a mince pie and they taste fine just crumbly. Taste is the most important thing surely! Dh tested one too and said they're delicious. That'll do me!

Slightlycoddled · 21/12/2018 19:03

Not really Foxes. NY is much more of a big deal here tbh! And even my small local "chain" supermarket is open for a few hours on Christmas morning. Also lots of people buy in from traiteurs for their 24th eve celebratory meal. Christmas is quite quiet really except in this house!

Slightlycoddled · 21/12/2018 19:10

Having said that, to be more accurate, there are queues down the street for the bakeries, butchers, fish, cheese and chocolate shops etc at key moments! There is a rather upmarket fish shop near us where a chap in an apron and cap shucks oysters under an awning thing, and there are always queues of people waiting to buy a little wooden crateful with ice and straw etc.

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/12/2018 19:58

Lil zoo and her gingerbread house

FestiveForestieraNoel · 21/12/2018 20:28

GAH! Online shop arrived sans plum pudding and stollen. Damn you Tesco. They've run out.

Will scavenge at M and S tomorrow.

Have turkey crown and ham so relatively happy.

Nice gingerbread house there zoo

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/12/2018 20:41

Girls in bed, I am in PJs. DH has a cold so he is also in PJs. Going to do a power hour in the house. Possibly through the prism of a wine glass Xmas Grin.

Tea needs clearing up but the main issue is laundry.

OP posts:
Slightlycoddled · 21/12/2018 20:52

I'm just about to start again after a break Toostressy so I'm with you in spirit. Have to hang up washing, wrap presents, write local hand-delivered cards.

Hope you had good time with friend Cag!

How annoying Festive especially if you have to venture out just for those specific items!

Great photo Zoo! Xmas Smile

Tasty and crumbly is best combination Foxes!

Waves to everyone else! Had better crack on!

Cagliostro · 21/12/2018 21:58

Nice time shopping despite the crowds. Basically finished just need to wrap more.

SassitudeandSparkle · 21/12/2018 22:19

but seen through the prism of wine glass it doesn't seem quite so bad

Squad goals for 2019 right here, people.

zoo Flowers must be a tough day for you. We are heading towards brace territory after Christmas, I am dreading the fitting and tightenings. Similar reasons to yours with the fang. Few more days of soft food due to the extractions (first side hasn't quite healed yet either, never mind the second)

I am well behind so will be trying the prism approach tonight again Wine

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/12/2018 22:25

Well I managed half an hour of fairly unproductive work. Going to update this thread then watch telly for half an hour. Aunt tomorrow will be my day Xmas Grin.

I can definitely get on board with that squad goal Sass Xmas Smile. Glad you had a productive day Cag. As you say Forestier, you take the rough with the smooth in online food shopping.

Lovely photo zoo Xmas Smile. Also loved your description of all the different shops SC.

I really need to get to my fuck it moment foxes. Feel stressed about all there is to do while feeling annoyed with myself that I am stressed as some people have real problems in life. Hoping to reach my moment tomorrow!

Big festive wing flaps to everyone else, even if you’re not really feeling it yet.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/12/2018 22:26

Aunt tomorrow?! Maybe tomorrow.

Also missed the bit about your DD’s teeth Sass, sounds painful Flowers.

FestiveForestieraNoel · 21/12/2018 22:27

I ended up taking two nurofen after last night's champagne. I'm just not used to it Xmas Grin. Avoiding wine today. Grin

FestiveForestieraNoel · 21/12/2018 22:28

Hope you are okay zoo and sass.

SassitudeandSparkle · 21/12/2018 22:39

My small bottles of Prosecco in my advent calendar are enough tbh, a full bottle of wine lasts me all weekend if I start it on Friday and there is often a glass left on Monday night as well - I'm such a lightweight now.

DD is doing OK thanks, the second lot didn't settle down quite as fast as the first ones but the pain level is low now. I am dreading the brace fitting though. Buy shares in calpol now.

Wrapping is the most dreaded part of Christmas for me - I'm terrible at it. Also, I leave buying until the last minute which makes the wrapping harder. I've definitely used the prism method for that a few times which doesn't really help tbh.

House needs serious work but I'm buried in the prism now. Always tomorrow ....

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/12/2018 22:48

Missing online order was a book/dvd present type order. It has been agreed to wait and order in new year.

Funny you should ask that, I am hopefully off to a farmer's market tomo morning. Grin if i wake up in time

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/12/2018 22:54

Ah I see, glad you can get it sorted for after Christmas then.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 22/12/2018 06:36

Not as early as you Zoo but regardless of when I need to get up (7 on weekdays, alarm at 6.45) I wake up at about 6 with a stomach full of butterflies worrying about all sorts of stuff. A few weeks ago I woke at 8 at a weekend and it felt great, really satisfying.

Yesterday I started tackling the paper mountain that had slid off my desk. It is now all over the kitchen table, but is sorted into piles and about a quarter of it has been shredded or recycled, so that needs finishing this morning.
