Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 16/12/2017 17:52

Hello all, well done for getting through that terrible drive Hills.

Well we have had a nice day with friends but that means no flying or no Christmas prep. In fact the Christmas prep has been added to as they gave us presents and we didn’t have any for them Xmas Blush. So a Christmas wife work fail and I need to get presents and post them next week. I sympathise with the wife work woes too. I don’t even mind doing much of it as I am very part time at work and the girls are in school now but I wish I was not quite as shit at it Xmas Sad.

Have resolved yet again to make more effort to organise the house. People we saw today work far more than me, have younger children and yet their house is tidy . How?????? It has got to be the decluttering. Am getting back on it from tomorrow.

Tonight, however, I have my work Christmas do. I know it is so ungrateful to whinge about a night out but I really don’t want to go. Am enjoying the rest of sitting down on the bus in but otherwise it is cold, I have a coat that I will now have to check in as I was too cold without the coat, it will be very loud, will cost lots of money and the boss is going so can’t relax anyway. Ugh.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 16/12/2017 17:52

Xpost, sorry to hear your friend is in trouble zoo.

HillsBesideTheSea · 16/12/2017 18:33

Sorry your friend is in trouble. The system for mental health support is woeful. I hope they can manage to find her and support her properly zoo

I had the house completely and utterly to myself today, have I had a productive day? have I fuck. I slept til lunch and I have stayed in bed vegging. WIll have to get up and get petrol in a bit as I have a money off voucher that expires tonight and a half empty tank which will not hurt being topped up for tomo's 5hr round trip fingers crossed that one is better than friday's

Food prep is nothing because that bit we are really coordinated and have down to a tee. It is all the clear up from batches of building work/deep decluttering stuff that is the issue. By middle of next week it will all be calm and tidy here (although I will probably be still faffing about trying to find the address book)

That said I have decided to have guilt free down time (exception being slow cook the ham ready for the 25th and to do a school uniform wash because ds still has a week of school left) until tomo when I head out for that drive. I have the house to myself during the day on Monday so I am hoping that with a proper few days of rest I will be re-energised and will fly through the bits that are left (which is realistic on a productive day but not a burn out day)

Hang in there SC you will get it sorted and it will be appreciated even if it does not feel like it atm.

Hope your night out is not as bad as you fear Stressy

Swept living room 1

Scrubbed highchair
Washed half pots

Amazing what you can do when you actually GET UP

Sludgecolours · 16/12/2017 23:31

Zoo I'm so glad your friend has been found. But as Hill mentions, it is awful for her and her family that it has to get to that stage before anything is done (if something is being done now). Must be so worrying for you too x

Thanks for kind words everyone about wife work but sorry to hear it is the same in many fledgling households. If it weren't for dd I would deliberately let it all drift a bit this year and see what happens ... but I don't because I have a pretty good idea of the what actually would happen ifyswim ie not a lot.

Hope you survive the works night out Toostressy and that it is not as grim as you feared x

Good luck with builder detritus decluttering Hills (builder detritus is the pits).

Hills/Zoo and everyone else in fact - your posts have made me feel a lot better about my lack of progress and my lack of organisation ... I just didn't have the energy to do much today despite my best intentions ... and one imagines everyone else in gleaming kitchens making mince pies, or wrapping presents in show home style sitting rooms. It is a relief to hear that is not always the case.

After all it is more important to help a friend in need, or rest up for challenging drive to fetch your child, or sit on sofa for a while so you have the energy to do something later and have some energy left for your children tomorrow.

Speaking of which, well done re: list Afreshstart and ta for Wine.

Cheers everyone!

Tomorrow is another day and all of that... .

Cagliostro · 16/12/2017 23:43

Well we have wrapped presents tonight but definitely not in a show home! And they are all going back up to the messy boudoir where they will hopefully not get lost (we don't put them under the tree until Christmas eve, even non Santa gifts).

I've had to let go even further this year of any ideals. Standards slipping but I don't suppose the Caglets will notice or care. It is stressing me out this year that there is more of a disparity between their gifts though. DS has several wow type toys but DD1 is at that awkward in between age.

