Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

Ah yes I had one of those at the old house too! Much better in bigger house more space to spread the shit around ...

Mumofazoo · 17/08/2017 09:50

Morning everyone,
Feel a bit nauseous today but think it's just a side effect of my anxiety meds.
Ta da
Dishwasher emptied
Mini zoo all fed and watered
Pets all fed
Washing machine on
Ironing done

To do
Finish upstairs closet
Take kids into the woods for a monster hunt
Vacuum house

Hope you all have a productive day Smile

Mumofazoo · 17/08/2017 09:56

TooStressy you can call me anything ofazoo sounds good Grin
Here's a pic of my command centre, excuse the terrible wallpaper I've not got round to replacing it yet as the command centre is pretty much always used. I've got a new set of drawers coming for the bottom to utilise the space more.

I really need a "command centre" here. I have a couple areas that things are kept - mostly home ed stuff and household bills/paperwork stuff. It would be easier to centralise it and have it more organised. I'll be watching the pics with interest.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 17/08/2017 11:16

ofazoo your control center is much prettier than mine Envy

Lie in because although I tried to get an early night the weather had other plans Hmm massive storm front moved through at it is a bit disconcerting when the house shakes slighty (like when a heavy truck passes by at speed) from the thunder and lightening Shock Also lacking in motivation to finish and clearing the floor from the brc work yesterday.

I have 2 cups of coffee with me whilst I mn in bed and wake up but a large pointy stick is probably going to be needed. So if anyone has one or spare motivation that would be helpful.

On a plus note I should be able to paint all the things today which will be good. Am looking forwards to slowly finishing rooms and not living in a complete building site Hmm

Afreshstartplease · 17/08/2017 11:29

Einstein I feel you on living in a building site. No room here is complete yet. Piles of paint stuff here there and everywhere.

foxessocks · 17/08/2017 13:20

Hi everyone. We are having a much needed day at home today although I do need to pop to the shop at some point.

Ta das
Finally rang the HV to cancel a random appointment that had been made for my six week old baby that I don't have.. .think they may have got me muddled with someone else who is probably wondering why nobody has contacted her!
Sorted through some paperwork that has been lying on the table (still got more!)
Daily routine
Made fairy cakes with dd, just waiting for them to cool so we can ice and decorate.

To do
Make apple crumble for pudding tonight
Ice and decorate the cakes
Pop to the shop

And countless other things! Can't believe how late it is already I had such high hopes of acheiving stuff today but stupidly got engrossed in my book while the DC were briefly playing nicely together Hmm

Oh well Cake and Brew later!

I'm quite jealous of all these control centres...I just don't think I'll ever get round to doing it!

Afreshstartplease · 17/08/2017 14:12

foxes I don't think I'll ever get around to it either I can't even keep on top of the washing up

GingerIvy · 17/08/2017 14:52

Hooray. Done with the home and wading through the beginnings of WW2. Now I can relax a bit before dinner. Grin

GingerIvy · 17/08/2017 14:52

ugh. Typo. Home ed, not home. If only I was done with everything around the home. hahaha

Cagliostro · 17/08/2017 16:21

Not caught up on thread yet. Feeling super MEH. Need to phone council several hours ago in a minute, plus book something with another phone call, and shall reward myself with catch up telly when I have. I hate this kind of stuff and am all stressed because of filling in finance forms.

Not even done the HE stuff we need to today - maths done, we've got a good routine going with that now, but DD needs to keep working on her writing challenge task. She's been playing with a neighbour all day. I'm starting to think about what structure we will have when schools go back.

I have also been reading the "fear of home ed" thread which I have sunk a lot of time into!

Do you blog about HE by the way ginger I've not kept up with mine since morning sickness struck :o hopefully will get back to it at some point

Cagliostro · 17/08/2017 16:25

Afresh buggy is the cosatto giggle 2. Not quite our top choice TBH but we have so much to spend money on ATM that we didn't want to stretch to the money no object one (mothercare orb) - this one was on offer and includes car seat too so glad we have got all that organised in one fell swoop!

Also, look how pretty it is!

Right now I really really am going to phone the council Shock

Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread
Afreshstartplease · 17/08/2017 16:29

Cag I have a giggle 2! Different fabric and I won't share which as that and other things I share here may become outing lol.

Cosatto customer service is very good I cannot fault them and love you can buy spares easily online

Cagliostro · 17/08/2017 16:34

Oh fab that's great to hear thank you. I'm hoping it'll be right for us. It's been so long since I bought a buggy that I felt quite overwhelmed by choice!

Cagliostro · 17/08/2017 16:36

In particular I really love that the pushchair bit can switch easily between front and rear facing. Both Caglets were forward facing much sooner than I would've liked. This baby will have to put up with staring at my face for longer :o

I phoned the council! Go me! Other phone call was engaged but I'll keep trying. That deserves chocolate right?

