Anyone not have a dishwasher?

Just wondering how on earth can you keep a sink shiny without a dishwasher? I don't have room for one but unfortunately and I can't even remember a time when my sink and/or drainer weren't piled high with dirty/dryingg dishes. Can't see how it's possible unless you spend nearly all of your day surgically attached to either the sink or a tea towel!!!

i don't have one, we too don;t have a space for one.
i would love to have one if only for the ease with which you can give the impression of having a tidy kitchen in a jiffy!!

Nbg · 06/05/2007 17:34

What about one of those work top dishwashers?

We didnt have one till last summer when we moved to this house and had the space for it.
I remember the messy sinks well!

ShowOfHands · 06/05/2007 17:36

I don't have a dishwasher, don't want one either.

DH does all the washing up!

Devonshire · 06/05/2007 17:37

pointydog · 06/05/2007 17:38

I don't have one.

I'm not fully understanding your shiny sink concern, though.

benandalex · 06/05/2007 17:40

i dont have one either just no room

KTeePee · 06/05/2007 17:52

Haven't always had a dishwasher (no room in last house) but when we had a new kitchen done recently, being without my dishwasher was the worst bit, ime. I coped fine without a cooker or washing machine but really missed the dishwasher - didn't have a sink either which didn't help I suppose (nor did the 20 odd cups left behind by the builders each day!)

munz · 06/05/2007 17:54

me no room - well I have one it's in the shed without plumbing hoping our next house has the plumbing/room

fryalot · 06/05/2007 17:55

pointydog · 06/05/2007 18:00

I've stumbled onto a good housekeeping thread, that's what's happened.

mamazon · 06/05/2007 18:01

i used to have one but never used it. by the time i had scraped all teh dishes off it was easier (and cheaper) to just finish the job myself.

In the last three houses I did then didnt & now have one again depending on space my whole house is a lot tidier for having a dishwasher because it was the job I hated I put off doing everything knowing I would have to do it (lazy cow emotion)

I am about to buy a new house main concern is dishwasher space sad person I am

NuttyMuffins · 06/05/2007 18:05

I don't have one, I had to choose between a tumble dryer and a dishwasher when we moved in here and I chose tumble dryer.

pedro · 06/05/2007 18:06

a wise choice imo

Devonshire · 06/05/2007 18:07

nuttymuffins - i don't get tumble driers. i put my washing on the line outside in spring/summer and on the radiators in autumn/winter.
(oh, if you have no garden or ch, then i can see the point of them!)

pedro · 06/05/2007 18:08

NO NO NO to radiators
