Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

Thank you everyone Smile you're a lovely lot. I've not really rested that much but I've got a fairly easy day tomorrow as we're having a picnic.

celeste Thank you ido have a wonderful life and I'm really lucky to live in such a gorgeous place, so many people I meet tell me how lucky I am. Except they don't realise that we live at the hospital a great deal of the time and the routines are constant as it will lead to meltdowns with both boys without them. We are also stocked like a pharmacy as 3 of the 4 kids are on quite a lot of medication, but I try to count my blessings and know I'm so lucky to have 4 beautiful children a wonderful dh and my dream home.

once in the summer we are a drying hair overnight family but in winter it's the hairdryer.

Ta da
Dh chopped the firewood
Baked bread
Took girls party
Bought school shoes
Took youngest 3 swimming
Walked dogs
Dishwasher loaded

To do
Take several doughs out of the freezer, ready to bake in the morning for our picnic.

Hope you all have a peaceful night and manage to get a good sleep.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 29/08/2017 22:02

ta da
all the errands - well not all the errands as I lost the postcard that needs to go to the post office and I have probably forgotten something.
Blush
bathroom has been prepped for a deep clean
mother has been supervised sorting stuff
about to go remove the decorators tape so that stuff can go back in that room
Sworn at the amount of lego on ds' floor my fault i knocked over a small tub but that stuff goes everywhere
Sworn at the fact I have forgotten I needed to mend ds' blind before he got back tomo and have no time to do so
Written the to do list to be completed for tomo and then prioritised with absolutely essential to try to make it realistic and achievable
Put a room back together post painting
deep clean bathroom - except bleaching shower
laundry - 1 load (ignoring the fold me fold me pile)

I wanted to get sooo much more done today Sad But I am done and need to crash. Tomorrow is going to have to be an insane busy one.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/08/2017 22:13

Hello all, haven't spent too much time on Mumsnet today which is progress I think!

Einstein, I always have an unrealistic to do list on the go and never get it all done. Cag, so glad you managed to enjoy the afternoon tea Smile.

I'm not getting in to any kind of wet hair / sleep debate since there seem to be strong feelings either side Grin so the post would take a long time to write.

I love the random chats on here celeste Smile.

Big wing flaps to Ginger, Afresh, Cag, Cotswold, zoo and everyone else.

Wheelycote · 30/08/2017 17:02

Just in from work, sitting down with a cuppa and then will tackle the house.

Afternoon cuppas and cake for all ☕️🍰☕️🍰☕️🍰☕️🍰☕️🍷🍰☕️🍰☕️🍰☕️🍰☕️🍰☕️

Wheelycote · 30/08/2017 17:06

Just got the Ta das.....thought it was predictive text alteration😂 and meant to say To Do.

Foxes are you going for a steam mop or a steam mop where the head detached and it can be used on everything. My friend has the latter and loves it! I'm very envious lol

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/08/2017 18:46

Belated birthday wishes to your DS Cagliostro, sounds like a good day.

We were out this morning and I was out this evening. So not a lot achieved today tbh.

Added more items to the to-do list for school.
Amateur mani/pedi
Tad of ironing
Looked for gym kit for DD, came away with a t-shirt for myself Hmm
