September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

So Here we go with a gentle start. And I am going to be clear here. Some of the baby steps can seem a bit twee, some you might not feel apply right now. Don't panic, it is ok. HOWEVER some of them are more of a concept than a rule and it is the adherence to concept that is most important not how they are phrase. Don't worry, the concept is helpful most of the time.

Right the first link is to the launch pad. This one is important because it is a good way to find things

launch pad

The next one is the baby step: you may have shined your sink but is it fly lady shiny?

babystep

Missions - targeted tasks. It is a Saturday, and there are no missions for weekend days. However, some fledglings find the weekend is the only time they can do the missions. That's ok. Have a look and see what might work for you

missions

Zones: the house is divided into zones and the missions work by tackling the zones. The zone changes each week.

Zones

Daily focus: gotta love the daily focus. This is the thing that helps you get and schedule regular things. Because the fly lady system is designed to routine cleaning etc so that there is more time for other stuff Saturday is family fun day. Go do something fun with the family.

daily focus

And finally for those of you needing to see the bigger picture, take a look at the flight plan www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60 Don't worry if some of it doesn't make sense and is vague it ties in with the baby steps and builds up to this from the babystep 1 starting point.

RIght good luck. I am off for a large coffee and to drain half a fish tank.

Signing in thanks hills

Feel like garbage this morning, crappy evening all round and fuck all sleep. So that’s a great start to the month.

Have put the wool wash back on rinse as last night I went to hang it out and there was stuff on it.

Today the Caglets start their online learning stuff again.

BuffyBee · 01/09/2018 09:39

Looked after Dgs10 last night as his Df was fishing and his Dm on a very rare girls night out.
We watched two films, Swallows and Amazons and The Jungle Book and he was up quite late so I'm hoping he's ok for his Rugby practice this morning.
When I got home at midnight, Ds's dog (who I am looking after while they're away), had cocked his leg and done a tiny pee on my dining room table leg.
My Ddog had of course been "good as gold". You see! this is why I never have boy dogs, they forget where they are sometimes and just do a territorial pee mark.

Ta da
Fed 🐱and 🐕 x 2
Clean table leg and scrub carpet in dining room 😠
Washing out of dryer, (left overnight) and folded.
White wash on
Swish and swipe.
Sit with Brew

To do
Just basics today as feel a bit weary!

Bye for now!

IVEgotthePOWER · 01/09/2018 09:39

IVEgotthePOWER · 01/09/2018 09:41

Oooo i love jungle book 🐒🐅🐍

BuffyBee · 01/09/2018 09:54

Hahaha! So do I. It was the 2016 Jungle Book movie. It was so good!
Dgs10 had seen it before and loved it at it made me "jump" a couple of times!

I feel tired and generally fuzzy head and like I'm coming down with something Cag. Hope you feel better soon. ☕🍰

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 09:57

Oh I am also feeling crap but i thought it was a flare Blush Migraine has been hoovering like a dark cloud threatening to come a spoil all the fun the last few days.

Sounds like you have been having fun Buffy

Motivation is lacking this morning. There is a crap ton to do. But. I. Don't. want. To.

Thinking about it, this is probably because I need to

  1. sort lego
  2. go bra shopping

the first cos it is going into partial storage, the second cos an underwire snapped yesterday Sad. I hate both of these activities.

OP posts:
foxessocks · 01/09/2018 10:31

I'm off out with my mum today - child free! I'm excited especially as the dc are arguing already.

Now I've made some serious headway with decluttering I'm going to try and get back into the fly lady system but first I do have to finish the kitchen declutter which was the last BIG thing I need to do. I've done a few cupboads / drawers but still lots to do.

foxessocks · 01/09/2018 10:33

I love the Jungle Book too!! Keep trying to get dd into it but she doesn't really appreciate it yet. She prefers The Little Mermaid and Frozen (which I do also quite enjoy tbf)

Hi all. Got fuck all else done but had a good chat with DH at least. Oh and I did put another wash on.

DS is building his massive Lego type thing and DH has gone to work. I need to grab lunch get dressed and get baby dressed and get us to this street party we were invited to. CBA really but I’ve been feeling quite lonely at times so need to make the effort.

And Cagletini just pulled down the remains of a pack of twiglets so I need to clear that up. She likes them. Oh well it’s high in B vitamins or something.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 01/09/2018 17:28

Signing in. Thanks for the thread Hills Smile.

foxessocks · 01/09/2018 17:31

Had a lovely day with my mum . Dh has made a cake and done lots of decorating while I was out 🌟

I haven't labelled any of dd uniform yet. She doesn't need it until Friday but still I should probably do something about that. I was thinking of just a Sharpie?! Is that bad...

Catmatrat · 01/09/2018 17:58

First post on here.
I’ve had a bit of a breakdown today. Quite recently single and have been struggling to keep on top of the house as well as working full time with two lower end primary children.

My ex is here now helping me to get on top of things and then I might try this!

MsForestier · 01/09/2018 18:06

Welcome catmatrat you're never behind with Flylady. I just declutter a bit first and then do the weekly clean of whatever room is being focused on.
