September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

House in good shape currently as is my head. Happy to have links/ no links whatever you do I'm happy.

Hope all keeping well. Read a book called 'Have your best year yet' so life in general more goal oriented and organised.

Have not started homework yet this weekend...

MsForestier · 29/09/2018 21:11

Not fit at ALL though....

Bowerbird5 · 29/09/2018 23:58

Me neither! Leaves cake, wine and gin in naughty corner.

Did two loads of washing, one was in plastic bag and has been in there for weeks. It is stuff for charity shop. Didn’t realise it was still there. Cleaned hob dirty look towards DH. Had left over fish pie for lunch yum and left over spaghetti. Bol mince and macaroni for tea as DH and DD came home full after eating.
Hurray. I cleaned out three bags of RC from school. I reorganised RE file in order for this year threw out duplicates and stuff I don’t need or old 2005😳 made a bag for each day at school. I have three more to do and I suspect there is at least one in car. I also have some at school and the filing cabinet to do. I think most of that will need to stay. I hope to clean out top drawer and put the other files in it. I would like to have none at home but speaking to other staff that seems impossible. Everyone seems to have RBC.
I also managed to make bed and I put away a small amount of clothes.it is a start though.
zoo sorry you have had a difficult few days. Does DS anknowledge what started it ?Our DS3 was bullied but would not tell us for months but refused school it was a bloody nightmare. Eventually it all came out. The school were worse than useless and later discovered there were lots in that year being bullied by older kids. Little shits made his life hell.
I’ve glad to hear DH is behaving. Sorry you are so tired\busy.

Bowerbird5 · 30/09/2018 00:05

Houdini escaped again.🐔 I asked vet about clipping wings and he said doesn’t really work. Going to have to spend more money on the panels I first thought about.

Morning all!

Grin Hills

A warm welcome to Notso!

Sorry Zoo Bower Sass going through tough times Flowers

And hope Cag Honu and MsForestier feel better soon!

And cripes I've good luck finding time to study! Really admire you for it and hope all goes well.

Sorry if I have missed anyone out as I can't scroll any more on this device!

Dh and I have had mahoosive row (and I mean mahoosive). As a result, I have come back to town early. Feel crap tbh. But at least it is sunny, if cold.

Spreadingcudweed · 30/09/2018 10:03

New stream-lined October thread here.

Cagliostro · 30/09/2018 10:31

Things have got a bit horrific overnight. Have sent DH to Asda for new sheets and leggings and stuff. I hate being a woman😰😰😰

He’s also getting easy dinner etc as I can barely stand up

Spreadingcudweed · 30/09/2018 10:44

Poor you Cag soak in COLD water before washing... Vanish stain sticks (old fashioned bar of soap type) excellent at removing blood and it will come out... believe me have lots of experience of this with me and dd currently!

Should have said earlier, humungous thanks to Hills for September thread! Flowers Cake [new knitting needles]

Cagliostro · 30/09/2018 11:48

Cheers sc 💐

Have also got some ready meals and DH surprised me with a fluffy dressing gown 😍

Definitely an easy day ahead.

Bit worried as we have people round tomorrow (to study Japanese) I don’t want to cancel on them again.

Spreadingcudweed · 30/09/2018 11:56

Take it steady Cag

Being a woman is a pita (literally!) sometimes. I am going to have months off soon to have womb/bowel surgery and I honestly can't afford the time but needs must. So frustrating! And poor dd is really really suffering every month (fainting/vomiting etc.) We're going to have to do something because she can't take any more time off school. Bloody unfair and I hate all men today (apart from Cag's dh who sounds lovely Grin).

Spreadingcudweed · 30/09/2018 12:15

Ta da:
early mass
porridge for DD and eggs for me
2x washing on
collect mugs from around house (thank you DD)
dw on
changed tea towels, towel in kitchen and cloakroom
distributed loo rolls by lavs around house
spent 30 mins cleaning and tidying bathroom
carried toiletries, clean laundry, other stuff upstairs
bought god-daughter's b'day present on line

To do:
collars and cuffs DD school shirts
school uniform wash
food prep: haven't decided what yet!
clear bed in boudoir
put away jumpers
sort new academic year calendar (late!)
JL order
dining room table hotspots (big job on one of them)

loads more but that'll do for now

Cagliostro · 30/09/2018 12:16

Yeah I think I’ll keep him :o what is making you hate the rest?💐

Poor DD I hope they can give her something. I said on another thread, if it were men having these issues I’m sure there’d be many more medical breakthroughs and research money and doctors wouldn’t fob them off so much 🙄

Second wash of the day is on. We’ve still got wet towels to dry but they aren’t the priority.

Spreadingcudweed · 30/09/2018 12:32

Oh yes, forgot to add towel wash to list! DD seems to use about five every time she has a bath and then drops them damp on bedroom floor grrrrr

Cag Well it's dh in particular who is driving me nuts tbh along with the rest of male folk's inability to you know actually communicate in an adult fashion, instead of (a) walking out of room (b) barracading themselves behind a desk; not literally! or (c) driving off on supposed errand in middle of argument heated discussion. Dh travels and works such horrendously long hours I only see him for a tiny amount of time per week so I usually try and avoid stressing him with any major issues. But when we do have an issue to sort out he can't cope with confrontation so nothing ever gets resolved. Which results in me getting more frustrated as the message I get back constantly is "I will only engage on my terms" . I dunno. Maybe I am just an ungrateful cow. That is always a possibility!! Grin

Spreadingcudweed · 30/09/2018 12:39

And fuck it. Going to add something enjoyable and creative to to do list this pm. House work can arsing well wait.

Spreadingcudweed · 30/09/2018 12:55

And YY to fobbing off point. Many more allowances would be made in school and the workplace if men menstruated I reckon.

Sorry, I will stop ranting and go and do something productive now.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday afternoon!

Sass I hope your dh is ok; being newly diagnosed with diabetes II must be v challenging be at first.

Honu take care of yourself and hope you can get some respite.

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/09/2018 13:34

Ooooo new knitting needles! Thank you very much SC GrinGrin now all i need is time to sit down and knit. Hmm

I have finished a spinning project - has a deadline so needed to be done. Need to wash and hang it later.

Duvet 1 is in the Dryer
Duvet 2 in the washer.

I am about to epsom salt - physio's new approach has not really helped. muscle spasms woke me up in the middle of the night and are plaguing me at the moment Hmm

Then the plan is laundry and MY bedroom. I should be doing paperwork but I need my room done asap - the dust/dust mite levels are creeping up and allergies are kicking my butt. Sad full on pull everything out spring clean is needed - sucks to be me.

Cagliostro · 30/09/2018 15:24

Ah yes men and communication 🙄🤦‍♀️ Yay for doing something for YOU today.

Been catching up with strictly but iPad died and isn’t charging properly (crappy cable) 😰

Still yuck here, need to put yet another wash on. Sucky timing as due to Fridays louse visitors we had extra washing as it is (bedding and towels).

The day is reeeeally dragging
