Flying high in July (or trying to!) part two - the Flylady thread

Continued from first thread. A warm welcome to any newcomers and the naughty corner is stocked for the regulars. This is our thread where we try to follow the Flylady system a bit.

*
Here is the daily summary for Saturday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

We are in zone 4 this week which is the bedroom or boudoir as we like to call it Grin.

However, it’s the weekend so no missions or zone work unless you want to.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in zone 4.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 4
is here.

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

July’s habit is swish and swipe which is a quick daily clean of the bathroom.

beginner babysteps.

Happy flying everyone.

Busy on here this morning!

Welcome to the last day of the month fledglings. Hills, do I have it right that you are doing August? Apologies if not!

YY SC, the chores never end unless there is a time limit. I see what you mean by being better with a shorter time foxes, although can never get it to apply to me!

Cag and Afresh, we moved here over 5 years ago and still have boxes in the garage that need sorting
Blush. They are the awkward ones though, like old coursework that needs to be kept, wedding memories (what to do with them?), that sort of thing. Garage really needs multiple tip runs to get it sorted.

Ive, yes, the DBS delays are so frustrating. Especially as I bet you just want to get started and see how it will all work.

zoo, sounds like a busy day. Jam sounds lovely Bower.

DDs both at an activity this morning so I have just over an hour and a half before I leave to pick them up.

Ta da:-
Quick mini food shop
Picked up a couple of other needed bits in town
Unexpectedly found something DD1 needs for school in the shop at a good price so bought that.
Dropped children’s books decluttered yesterday into charity shop

To do:-
Morning routine
Hand washing - blazing sunshine now after rain this morning so want to get it on the line
Packed lunch - might just bring it with me to meet DDs after activity as they want to go to the park which is near the activity
Get suitcases out for holiday
Then it will be time to pick them up.

Aaaaaarrrrggggg!

Just lost a long post! No time now!

Wing flaps

Cagliostro · 31/07/2018 10:54

Waves!

HA coming at 3 to collect all the crap in the attic!

Cagliostro · 31/07/2018 10:55

Also DH cleared the table and I cleaned it so we can now eat there (and the new "food only at the table - other than movie night" rule can start)

foxessocks · 31/07/2018 11:14

We had boxes for years after we moved. Only sorted them in the end because we needed the room they were in for ds and he was born 3 years after we moved in...what got me is when I finally sorted them it only took me about an hour. I don't know why I put it off so long!!Confused

foxessocks · 31/07/2018 11:15

Ta da
Been to the library
Washing on
Have checked calendar and been reminded I need to get a birthday present for dd friend this week

To do
Finish daily routine
Meal plan for next week
Online shop for next week

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/07/2018 11:49

Ta da:-
All the things on my list. Mainly because it was a realistic list, I had a defined amount of time to do it and was child free! Just waiting to pick up DDs now.

OP posts:
Scoopofchaff · 31/07/2018 12:12

Ta da:
quartered horse and picked out feet (he'd already been fed earlier)
tacked up and exercised
groomed dhorse thoroughly

back at base:
DH kindly ordered wm on-line
brushed the dog
cooked scrambled eggs on toast for everyone
cleared up kitchen
helped to assemble chair
wrote list for others who were ready for expedition
prepped and cooked veg soup
set table
brushed and polished tack, washed bit and stirrups

To do:
clear up lunch

clear up lunch
wash jam jars thoroughly
make plum jam!
make peanut butter cookies for dd
pick blackberries

Loads of outdoor work to do; list as long as my arm! Will start
that another day I think!

Scoopofchaff · 31/07/2018 12:23

Um, I think August is (traditionally) informal thread where we all just chat without links. Iirc, Hills did offer to run, but she may be away for a few days?? Not sure!

CAG I dont know whether it'll make you feel better or worse when I admit to still having unopened boxes in roof after nearly two decades!!BlushBlush

Zoo my sense of smell increased fivefold while pregnant with DD and didn't diminish post pregnancy! But for some reason I can tolerate country smells pig manure whereas bin smells make me retch too!

