Flying high in July (or trying to!) part two - the Flylady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 27/07/2018 21:51

Continued from first thread. A warm welcome to any newcomers and the naughty corner is stocked for the regulars. This is our thread where we try to follow the Flylady system a bit.

*
Here is the daily summary for Saturday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

We are in zone 4 this week which is the bedroom or boudoir as we like to call it Grin.

However, it’s the weekend so no missions or zone work unless you want to.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in zone 4.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 4
is here.

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

July’s habit is swish and swipe which is a quick daily clean of the bathroom.

beginner babysteps.

Happy flying everyone.

I went out. I got home. THEN it pissed it down, thunder lightening and all that jazz ⚡☔😁

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/07/2018 15:25

Great timing I've
thanks stressyGrin

I've had lunch, washed up and slope to bed for an hour nap as I've only been sleeping around 3hours last four days due to heat
Perked up a bit I'm.now going to go and wash some floors and do some more decluttering...

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/07/2018 17:06

Tada
choke to death clear top D's wardrobe
Carrier bag for charity shop
Located telescope that's been MIA 8months
Rejig some crates, temp moving two of Playmobil under his bed

This means they can now access without help campervan/holiday home crate and the playground/park crate

If they lift his crate stuff toys(yes a crate and decluttering was met with tears)they can access huge crate pirates and under that crate Indiana Jones playsets

This means for first time in a very long time they can just get stuff out and play..

Rearrange some books
Washed floor

I came down to start kitchen and heard laughter from dd2 and D's interacting
Sneak up and I can see three backs and glimpse huge pink crate.they have pulled out campervan/holiday home and are all PLAYING TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dd2 phone has been discarded on her bed

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/07/2018 17:10

Proving if we had less crap they could actually get at stuff and play rather than moan/want devices all the time.i feel awfully guilty, but at same time inspired keep plugging away.plan is clear what I know can go,make what's left accessable and then review any unused stuff at intervals.once I've finished just clearing the crap I can see what storage will be needed to make getting at everything easy(and easy to find where to put it back afterwards)

Glaringly obvious really, yet has never happened here before as I drown in toys and belongings

gets overwhelmed at possibilities and heads of to recalibrate with mundane floor washing tasks

Bowerbird5 · 28/07/2018 19:28

Love Pinterest I get lost in it for minutes hours.

foxes wistful moment lovely.
Will come back needs charging. Been out not much flying now feel like doing it but DD wants her tea. Time is not my own any more!😁

Lovely about your DC playing together Zoo!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 28/07/2018 22:08

Oh no SC Sad.

How lovely that your DC played with the decluttered toys zoo.

Well DD2 has just wet the bed so she is now in with DH and I will have to strip the bed etc. Agh when does this parenting lark become easy? Links next.

Toostressy hate to tell you ...it doesn't.😳

SC I bet you want to bang their heads together. I'd be annoyed too. How inconsiderate.

zoo a rare moment.😄

Well I can have a lie in today only I have just woken. Pain in right hip which has been bothering me at night for a couple of weeks.

Red sky in the morning... Gorgeous sky.

Hoping to do a bit of de cluttering today.

Wing flaps to everyone.

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/07/2018 06:27

Hope your hip isn't to troublesome bower
Stressy like bower said,I doesn't.it constant morphs into different kinds of challenges to keep you on your toesFlowers
SC you weren't be unreasonable.agree with bower (again) and heads should be banged together.id have snap at ungrateful bugger after try prep hastily for arrival in that heat feeling ill and your brother is an arse for step back be man, sensing trouble and practising classic avoidance in case seen as taking sides.except effectively he has taken a side and it's not yours I would be raging.(I don't mean to upset you or speak out of turn)eat the naice cheese, drink the wine and let them marinade in their own selfishnessFlowers
It's positively dim this morning as I lay here in bed.feels weird not see sun's rays streaming thru!!

To do
Couple decluttering tasks
Wash zoolets hair(s) and make sure smart for church as archdeacon visit (iron clothes etc)check what the blazes dd2 is opting to wear.we has words about rip knees jeans not be ok couple weeks running and as was last minute I made her wear school trousers which didn't improve her temperament
Online banking
Write meal plan and shop list

I have until 8am to do this then be an hour and half sorting 2heads near waist length hair into clean, dry, unbirds nests!!

