Anyone not have a dishwasher?

Just wondering how on earth can you keep a sink shiny without a dishwasher? I don't have room for one but unfortunately and I can't even remember a time when my sink and/or drainer weren't piled high with dirty/dryingg dishes. Can't see how it's possible unless you spend nearly all of your day surgically attached to either the sink or a tea towel!!!

pedro - i agree with the doss house look! my rule is no underwear and suchlike on the downstairs rads - only items i would not be embarrassed to be observed! (that limits it to pillowcases, teatowels etc! )

Yep they do minimise ironing, and I also hate washing on the radiators, the kids constantly knock it off and it takes ages to dry anyway.

I love our tumble dryer too.

Those of you with no room, get rid of 2 kitchen units and install dishwasher and tumble dryers immeadiatly!

NuttyMuffins · 06/05/2007 18:19

WRT the tabletop ones, how you use them, I mean do they need to be nedxt to a sink or something ?? Where does the water go ?

compo · 06/05/2007 18:23

we haven't got one.
no room for one at the moment.
I find it's just as quick washing up as it is loading and emptying one (my mum / sister / everyone i know has one)

DrNortherner · 06/05/2007 18:29

We don't have one.

I do most of the washing up. No problem really.

pointydog · 06/05/2007 18:30

I agree with compo. Takes no time to wash up. Exvcept after very big many-panned meal

Flamesparrow · 06/05/2007 18:30

Don't have one, desperately want one but nowhere to plumb it in.

maisym · 06/05/2007 18:30

have a dishwasher but no tumble drier - just can't see the point of wasting electricty to dry things.

DrNortherner · 06/05/2007 18:31

Tis better for environemnt NOT to have one.

If you have one you are lazy slattern

Just eat beans and toast and easy stuff

maisym · 06/05/2007 18:35

they use less water though than washing up by hand - but there's still the manufacturing, transport cost & electricity

compo · 06/05/2007 18:35

I wash up as I go though... unlike dh who leaves everything (inc. breakfast things) until the evening to do it all at once

Wotzsaname · 06/05/2007 18:36

Have one but rarely use it. can't see the point most of the time, it doesn't bother me washing up and I never put my saucepans in it.
You are not missing out...

pointydog · 06/05/2007 18:36

I'm not convinced they use less water. Who has said so?

pedro · 06/05/2007 18:36

ye si hear that

maisym · 06/05/2007 18:37

read it some where. I wash up & rinse as I go - so must use lots of water