I've do make sure you see doc, if pain comes back (stern look over pince nez). If it is a hernia, you don't want it to twist!!

Cheery wing flaps to all!

HonkyWonkWoman · 31/07/2018 12:24

Sat in hairdressers now, so have time to post (again) at last.
Everything was going well until I was called on to pick up Dgs10's bike from the repair shop at 11, then realised hairdressers at same time.
Anyhow managed it and only few mins late to hairdressers, so sat here looking "lovely" in my foils!😂

Ta da's

Swish and swipe
Tidy Boudoir

Drop bike at Dd (no-one in as Dd and Dgd out riding and Dgs10 on sleepover.I
Rush to hairdressers
Sit with ☕
Bye for now!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/07/2018 12:33

Oh that’s fine SC, to be honest I was just double checking that I wouldn’t end up still running it Grin. V happy for an informal thread or whatever people want to do. Do I start a new one then just so we have one to post on?

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/07/2018 12:34

Or stay on his one but I won’t put links on?

Scoopofchaff · 31/07/2018 14:19

Quick "siesta" post lunch and during hottest part of day... .

Yeah Toostressy don't worry, you have more than done your duty this month! [medal] Smile Tbh, as no links, no one needs to run it "officially", once set up! Think a new August thread less confusing if you don't mind organising it? I am happy to do so tonight if you are busy!

That is all assuming everyone is ok with "no links" thread during August? Speak up soon-ish please if not!

Great list Zoo! Self defense class sounds great! I've been meaning to enrol DD in one for ages!

Well done re: trainers Honky and enjoy the pampering!

Great you can now eat a table CAG!

Congrats on getting through your entire list earlier Toostressy!

IVEgotthePOWER · 31/07/2018 14:51

I dont look at the links anyway 🤣

IVEgotthePOWER · 31/07/2018 14:53

cag must be very hungry to eat a table sc 🍴

Cagliostro · 31/07/2018 14:55

Look how much crap they left in our attic!!!

Flying high in July (or trying to!) part two - the Flylady thread
Scoopofchaff · 31/07/2018 15:07

Grin Grin I've!

Wow Cag! Hope you are allowed to use that space now!

Cagliostro · 31/07/2018 15:15

Nope! It's actually part of the tenancy agreement not to use the attic Hmm which is why we were somewhat annoyed about it being full of crap as I specifically asked when we were told the rule, "so does that mean it's empty" and was reassured it was! But clearly the rule had been broken and they hadn't checked.

I'm not bothered by the rule though, being on such a decluttering kick I'm determined to get to the stage where we don't need one. We managed to empty ours long before moving, and really now the only thing we would store in this one if we could is the Xmas decorations as we only need them one month per year. But I figure for everything else, if we would be happy leaving it in the attic, do we actually really need it?

Scoopofchaff · 31/07/2018 15:22

Sounds as if you have the decluttering well under control Cag; good on you!! Wierd that you can't use the space as it's not as if anyone else can; but maybe it's about fire regs/ventilation/access or some'at? And that's a very good point - WHY keep something in attic if it is never used? You might have just inspired me to return to wreck1 and junk the whole lot as we haven't used it up to now!!

IVEgotthePOWER · 31/07/2018 15:46

cag has soooo got the decluttering thing bang on ATM!

Ta da

2 x washer on
2 x washing on line
2 x bin empty
Recycling out
Hall swept and mopped
Living room 2 swept and mopped
Kitchen swept and 1/2 mopped
All pots washed
4xdc socks and underwear drawers decluttered
Highchair turned into booster
Located missing iron in name labels
Made important phonecall
All dining chairs and table cleaned
Utility swept
Dryer wiped over

BOOM 🔥

foxessocks · 31/07/2018 16:16

I totally agree and same goes to my shed and my garage - they become a dumping ground and there's not a lot we actually use in them!!

