September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

Right, I have written down the plan for literacy and RE for the next few weeks.

Playpen arrived. All three of them have played in it 🙄

Now need to work out what I’m doing with maths. Can’t plan geography until I’ve picked up the last book.

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/09/2018 19:54

Urgh I have to do this. I need some books for home edding the boy. it is going to not end well. But thank you for reminding me. I also need to find a tutor for him. English GCSE is going to be an issue Exam paper: extrapolate and explain emotions Aspie: emotions? nope. All the nope.

Right several things done:
Buy ROI water for the fish tank
pick up buckets, jug
get ds to try school uniform trousers on again. they will do til christmas by which point they will be too short
Hospital appointment
book dentist appointments for both me and the boy
prescription request for the boy

to do
label all the uniform

Cagliostro · 04/09/2018 21:50

Ah good luck with it hills I’m not even thinking of GCSEs etc yet. Scary!

ta da continued
✅iPad stuff (still haven’t progressed to more than maths though
✅set a drawing challenge for tomorrow if we get time (the four of us have a sketchbook and we are going to have five minute challenges, tomorrow’s is “draw something we might see at the museum today”. Basically to get the Caglets a bit more confident with just putting pen to paper and also crucially being something that the adults have to do too!)
✅more planning

Cagletini keeps biting me while feeding 😡😰

Cagliostro · 04/09/2018 22:23

Not feeling very organised tonight. Just planning how to get to London tomorro. Feeling a little better now we’ve worked out a route that avoids the tube (I actually love the underground and used to be up in London all the time, but taking a buggy on there is not something I enjoy and I haven’t been in ages)

I’ve left the playpen up so DH can see it. It’s freaking huge!

Bowerbird5 · 05/09/2018 00:28

You will love it then. Mine was huge.

So tired today. Training then GP.
He asked me how I felt. So I told him. Like shit. I love my GP I can be so honest on occasion and he doesn't bat an eyelid.
I can feel the stress building.
I'm off tomorrow. Thank goodness.
Yes pleased I found the iPad too. Now it is charged so I can lie in bed and use it. Thanks

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/09/2018 07:55

I’m glad you told the doctor bower 💐

Glad you got some sleep hills 😴 must’ve needed it!

I’m up and dressed, got an hour before we need to leave. Just gathering clothes and spares for baby. Spare clothes that is not spare babies.

Baby slept a bit longer than she had been the last few weeks (we are considering moving the room around so she is nearer the radiator - she is getting cold I think but seems to wake up from the restrictiveness of the sleeping bag). But I then couldn’t sleep for ages as I felt sick.

foxessocks · 05/09/2018 09:10

Morning everyone. My baby is two today I can't believe it!! He has had a nice time opening his presents. Now I have to find space for everythingGrinand we didn't even go that mad! Off swimming this morning.

MsForestier · 05/09/2018 09:20

Glad you've told the go Bower and happy birthday to babyFoxes.

Cagletini is quite delicious and looks very intrepid.

MsForestier · 05/09/2018 09:20

GP, I mean Bower

Bowerbird5 · 05/09/2018 11:15

😁 yes I knew what you meant.
I told him a few weeks ago before end of term after the week before I couldn't speak to him and knew if I did the floodgates would open and I would be there a while. He had about four in waiting room and was already 20 mins late. It is on going at the moment unfortunately.

🎂 fox cub😄

Don't worry hills thank you for doing it. I swear she has been peeping through my window. Everything on there needs doing. Can skip the undersink as the dishwasher is in front of it at the moment.
I need to start packing up the kitchen soon. Going Christmas shopping with BF I think this afternoon unless she gets loads of phone calls for her business this morning. Meeting for lunch. November will be up in the air with kitchen and December is mad at school so hoping to start early this year.

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/09/2018 11:53

Fly lady is sneaky like that bower Grin

Although I don't think drain fish tank completely down and refill were on her list. Got it done and hoping the plants recover so the fish can go in the tank next week. Water quality is more than a little bit shocking so will be getting a filter jug later. Bloody bore-hole water.

Labelled just enough uniform to shove ds out the door to school. He is taking ownership of the fish tank which is brilliant so has been helping me with that and delighting in telling me I am wrong Hmm

Next on my list is to clear out my car and to book it in for a service. Anti-procrastination day you say, ermmmmm. Does productive procrastination count?

A dress for a wedding in October...I wasn't expecting to buy this but only one left. It fits well need to lose a few pounds stone and it will look better. We had a late lunch my treat as she drove. Some candles for Christmas presents and a family card game for BF which I snuck in.

Just having a cup of tea.

MsForestier · 05/09/2018 17:37
