[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Sorry you've had such a run of illness Ive.

KingsScorn · 16/12/2018 10:00

Morning!

Cold/cough getting better each day - feel up to doing something now. I am rather behind with work and housework now though. Oh well. I've got zero interest in getting a tree until the house is in better shape - at this rate we won't be having one!

I'm going to do my PO3 (power of three) method which is to write lists of three things I have to complete before I write the next list/have a break until I feel a bit more in control and out of the overwhelmed/procrastination cycle...

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/12/2018 11:09

ive I'm not done..few bits still waiting from Amazon, still need finish sort dd1 and fiancee,"d"p and couple others...
DS birthday is Tuesday.......
I also feel your pain.i am on week 4now of bastarding cold that has rendered me unable to smell or taste properly.dd2 will be on week 4 tuesday.shes developing a cough that hurts her chest

Survived shopping just
With a £20 budget(to include £5 on sensitive cat kibble) to last til Tuesday with 3kids that eat huge amounts of food I had a sulking fully grown man as j wouldn't spend £1.20 on a banana malt loaf or over a quid ona pack of rolls only he eatsXmas Angry
Meanwhile back in the real world....

Scraped cat poo off lil zoos sheets(don't ask about human hair thru cat poo and still attached cats arse) and put in a boil wash

Helped dd2 wrap a heart shaped Nivea tin for friend (I say wrapped more of a try and ensure its covered in paper and taped to stay that wayGrin!)
Shop bought away(least that was quick)
Soaking very smelly socks before present to washing machine(can't afford to offend it so badly it goes on strike!!)

To do
Search my Pinterest threads for how to make fancy snowflakes to do with zoolets to pritt to living room window
Drop dd2 at friends for a dvd, pizza for couple hours
Get DS out as dry and crisp and sunny for a walk, posting couple cards en route
Decide wtf we going to make with what's in plus essentials bought today(very low supplies fruit n veg.have weekly child benefit Tuesday which I need get D's his cake with, and I get paid again Thurs so only a few days thankfully)
Continue washing mountain

HillsBesideTheSea · 16/12/2018 11:22

I had to be done, we are celebrating Christmas today. Just off to finish cooking Christmas Dinner and open presents...

FestiveForestieraNoel · 16/12/2018 11:38

Sorry to hear you're heading into week 3 of illness I've. Tis not fair.

I have tried to catch up with all various fledgling goings on - my goodness everyone is busy. I think I'm just about gliding but I feel like a curmudgeon. And I'm stiff in the cold (old age).

I'm stocking the naughty corner with Christmas cheer dust and warm blanket and treats. Zone cleaning's gone to pot.

SlightlyCoddled · 16/12/2018 12:48

Happy Christmas Hills !! Xmas Smile Xmas Smile Xmas Smile

I've sorry you've been plagued with illness and here's to a speedy recovery Brew. I've finished present shopping (but still need to get sil birthday present for 27th) but mainly because a lot of them have gone/are going by post and are needed for office on Wed of next week.

KingsScorn glad you are feeling better! I am with you on the tree business. Only ordering now for the weekend I think as downstairs still a bit of a tip.

Zoo hope your cold clears up soon and sorry about your dp's Christmas hours Sad

Cagliostro · 16/12/2018 14:03

After a brief few days of not being ill I’m now back with another hellish period. Although thankfully not as bad as it has been so I think getting back to some semblance of normal. Also just realised the scan people never did phone back so I must ring them on Monday. If they bump me down the list because of this I will be raging - the onus was on them as they were just waiting to get the dates.

Needless to say I’m not going anywhere today. Must do the last bits of online shopping, I need to write a list of what still needs sourcing.

Haven’t even thought about food yet. Fuck.

Caglets have put the tree up. No idea how that’s going to work with the toddler tyrant.

BAH HUMBUG

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 16/12/2018 14:35

Happy Christmas Hills Xmas Smile.

We are travelling back home now and the traffic is terrible (I’m not the driver don’t worry) Xmas Sad. DD1 has a party later which we left in time for but I am worried now we will be late for.

I am trying to convince myself that Christmas is not worth stressing about and I’m afraid it is not working very well. You’re right though of course Bower, need to count our blessings.