Made it to town and stockings are finished anyway so that's something.

Afreshturkeyplease · 17/12/2017 09:34

This year ds1 and 2 have both had an expensive but not large in size main present. Dd has had no single item over 40 quid. She has about 3 times as many presents as they do.

No pointy stick needed here either Smile

Well I haven't been on because no internet again but maybe a good thing.Went off singing at supermarket yesterday morning after an uneventful night out.I had to drive and we ended up leaving at 11. So I was up and about next morning. We had a coffee after to warm up and then I did some shopping.More than intended but I haven't been there for ages and nabbed a few bargains. So I think I just have Christmas Day shopping to do now.

So TA DAHS

Shopping
Baking
Set fire and cleaned most of sitting room(not under the sofa, yet)
Put some stuff away.
Wrapped several presents.
Wrote 20 cards( not making any I bought these in Dobbies 50% off sale).
Took cards to church this morning and have about 5 more to write, oops.
Tidied all card making basket and chucked a few bits :) decluttered so it all fits in and I put it away.
Washing on and two loads sorted to wash tomorrow.
Prepared area for tree. The one I wanted sold out but there is one 50 miles away would I be that stupid.MMM we always have areal tree and this one looks very real from a metre or less away. Half price as well. It could be a nice drive or shall i just get a real one?
Dishwasher on. Mini roast in oven today.
Vacuum all downstairs yesterday.
Cleaned bathroom with Winter Zoflora mmmm.Lovely.
Cleared half of kitchen table.

This was nearly all yesterday. I was up till midnight. Feel very chuffed with myself and motivated to carry on.
Been to church this morning and have Carol service at 6pm so going to have lunch and write missing cards to dish out tonight. Other cards are ready for posting tomorrow. I'm never this organised. Need two more for sons 2,3.Then done with cards.all family pressies wrapped. Not hard as two has had his and three hasn't got anything except amug so far. DD are wrapped, she is easy.Might get 1 and 2 car valeting stuff as a small oh no need to buy Extra person a present too. Might be alcohol. I bought scarf last time and socks (I know) time before. He has been coming for six years but not last year or year before as he went back to Europe. The other extra is now back in the bosom of his family so wont be coming to us.

Well a big, big wing flap to Callme thank you for that recipe.I decided to make mums cake yesterday but had lots of stuff left over even more when I opened another bag. I made it too. I did have rum hidden in the cupboard. It smelt gorgeous. I didn't think I would like the chesnut but I knew I had acan in the cupboard for a fancy dessert I didn't get around to making in 2016 or possibly 2015. It was acouple of months out of Best before but it was fine. It was aFrench one so was yummy. I now have 1/2 can left and some fruit so thinking if I buy a bit more peel and more eggs(chicken off lay) I could make another to go in Son 1's hamper.Grin first no cake then three [fshocked]
So thank you, thank you Callme

Hoping all the bugs go and stay away. Love no.4 on your list Turkey!
I was thinking I might just go around with washing basket collecting that from every room at least it would look tidy if -unwanted- unexpected visitors arrive. Then would have to spend lots of time sorting through to put away. At the moment I am perusing for said shite when I am visiting that room.
Have to go can smell dinner.
My pamper is going to be soak hands in salty stuff from Harrogate and dry then lovely handcream. My hands feel like sandpaper.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/12/2017 14:28

Callmecordelia · 17/12/2017 15:54

I'm pleased it went well Bower. I'm just back from Oxford and I gave mine to my cousin who I was visiting. I made another for us, so I am really happy it was good!

No flying - it is a nearly three hour drive each way and I'm pretty tired. DS doesn't like sleeping in unfamiliar places, so he ended up on the sofa with me, wriggling like mad, and giving me big sloppy kisses. I'd have loved it if I hadn't got the drive home. DH is home from work in an hour and a half. Looking forward to flopping.

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/12/2017 16:11

Well done on the drive callme