Afreshstartplease · 17/08/2017 16:38

Only issue I had with it so far is that ds outgrew the carrycot before 6 months and the seat unit is 6 months plus or sitting on their own. I just had to use the seat unit tipped back but think they say 6 months as its not a fully lay flat seat and laying it back raises the legs. Ds survived though.

Afreshstartplease · 17/08/2017 16:38

Ds still parent facing at nearly 10 months

I had my dd parent face until about 18months in a similar pram

GingerIvy · 17/08/2017 16:52

Cag I'm just getting a blog started, so working on the mechanics of it at the moment. Hopefully will have it up and running soon. We only take about 2 weeks off during the summer - usually during the dcs' birthdays as they are close - then ease in for 2 weeks of "lower level stuff" to review and set up things again, and now this week we're back into full swing again. That way they're back to normal academic stuff a few weeks before the term time group activities start up. Otherwise it's just too much change at once for them. I'd love to look at your blog if you could post a link (or DM it to me if you'd rather). I understand if you'd rather keep it private, but I enjoy looking at other people's blogs.

foxessocks · 17/08/2017 19:32

Ta das
Made apple crumble
Did some work
Tidied up after dinner
Deep cleaned bathroom (caught up on all the missions!) and changed all the towels and the bath mat
Iced the cakes (which were disastrous and I was ready to throw them in the bin in frustration but dh convinced me to keep them! Worst cakes I've ever made!)

Didn't go to the shop but will go tomorrow.

Feeling tired and hormonal (think because I'm stopping breastfeeding, I remember getting quite miserable at this stage with dd). We are off for some pirate themed fun tomorrow though so hopefully will cheer me up!

Mumofazoo · 17/08/2017 20:26

cag that buggy is gorgeous Smile
ginger I love reading people's blogs too.
I am knackered but everything that needs doing today has been done. So I have lit the wood burner and I'm now sat down with a hot cup of rooibos and a delicious cinnamon bun that my lovely friend has made.

Ta da
Sorted this months filing
Printed off a couple of months meal plan templates
Collected more firewood
Took the kids into the woods to fish in the stream and monster hunt
Bath said kids as they where filthy.
Bedtime routine
Turn dishwasher on
Sweep and mop kitchen and hall

Tomorrow is bedding day and I need to vacuum upstairs, I also promised the kids that we can go in the woods again, as I don't allow the two youngest to go in on their own.
Hope you have all had a productive day Brew

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/08/2017 21:43

Hello all, sorry, have been at work and not got a chance to get on here today.

Thanks Ginger. Tooth actually doesn't hurt but am worried about what they will want to do to it Sad. Afresh, that is certainly drastic action to move house to get rid of the kettle pile Grin! Oh wow ofazoo, thanks for the picture of your command centre - it looks amazing!

Einstein, very belatedly, here you go
------->

foxes, hope you feel better tomorrow. I als feel a bit shit today, busy at work and have achieved nothing really tonight. Hoping to sit and do a bit of organising then feel better in the morning.

Cag, Star for phoning council. Buggy is definitely very pretty Smile.

Big wing flaps to all. Links next...

I have a paint fumes headache. And more painting to do tomo, then more at the weekend.

RBC pile has not been touched Blush It isn't likely to get touched tomo either but we will see. Maybe if I can escape the fume headache I might find the motivation. Alternatively it will thank fuck its friday fuck the cleaning. beat on this option it is the most likely

Afreshstartplease · 18/08/2017 05:30

Ds up and down all night. I gave in at 5 and got up with him. Yawn

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 18/08/2017 08:10

Afresh Brew.

Morning all. Ta da:-
DD2 and me up and dressed

To do:-
More unpacking- it is still everywhere Sad
Laundry
Try to send work email
Out with friends later
Both DDs have swimming lessons later - first time with both of them so will have to see how I manage to fit tea in.

Cagliostro · 18/08/2017 08:48

Morning all. Felt so crap yesterday. Then realised at 1am that I'd filled in the finance form WRONG. Used some 15-16 info instead of 16-17. Facepalm.

Ginger that's exciting setting one up! I look forward to reading it when you have. Mine is here :) as I said it's been somewhat neglected this year. I was doing weekly diary posts - mostly for family to see really, I'm far too lazy to promote it - but early pregnancy nausea was horrendous up to 16 weeks this time and even things like reading and typing made me feel ill, so I stopped and despite now being 27 weeks I haven't got back into it. I'll probably just do occasional posts instead if I can manage it, I would like to write about other subjects too - autism (both Caglets are, and so am I!), my chronic illness, and board game reviews :o.

Must get Caglets to put dryer on this morning. Needless to say the daily laundry thing hasn't been going well! I really need to get into it though as it'll be essential when Cagletini arrives.

Also might try and locate the new Aldi as my friend informs me they have a baby event. So might go buy stuff. Trying to find a balance between getting what we need and also not bringing too much into the house while we try to declutter. Confused

Need to help DD finish her writing challenge. And drop aforementioned form to the council once I've actually got it right FFS and get DD's friend a birthday present. Blah.

Hi Mumofazoo I got very confused there and thought still had namechanged!