Bbl

Scoopofchaff · 29/07/2018 07:07

Good luck with speed hair-dressing Zoo!

Hope hip pain does not persist Bower

Thank you both; I am genuinely grateful to be told IANBU because I am doubting myself tbh. Didnt sleep a wink all night. I have asked post to be removed because in my frustration I over-shared somewhat Blush. I wasn't looking for gratitude, just could have done without snidey undercurrents when everyone was trying their best. Zoo to be fair to dB, there are other mitigating circs/complications. He is always straight down the line and I have no issue with him. But, as ever, ta v muchly for support! Smile.

Sun is streaming through the windows here which need cleaning.

Plum picking (and possibly jam-making and crumble prepping and freezing) is on the agenda today.

Also, some sort of miracle has occurred, as DD has already been up for over an hour soaping a saddle Shock Grin..

Off to walk the furry!

Scoopofchaff · 29/07/2018 07:12

Oh yes, Toostressy, sorry, meant to say, so far, emotionally speaking, it hasn't got any better (in fact rather the reverse Confused) but for me physically/practically things started improving a lot aged 8 yrs, then again at 13 yrs (no more school runs which is hugely liberating) . But much much easier anyway with only one DC so probably not a fair assessment!

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/07/2018 07:42

Hope you ok SC
Plum jam?I've never had that.love a good plum crumble and Delia does a lovely plum and cinnamon slice recipe-- Ross between pastry and flapjack with cinnamon tossed plums in middle

Tada
Cats fed
Empty bins
Littertray
Wash on
2 BRC desposed of(arf at phone try change desposed to despised-actually close swap for onceGrin)
Internet banking
Wash in drier(pouring down and windy/cool)
More on
DS up so might do his hair next.
Thinking a porridge breakfast morning as cold and dreary!!

WhoKnowsWereTheTimeG0es · 29/07/2018 07:53

Found you! I'm having trouble keeping up with the thread its so chatty, its lovely to see though as there was a really quiet spell a couple of years ago last time I was in charge when I thought it might fizzle out.

SC grrr at being messed about so much, not surprised you are angry. I agree about things being so much easier practically as you move into the teen years, this is the first summer for us of not needing to make incredibly complicated childcare arrangements (DCs are going to some clubs but only because they want to rather than for childcare and in some cases are getting themselves there and back too, its incredibly liberating).

Today it is cool and pouring with rain, hooray! My allotment has been really struggling in the heat. It felt positively autumnal last night, cosy rather than sweltering, what a nice change. Although I do need to go for a run, might get very wet. Other than that I am planning to help DD with her pit bedroom and do some ironing.

IVEgotthePOWER · 29/07/2018 08:04

It is pouring down. I have to go out at 930 Sad

Honestly dunno how anyone copes having people come to visit and stay over. I dont do that shit. People may visit for a (prearranged) cup of tea, and that is all. I dislike other people in my space.

foxessocks · 29/07/2018 08:24

sc that sounds so frustrating, I'd be annoyed too , hope they come to their senses and apologise. Like ive we don't really have overnight visitors because our family live near and those that don't tend to stay with my parents as their house is bigger and I don't know how you do all the hosting and remain upbeat!!! I would get properly stressed out so hats off to you.

We are having a child free relaxed morning , coffee in bed , but have to go and pick the dc up very soon from mil as we are off to a trampoline park this morning!

Must decide what's for dinner before we go.

Lovely and cool here too!

HonkyWonkWoman · 29/07/2018 09:22

Families eh! Don't give it another thought sc, you were well within your rights to be annoyed and frustrated at the "not ideal" comment, after it had already been agreed and after poor Dh running around, getting it ready on his precious rest time.Flowers

Well folks, it is rainy and cloudy and windy and Buffydog has been a walk and she was so happy. I was laughing as she kept lifting her little face to the sky and smiling and doing a little skip (as much as she can do on her 14 year old, stiff, legs).

