Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

-7 here this morning. Brrrr

Callmecordelia · 12/12/2017 07:04

I haven't dared look at the weather forecast. Parents are arriving late morning for a quick lunch, and then we will have to queue up for DD's Nativity, outside, for goodness knows how long. Shock.

My friend loved the cake I gave her yesterday, wrapped up in plastic bags so it didn't get soggy. I was really pleased.

Afresh it sounds like you are doing brilliantly to me. How is DS this morning?

Cag well done on the dinner. That's my fallback too. I fed mine chicken, sundried tomato and basil sausages last night. As it was in sausage format, they ate it! They were nice actually, and good for a quick tea.

To do
Wash kitchen floor (if this gets done before parents arrive I'll be amazed)
Dust
Washing
Put away washing from yesterday
Actually finish writing the Christmas cards, rather than just talk about it.
Send present to friend in Scotland.

Afreshturkeyplease · 12/12/2017 07:12

Ty callme. Ds seeming bit better this morning fingers crossed. First day i havent had give meds on waking. He woke last night a few times before 12 but then slept til 6ish this morning.

Did manage to make slight dent in mess before bed last night. Washed half pots, cleaned table high chair and worktops. Swept kitchen. Tidyed toys in living room.

Desperately need get a grip on washing so ill do that now.

foxessocks · 12/12/2017 07:32

It's too cold to get out of bed! Ds was up at 5.30 but managed to get him back down. Dd woke at 7 but I managed to convince her it was still night time (love dark mornings!). Can hear her stirring again now through.

I feel a bit queasy hopefully just because I've been awake so long and all I've had is coffee. Don't want anymore illnesses!

So cold and I don't think I've got a single jumper clean and dry Hmm

Hope you don't have to wait outside too long today callme brrr

Callmecordelia · 12/12/2017 08:33

It's not raining or snowing! This probably means parents who are really keen to sit at the front will queue even earlier....

Two snowy days and the sky is full today too though it’s all mostly melted here in Brussels. I have some sick bug or maybe food poisoning so no flying today.

Just wanted to post a tada from yesterday. There is NO dirty washing in the washing baskets. None in the washing machine either! Some is on the clothes horse and there’s a bit in the ironing basket but I think this is the first time this has ever happened! Helps that I’m home alone though of course. I also wrote my Christmas cards, though there are very few of them these days (thank you Facebook and emails) but my plans to post them today have been scuppered. Ds2 was ill last week and ds1 and dd are ill this week. There’s a lot of it around! Hope everyone is doing ok.

foxessocks · 12/12/2017 14:41

Put away decorations box
Put away sewing stuff - I'm not getting round to finishing off the skirt. Sad

I didn't wash the kitchen floor, or finish the cards but I did quite well on other stuff.

DD's Nativity went really well, she sang her solo and did beautifully.

Bowerbird5 · 12/12/2017 22:35

Ahh bless her. Well done I wouldn't be that brave.

Call me you have just given me an idea. DD is going to an interview so I will have to wait around for about two hours. There is a cafe a few miles away so I could take mug cards and write them all. DH has gone back today and DD is going after interview so I will have the house back and hopefully sort it out before Christmas.

Great Ta Das from some.😄

Aaaaargh what a fucking shit afternoon

So after a crap night I managed to drag myself to the doctor's for our six week check (all fine), but by the time we all got home I was so sleepy and capable of nothing but a nap. But it was one of those pointless naps where you know you can't sleep for long so not very restorative. When I had to get up ready for tap class I wanted to cry Xmas Blush and then DD said she couldn't find her tap shoes! So we turned the living room (already a mess) upside down with no luck. Manage to still get to tap with baby in sling thankfully. Then on the way home I realize that we have left the changing bag (which DS was carrying as we didn't have the buggy) on the bus. Xmas Sad Pathetic I know but I was actually really upset. DS actually showed some empathy though so that is a plus in a way. I phoned the bus company straight away and hopefully they will have caught it - nothing valuable in there but I love the bag. And it just seemed like one more crap thing today. Ugh. Baby finally asleep so I'm off to bed in a huff

Bowerbird5 · 13/12/2017 07:00

Ooh Cags what a shame. Not pathetic at all.I hope you get the bag back. I can't believe Caglitini is six weeks already. Has you DD got a bag for her tap shoes? I bought my DD one as part of her Christmas once and found it was much easier to find. Ballet, tap and leotard all fitted in.