Talking of which...

Ta da
Decluttered garden toys!! Threw away quite a few balls and some other random junk. Boxed the other toys up in two plastic boxes and put in the shed. Then put ride on toys, wheelbarrows etc in shed. Problem is as shed has a lot of stuff of dh's in it is still a total mess until I can convince him to have a sort out Hmm but at least the toys are a bit more organised!

Also ta da
Ordered dd uniform from school, the compulsory stuff
Decluttered bath toys

Just the paints to declutter now and then I think the toy category is done. Although I should probably check the attic and the garage now I think of it...!! Oh and under the bed. Sob. One minute I feel like I'm making good progress then I feel like I am never going to be decluttered at all.

Bowerbird5 · 31/07/2018 17:12

Hi had a whole post about the goings on here only to lose it. IPad had run out of charge. I am an idiot as I could have folded self in half and connected to extension or GOT OUT of bed! DD at boyfriends so had a lie in.

The jam is lovely . Will also be making plum but they aren't ready yet. Bestie has some of my black currants and I have some of her plums. I still have some from two years ago. Plum and ginger we made then. Yum. Used to make pick your own strawberry and rasp but we haven't got the manpower( children) now for picking or indeed eating ( the jam we haven't eaten them honest) so don't make it now. DD might bring some squashed ones from work to make one or two jars. I made marmalade too this year so I am running out of space to keep it. I should rigorously declutter cupboard in dining room as I bought it for that but it was too big to go on wall. Shame. Just sit on floor in the way.

I'm still on house can't even think about sheds. I think I will cry if I do.
I need to have a bit of a tidy in here.
Ta Das
Reorganised plant pots at front and swept both paths. Wish next door would weed, tidy their front. I've done it once or twice but no more. Old neighbour and I used to sort of take it in turns. They have turns ...all mine. So I stopped. They put weed killer, on then leave dead plants.
Brushed around doors. Spider webs, sorry spiders.
Fed cat & hen. Hen confined to barracks as she has been AWOL again. Don't know how she is doing it. Neighbour came to inform me. At least she comes when she is called. Better than DH!

Vacuumed downstairs.
Washed all plant pots on window sill. And sill. Wiped around and made shiny efforts.
S&S bathroom and redid shower door.
Declutter one bag of school crap but had to put a lot back in as I am back to spelling and phonics again so might need it. Find out last week of hols when going in for meetings. Wish I knew now. At least sorted into a Phonics bag now so anything else can be bunged in there until I find out which phase I am doing.
Sitting room all done except under sofa and pile of mags which I keep reading instead of chucking. Still when all read can chuck.

Need to wash kitchen floor, sort washing and take to DS2's. Have shower as going to see GP. Will be fun I was in bit of mess last time I saw him so think he may say something tonight. I hardly spoke as flood gates were ready to go and he had several waiting as running late. Will get him to check hip, maybe blood pressure though I think it will be fine now I'm not at school in stress mess.

Everyone seems very busy and I do think we are cracking this more now😁 Cags and foxes and zoo have my admiration. Do you think the weather has made us all feel better? I feel much better this week. Still have loads to do. Perhaps I should invite folk around so I getting cracking more.

See you later, might grab take away on way home. Better make my bed😱 I've been downstairs all day. I left it to air. I don't like making it straight away like Flylady does.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/07/2018 17:36

Hope it goes ok at GP Bower. Great decluttering everyone Smile. Self defence class sounds good zoo.

I can set up a new thread no problem, as you say SC, unless anyone jumps in desperately wanting to do it before tonight. I’ll just copy most of my OP for July and put August’s habit in and the fact that it is just a chatty thread.

I normally do links and catch up on the thread around 8/8:30 pm when I am lying on the floor reading MN when I should be doing an evening routine waiting for a child to go to sleep so I’ll create the new thread here and put a link on.