It's so cool that I can do a bit of boudoir decluttering today.

Ta da's
Fed 🐱 and 🐕
Walk Buffy
Wash done, second wash on
Dryer going.
Quick wipe over kitchen
Sweep/mop floor
Swish and swipe.
Sit with Brew while on Mn.

To do
Clear the Chair of Doom in Boudoir (yes, it's back)Grin
Go through Chest of drawers, be ruthless in my recycling of tops/jumpers etc.
Clear dressing table top, dust and replace all beautifying products.
Maybe!!!! De-clutter the dressing table drawer where all the out of favour makeup, creams, jumper debobbler, sun glasses, passports, hair clips etc.etc. gets dumped. Aaaaaarrrrggghh!
That might be enough!
I've just put myself off!

Wing flaps to all...........

Scoopofchaff · 29/07/2018 09:28

Thanks again for kind words everybody Flowers. Much appreciated. To be fair, I was the one messing them around as initially they (understandably) expected to stay with us but can't help physical limits on beds etc, esp when we already have one visitor currently staying and when one more asks to come! So I agreed arrangements less than ideal and felt really badly about it. Just really didn't need it pointing out again!

It must be said though definitely do finding hosting much more stressful nowadays!Thank for putting up with my ranting; it means dh has a less stressful time of it with me muttering on! Grin

Anyway, onwards ...Smile

Foxesenjoy your child free morning!

Whoknows yes impressively fledglings on two threads a month currently; quiet patches related to peaks and troughs of term time rather than leadership though I think Smile. Deffo had v quiet patches when I have been boring everyone leading!

Delia recipe sounds yummy Zoo!

Keep dry I've!

Hearty rural wing flaps to everyone else!

Scoopofchaff · 29/07/2018 09:31

Thanks Honky Chairs of doom have a habit of returning don't threy; definitely in my boudoir anyway! That's so funny about Buffydog bless him! Our furry was in raptures the other day about catching a baby mole. Bit it's head clean off before I could stop him (eugh).

Scoopofchaff · 29/07/2018 09:39

Sorry Who knows that came out so wrong below!

I didn't mean my leadership couldn't possibly cause troughs... very likely it does ...meant deffo not related to your leadership.

Um, I shall stop blustering on now ... and polish my size 13s!!

Scoopofchaff · 29/07/2018 12:26

Ta da: one tray of plums picked via teetering ladder in swirling wind! Unfortunately, dog has been stung by a wasp.

HonkyWonkWoman · 29/07/2018 13:00

Oh no! Poor dog! Was he stung on his nose?
Good job it wasn't you though!
Love plum jam and plum crumble! Mmmmmmm!
Can I come for tea sc? Ha!Grin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/07/2018 13:08

Hope dog ok SC? Hope you had a nice morning foxes and that you enjoy the trampoline park. I also find it hard to keep up with the thread at times, especially when learning Wh0Kn0ws! Grin at chair of doom Honky. Ive, I like visitors (unpopular view on MN I know!) as long as they are not my parents!! Good luck with hair zoo and with decluttering Bower. Big wing flaps to everyone else.

Much cooler and it’s raining today which is great tbh. DH not feeling well, thinks he is coming down with a cold. So I have taken the kids out to soft play and we will have lunch here. He is going to sort out tea for us later.

Have attempted to be firm so have told DDs we are having soft play and lunch here which is a treat so no extra toys / sweets etc.

OP posts:
foxessocks · 29/07/2018 13:15

I like certain visitors but it depends who!!! I like visitors who don't make me feel the need to clean and tidy Grin

Ta da
Have taken pictures of all the good quality toys we are getting rid of and asked dd old nursery school if they would want any. Then after that I'll go through the rest and bag them up for charity shop. Don't want to hang on to anything for long or it'll end up back in the dc rooms!!

My bedroom is currently full of stuff in bags for charity shops, friends, etc it is stressing me out as the constant decluttering has caused more mess really. I just want it all gone!

To do
Daily routine
Declutter behind shelves in living room, under sofas etc where any last toys may be lurking

Not going to do garden toys today as it's quite drizzly outside still which I'm not complaining about! Might move onto paperwork later.