Think I might get up soon and have early start to day off as have lots to do and need to ferry DD to interview and then station as she has to go home today because work tomorrow. Journey up was longer because of weather- 6 1/2 hrs. This interview could be life changing for her and mean she will move back north after 8 years done South( Uni) and stayed down there but rent is sky high and they can't afford to live there anymore. They could buy a house up here and still have change from mortgage. Colder weather though, I think she will miss the summers down there. Lots of her friends moving away so an end to that part of her life. A bit sad really.
We also enjoyed visiting and we were able to stay with her last time because previously she was in student housing so we could only stop one night and hotel the rest (2/3 nights) or carry on to Devon or Cornwall to holiday cottage. Went to places I probably would never have got DH to go to while she was there. Friday could mean big, big changes...career, home, relationship etc scary!

Well off to start as house a mess and DD needs some help preparing her things, ironing etc they look really beautiful and well presented just need ironed. Going to sort out cards to take and address book while I wait as interview is at least 2 hrs long and I can go to large shop nearby and sit in cafe with free cup of tea( vouchers) and get them finished, post on way to station. Can also look for Christmas presents there😃

Callmecordelia · 13/12/2017 07:35

Bower, that actually sounds like a really nice peaceful day!

Sorry things are tough Cag. It's so hard with a new baby, everything that previously worked just doesn't any more.

I need to wake DD up to go to school. She's so tired poor thing. I hope she doesn't get homework this week. I'd prefer it if she got less homework full stop, but that's another rant.

foxessocks · 13/12/2017 07:57

Morning all. cag that's rubbish and I'd be upset too hope you get the bag back.

To do
Wipe down door handles and light switches
Daily routine
Write Christmas cards - major procrastination going on with those!!
Wrap dh presents as he is working away (get some wrapping paper!)
Declutter one other room

Afreshturkeyplease · 13/12/2017 07:58

cag was it the bag to match your pram? That would annoy me. Probably to the extent id buy a new one. They are £40 online.

Bowerbird5 · 13/12/2017 08:01

Yes, 😄 not as manic at work! No breaks again yesterday spent entire day with kids of various ages but did eat my lunch while trying to explain/ finish D&T and prep cards for afternoon. Had fun with the kids though. Realised when I got home I hadn't had a cup of tea all day. Managed a juice and made cup of tea but it must be hanging around cold somewhere as I only had two sips before starting DT. Need to buy a water bottle.
Have lots of cleaning to do before we set off at 1pm. Interview at 2pm so 2-4pm will be peaceful. Going to take DD to see possible kitchen on the way so she can give her opinion- type, colour, worktops. Need to make a decision soon. Will be my last kitchen!

Callmecordelia · 13/12/2017 08:20

I meant to say that I do understand about the bag. I bought myself a new changing bag for DS, after a Millets scruffy rucksack with DD. I would be sad to lose it. It represents me thinking I'm worth spending a bit of money on, rather than stinting myself while everyone else in the family had nice things iyswim.

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/12/2017 09:00

Today is a case of: What I WANT to do vs what I NEED to do. Need is going to have to win but I reserve the right to sulk about it,

to do
batch cooking
put tea in slow cooker having washed slow cooker
clear windowsil in lounge
decorate windowsil
move computer parts
clean and decorate side board
hand washing
washing
tackle the issue of putting ds' clothes away
mutter darkly about the state of the teen's room (well I will although it might be more swear viciously) Wink
collate boxes for decorations that have been used and move them out of the way
Wrap presents
write cards
assess what energy have left and make a list of what else needs to be done
Try not to let people get to me. The people are driving me batty every fucking day has to start with at least one argument and it just goes downhill from there HmmSad

Cagliostro · 13/12/2017 09:04

Ah thank you all. Hopefully it has been found as I phoned before the bus got to the bus station and it's clearly a changing bag (it is indeed the one with the buggy afresh and thank you for price info) with nothing worth nicking in it.

I know what you mean cordelia we just used the free Boots one with the Caglets and shallow it may be but I was very pleased to have such a lovely bag this time.