Ive, what a rubbish December you have had. To answer your question, I have got a lot of shopping done and dusted as we had to give presents to my parents and brother last weekend and to some other relatives this weekend. I have written some cards although not enough and not yet posted. Need to do teacher presents etc, most of which I have bought. Have managed to lose one present, thankfully just a small stocking filler for DD2 but it is annoying me. Any ideas where I would have put a key ring anyone??!

Grin at toddler tyrant Cag. I have booked an online food shop slot but it is not on a great day, had hoped to get closer to Christmas but left it too late. Also currently there is no Christmas stuff in my basket. Ugh.

Kings, I’d forgotten about the power of 3, might try it again.

Waves to SC, Meet, zoo, Forestier and everyone else.

HillsBesideTheSea · 16/12/2018 15:10

I need to a lot of work for a deadline. My stomach is happily full of food and my eyes are sleepy. Soo much to do, so little wish. Survived family christmas. A crap ton of stuff never got done, I was bailed out my one of my sisters and her boyfriend. But it was a nice time. Which means all pressure is off for actual Christmas and there is just a few of us for the 25th. Which means minimal fuss, minimal effort and hopefully I am not cooking that dinner too. cos if I am we might be having scrambled egg on toast Wink

Mostly all my fears and nightmares about this weekend were not justified thanks to the help of good people. House is a bit of a state, but not as much of a state before the stash and dash. We have enough leftovers that no one needs to cook for a few days. Perfect Christmas dinner Wink

Slightlycoddled · 16/12/2018 16:03

So glad it went well Hills and hurrah for helpful sisters! Also, that you have a more low-key, less pressured time to come which I hope you can relax and enjoy.

Safe travelling Toostressy!

Forgot to mention our news in previous post. At quite the worst moment/wrong time of the year - as these things happen - we have adopted a new member of the family. Photos attached! She is very demanding and a bit chewy still (only one and a bit) but highly intelligent and absolutely adorable! Smile A furry sister to furry1! (Please ignore crack in kitchen floor Blush)

FestiveForestieraNoel · 16/12/2018 16:57

Lovely doggy 🐕

foxessocks · 16/12/2018 18:46

Aww so cute sc

Glad you had a good Christmas day hills and hooray for leftovers (my favourite part of Christmas eating is the leftovers from the main meal!)

The dc have been to the pantomime with the grandparents today so we've had a child free afternoon. They are due back any minute. I basically just worked and dh studied but it was nice to have the time and peace to get some done!

Ta da
Worked
Dishwasher on and emptied
Dh done more laundry
I had a quick tidy round
Amended food shop for tomorrow
Shop and scan thing
Printed a voucher

I had high hopes of doing some wrapping today but that didn't happen. Must do it tomorrow. (I only have to do dh stuff as dh has wrapped most of the rest already - he is chief wrapper in this house!)

Just having a Gin (sc I'm with you with extra alcohol consumption this week Xmas Blush) and listening to Michael Bublé while we wait for the dc to come back no doubt over excited and over tired Grin definitely nearly Christmas! Dd has 3 days left at school of which one is her nativity (I'm so excited and nervous I don't know why!)

Slightlycoddled · 16/12/2018 19:05

Thanks Meet Foxes and Festive

[Festive btw, in addition to dreich I have just heard a fabulous Scottish word on Countryfile; "fudder" meaning "small gust of wind". Have I got that right?]

Foxes I am with you - leftovers are my favourite too - in particular, the Boxing day spread! (Is there no end to Mr Fox's talents - wrapping as well as dumplings, eh?! Wink )

Waves to Meet and to everyone else!

FestiveForestieraNoel · 16/12/2018 19:24

Had to look it up SC - loud blast of wind. Learn something new every day!

Bitter here today.

Slightlycoddled · 16/12/2018 19:44

Oh must have misheard it; loud it is! Great word all the same Grin!

FestiveForestieraNoel · 16/12/2018 20:02

My son uses drookit. Means drenched.

FestiveForestieraNoel · 16/12/2018 20:04

And stocious is drunk in Doric scots.

Slightlycoddled · 16/12/2018 20:08

Fabtastic both! Grin[

(Although fabtastic isn't really)

Confused
