Fledglings Fly back to school & work, September 2017, decluttering along the way ...

Hello, it's time to brush the sand off our feet, empty out the suitcases, sharpen our pencils, polish our lace-up shoes, and get stuck in to the September 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself (cheesy but there is merit to it). The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts of effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions

And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

More info available here, here and here.

Your choice whether or not you sign up to the Flylady e-mails, but we advise caution as there are lots of them!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

The summary for Wednesday 13th September is available on the Flylady website here under "Today" and via the flight plan which should update itself automatically on a daily basis.

Baby-step no. 13 for Wed 13th here. Find a mission (see launch pad) and go and do it!

We are in Zone 3: Main Bathroom and another Room, this week (Sept 10-16 inc.) here.

NB: The "other" room this week is represented by the various "stash and dash spots" in your home such as a bedroom corner, or a nook in a garage or guest room where clutter has begun to assemble!

Spend 15 mins decluttering the current zone.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list for Zone 3 (if you are at that stage) is here.

FYI the detailed cleaning lists this week cover office, laundry room and children's bedrooms.

Wednesday's mission is: here. Clean out and wipe down medicine cabinet and chuck (or take to pharmacy) all expired medicines.

For the "other room", choose a "stash and dash corner" - see above - spend 5 mins putting away stuff that belongs elsewhere.

The daily focus for Wednesday is anti-procrastination. [groan]

The monthly habit for September is the before-bed routine: here.

Flykid's challenge: here (hopefully continually renewing itself).

Daily reminders (which should also update themselves automatically) here.

Keep going everyone!

Those are awesome still DD wants to be a YouTuber I haven't let her loose on there yet but she makes videos on the kindle to pretend :o

SC I really can't accept a well done for the stash and dash I'm so embarrassed we are still having to do this! A whole bag full of random crap just from a couple of small surfaces in the living room! Blush

ta da
✅little more tidying in living room
✅spruced up bathroom in case guests needed to use it (they didn't thankfully, made me realise how crap it is... and kitchen which I don't like people going in)
✅did bank stuff in town although still need to get ID for one thing
✅maths and spellings including new type of question which goes along with Prodigy maths
✅helped DD with a project
✅diary admin
✅supervised DD hoovering
✅taught new pupil!

Need to hang up laundry from yesterday (Caglets always do theirs but I'm terrible at getting ours done) and put a wash on (clothes are in the machine already), and message new pupil's mum too

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 13/09/2017 07:44

I think it was the night for it. Ds was up til gone midnight Hmm took me a while to wind down after the fuss. He then had to get up at 6:30am to get homework done, before going back to bed. Hmm I had to get up with him for said homework completion as he needed access to my computer. When you are tired there are no calories in chocolate right?

Need a to do list:
load of washing
print homework
make ds' lunch
breakfast and up for day
work not forgetting thing to be picked up from office
Early Night!!!!
Return ds' lego
Watch outlander on catch up. (I just can't get into series enough to remember to watch or to be too fussed if I don't see it but it makes no sense with this one if you don't keep up with the episodes I doubt I will make the whole series)

I should also
make another batch of Jam
finish the remains of the brc on the lounge floor
finish folding and ironing washing
put clothes away
Somehow this list might be a hahahahaha nope list Blush

Also when did people on the tv to review newspapers start looking like they are 15?! [old]

Cagliostro · 13/09/2017 08:08

Busy day today and I think I'm getting a(nother) cold Angry

Need to phone docs to book whooping cough and flu vaccine (if they'll let me have them when ill?!), get stuff ready for consultant appt, help Caglets prepare for their blood tests (genetic screening for ASD), renew bus pass, somehow get DD to gym/acro before falling over from tiredness...

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 13/09/2017 08:17

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/09/2017 09:08

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/09/2017 09:09

Where are my manners?

Cagliostro · 13/09/2017 09:57

Any Malteser ones left still :o

I'm mooching on sofa waiting to leave for the next bus for the lamest reason... I left my pee on the table 😂😳 thankfully I was only leaving early with the others to get to the blood test thing (so they can put the magic cream on in town rather than on the moving bus, as you have to do it at an exact time). So won't be late for my antenatal.

God I am knackered 😡

And annoyed with myself as I inadvertently made the maths a bit too tricky today. All credit to the Caglets though they kept trying although I could see DD getting frustrated.

Sandycarrots · 13/09/2017 10:21

Hello just checking in. Sorry you are feeling rough Cag Cake and adds choc to pile of those in need. On storm damage assessment trip! Back tonight! Blustery wing flaps!

Sorry everyone had such a bad night, I hope you are all getting through the day okay, may I just add some of ds birthday cake to the table of goodies to keep people going, it is lemon sponge and we have far too much of it!!

The wind kept waking me up last night too but the dc did actually sleep through it and ds woke up at 6.30 this morning so we're still going in the right direction (he really does seem to just be a very hungry boy!!)

Ta das
Daily routine
Hoovered downstairs
Drunk tea and eaten cake...

My mum is coming over later and I always tell myself that while she is here entertaining the children I'll get on and do loads of housework but it never actually happens I just end up dozing off in the corner of the room and chatting!

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/09/2017 11:21

Cagliostro · 13/09/2017 13:58

I am excited TBF still because YAY BABY!!! But oh god we just have sooo much to sort out first 😱😱😱

Can you use the search function to help, e.g. If you know you don't need any emails from Tesco just search Tesco and then select them all in one hit? I do that with hotmail and gmail anyway.

On way home, will do laundry and a quick bit of HE stuff before heading out to gym

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/09/2017 14:19

(Will wait patiently for virtual baby cuddles)
Tada
Made cranberry and coconut scones

Sorted some english homework for lil zoo...as other two gave shedliads and her math/english teacher this year is not known for his competance i have decided "top up" her learning whilst the other two are slaving away.its also good discipline for secondary(shes year 5 and very smart) as her current school offer very little homework.virtually none in yr 6 as they panic cram for sats yet again prays placement at chosen school is imminent
Found some comprehension for her to do and she can do some multiplying in maths
