Fledglings Fly back to school & work, September 2017, decluttering along the way ...

Hello, it's time to brush the sand off our feet, empty out the suitcases, sharpen our pencils, polish our lace-up shoes, and get stuck in to the September 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself (cheesy but there is merit to it). The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts of effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions

And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

More info available here, here and here.

Your choice whether or not you sign up to the Flylady e-mails, but we advise caution as there are lots of them!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

The summary for Thurs 28th is available on the Flylady website here under "Today" and via the flight plan which should update itself automatically on a daily basis.

Baby-step no. 28 for Thurs 28th is here. An important one about eating and drinking properly and getting enough sleep (ha ha to the last one I can hear some of you say - I am sure you would given the chance!!). However, the underlying principle of trying to look after ourselves properly is sound! We can't look after others effectively if we don't recharge our own batteries from time to time.

We are in Zone 5 this week: The Living Room, Den, Family Room (September 24-30) here.

Spend 15 mins decluttering the current zone.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list for Zone 5 (if you are at that stage) is here.

Thursday's mission is here. Clean the sitting room skirting boards and surrounding area thoroughly.

The daily focus for Thurs is planning day.

The monthly habit for September is the before-bed routine: here.

Flykid's challenge: here (hopefully continually renewing itself).

Daily reminders (which should also update themselves automatically)
here.

Thread business: the end of the month is approaching fast! Where did September go? Shock

Anyone up for future thread running?

I can't do December but would be happy to do Oct or Nov.

Let me know what suits!

Evening all , still viewing potential secondary schools here. One new one tonight and two that we've already seen tomorrow. Not too many more to visit after that I hope.

Did manage to organise ourselves to eat tea and do any homework before leaving for school visit though, it's too late by the time we get back to do much!

Minimal flying again sadly, did do some laundry including the jacket I was wearing this morning when I tried to give DD a quick dose of Calpol before school and dripped it inside my own sleeve when I pulled the syringe out of the bottle too quickly Hmm

I can do October or November.

Sandycarrots · 27/09/2017 22:23

That's great Cotswold, thank you so much! If ok with you, I will do November, if you don't mind taking over this w/e for Oct?

Hope you and your dd are coming across a few schools here and there that fit the bill!

So my evening out turned out a little different to expectations! I thought it was just a regular dinner with a few mates but they had invited some more friends and it was actually a baby shower!!! I may have cried a bit :o lovely lovely people ❤️❤️❤️

Sandycarrots · 27/09/2017 23:39

Aw that is lovely Cag Flowers

OP posts:
foxessocks · 28/09/2017 06:33

That's really lovely cag and much deserved!

Ds has been up since 5...he has just gone back to sleep after a lot of crying and screaming. Not sure what is up with him at the moment Confused anyway obviously I'm now wide awake so am going to lie in bed with my coffee until dd gets up!

Morning to everyone!

foxessocks · 28/09/2017 07:00

To do
Daily routine
Sort out parcel return
Skirting boards
Declutter in living room
Swish and swipe downstairs toilet

Cagliostro · 28/09/2017 09:31

Morning all!

Aw thank you both if I'm honest I am still quite shocked at the idea of deserving anything. I am not really used to having a group of friends and feeling part of something like that - I was so lonely and isolated when I had the Caglets and it was only when I started home ed that I made a good group of friends. 💕

Feeling very sleepy this morning and oh dear lord the living room is a mess!!! We are getting picked up for a play date shortly (must get dressed Hmm) and then we have Badgers later so I think I will not be doing any Flying and certainly no decluttering! But I will do a bit of laundry, I really need to NOT go a day without doing at least something to stop it all building up.

foxessocks · 28/09/2017 09:44

Thanks einstein although I may end up eating them before they get to the coffee morning!! I'm so hungry today. Just put Ds down for his nap and ate the rest of his birthday chocolate buttons Blush (but really who gives a 1 to chocolate as a present! He can't eat them all!!)

Evening all!

Bit up against it here [argh]. Visitors arriving tomorrow and nowhere near ready despite humungous efforts today and not feeling great (seem to have lost control of my temperature gauge which doesn't help). DD went back to school today though and felt fine which is good.

And felt like a right slattern when I went to collect furry from dog trainer's today. Her house is immaculate and gleaming (despite boarding 5 dogs at a time) and she told me that she gets up every day and cleans from 5.30 am to 6.30 am Shock. Ah well ... .

Poor you Foxes having to bake when sleep deprived; think that it is truly heroic! (And well done re: list.) Hope your ds is more settled tonight.

Einstein congrats on tackling >tray of random bits and the pile of BRC stuff!! And for bookcase clearances!

Sorry you are feeling rough Zoo [hands over warm wheat grain pillow]

Hope you survived the day OK Cag and are taking it steady!

Toostressy that is very kind of you indeed to offer to take on Jan or Feb! As you probably know, Jan is particularly busy with everyone turning over new choring leaves at the same time!! Sorry you have to work all weekend which sounds tough going.

Expansive wing flaps to Cotswold Honu Mermaid Gingerivy Mumofazoo and everyone else I have inadvertently missed!
