Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/07/2017 18:04

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

everyone fed
dishes washed and put away
kitchen tops zoflora'd

We've been out the best part of the last two days on day trips so the house is looking a bit rough around the edges Blush the weather is looking rather inviting to get out and do something nice though so may need to get on with the chores before temptation takes over and housework opportunity is lost.

I have been doing lots of decorating/diy stuff. The only conclusion I can see atm is that I have a headache from the paint/glue fumes and I have managed to file my thumb Hmm I have more painting to do tonight so I am going to try to deal with some of the residual brc stuff that is on the floor still Hmm although all I want to do is curl up in bed and sleep for a week

foxessocks · 27/08/2017 18:57

Ta das
Daily routine

Cag hope you're ok! Not fun being pregnant in today's heat...(well it was very hot here today)

celeste4 · 27/08/2017 18:58

Well my weekends score has been;

sunny weather: 3

We went to the local park this lunchtime where there is lots of water flumes and paddling pool for the kids and we spent a lot of the afternoon there. dh went to the local tesco around the corner midway through and we made a bit of a pinic of it in the end. Its been really quite hot here today (not moaning).

I feel like I'm scoring several own goals today TBH. You know those days where everything just goes to hell and you keep messing up and... yeah that

Oncewaswho · 27/08/2017 21:17

Thanks for the welcome back. I hid the Housekeeping Topic because I was sick of all the spammers, these threads still used to show on TIO (if I had posted) but any I post on from hidden topics now don't show and I have to browse for them which is really annoying as I have a lot of topics hidden.

Anyway, arrived back home from holidays today. About 4 machine loads of washing is out overnight with at least another three to go, hoping the nice dry weather holds out for another day or two. I'm really tired. Also starting to panic about school uniform etc, DD starts secondary school shortly and I have been deluged with letters and emails about all the different requirements. I've got most of it but it's things like PE bags, not sure if any will do or they all have to have the one on the list, that sort of thing. It will be a big change in routine for us all, with her leaving earlier and getting back later, our old morning routine ran like clockwork but not sure the new one will.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 27/08/2017 21:51

Once, it definitely seems to ramp up in secondary with uniform etc. I think I should do the opposite to you and hide all topics except housekeeping - might actually get more done Grin.

Have friends coming round later and we might go into town today as need to print off some photos to get DD1's homework finished, not sure yet. Hoping to go through some of DD2's clothes for school if there's time. DH off today too.

Cagliostro · 28/08/2017 09:36

Oh no mermaids! Ours is pants and we will be replacing it before Cagletini arrives but thankfully it's hanging on in there for now. Are you able to borrow a neighbour's or something?

Sorry about being a misery guts yesterday I'm just in a shitty mood TBH. Can't even blame the hot weather as I didn't go out! Just knackered and completely overwhelmed and stressing about everything. Messed up with DS' birthday treat and keep making silly mistakes which sometimes I can laugh off but other times I just really take it to heart.

Melatonin day 2 (I think I might write a little diary blog post covering the first few weeks?) - not properly asleep until 1. It's weird, she was dozing on and off from 10, but slept much more lightly. But she wasn't full of anxiety either and didn't spend all evening jumping about. Although now I'm wondering if that's why she slept more lightly, because she wasn't tiring herself out with stimming?! Argh. Mind you we had a very quiet lazy day so lack of fresh air etc may have been a factor.

One more week until term begins. Panic truly setting in now about how we will cope with everything. Thankfully the Caglets are starting to wake up earlier and I'll start some extra maths with them this week and maybe some book time. Wednesday will be 'off' for DS' birthday.

Bad news about washer mermaids

OP posts:
YesEinsteinsMumDid · 28/08/2017 10:39

cag lack of exercise and fresh air does play a part in ds' sleep. If you are going to track it, track activities AND sleep. It will help you see if it is sleep med or routine that is the issue. Also it takes ds a couple of weeks to get back into the swing of proper sleep after a summer long break.

I treated myself to a lie in until 10am after my up at 5am not finishing til nearly midnight day yesterday. 4 coats of paint total to finish today plus all the tidying up after painting stuff like paint sheets and frog tape removal etc. Just pottering atm as I actually think I could have slept until noon I am that tired. Not sure I allowed myself enough time after being ill before doing ALL the things. Blush

Cagliostro · 28/08/2017 10:45

Yes normally DD especially never stops moving and she lives for playing outside. But yesterday she was indoors more (and super grumpy because there wasn't anyone to play out with for most of the day). So I'm sure that is a factor. Once term time starts lack of exercise and outdoors time will not be an issue at all thankfully.

She was so much calmer in the evening though and definitely sleepier (she had some calm down time playing Lego as usual, and dozed off on the floor Shock :o) so I do think it's making a difference! I'm not sure if I should make her take it earlier or wait a few more days to see what happens.
