Welcome to the June 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

Feel free to park your mops and buckets here from the 1st of the month!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here, here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions

And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees welcome!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Lovely weather you say SC Envy

I need to add clear gutters to the to do list, the weather seems to have provide my very own Niagara falls to admire Hmm

Sanscollier · 05/06/2017 09:38

Not a particularly good photo but thought I would nip back on here with some good news which might cheer dc!! We have three chicks in our nest (think they are swifts but not sure need to research!!).

Actually, now you have mentioned the weather Einstein it is starting to look a bit iffy here now too!! Good luck with your list!

Rosa meant to say previously that what you are doing in spending short bursts of time on specific tasks on a regular basis (rather than doing one task until you reach the end) sounds like perfect Flying to me Star Star

Have a lovely day everyone! Need to go and scrub the lav and find a clean towel for cloakroom before visitor arrives!

Hi everyone! Ooh chicks SC how lovely! Goodness knows we all need a bit of cheer at the moment.

I have had a hell of a morning, dropped DD at nursery and me and DS went food shopping but he has been such a miserable baby, not sure what is up with him but he has screamed and scratched me every time I've tried to get him in his car seat and then was absolutely hysterical while I was trying to unpack the shopping so I gave up and got the cold stuff in the fridge so I'm now feeding him whilst surrounded by the rest of the shopping and I've got to leave right now to pick up dd and he's going to scream at me again Confused gah!

On a positive note I have been drinking a bit more water, an extra glass here and there when I remember so that's something! And I did get the food shopping done I suppose!

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 05/06/2017 15:07

Has he been pulling or rubbing his ears more than normal? foxes

Trying to construct a document from other people's work. Not sure I have the most uptodate version, also had to trash this mornings work at lunchtime because the formatting wasn't working and try to redo from scratch in a completely different program.

Hi all. Lovely bank holiday with visit from friend (save for ill dog who I think stupidly ate a dead mole). And yes it is exciting about chicks. Have narrowed them down to swallows or house martins. Surprisingly, they can both have unfledged youngsters well in to September. Big traffic jam on way home though so pls forgive hasty post tonight!

Foxes sorry to hear your little chap is unwell; do you think it is teething again?

Flylady aficionados: I could be wrong in fact I probably am wrong but is the Flylady website stuck or something? It is still showing "May" zones if you enter through "Today" on the home page. (It normally takes about three days to adjust itself but this is a bit strange.) And have we ever done cutlery drawer cleaning twice in a row before (missions in kitchen zone)? I could be wrong, but I don't ever remember that being the case? Or am I simply going mad? Anyone?

*

The summary for Tuesday 6th June is available on the Flylady website here under "Today" and via the flight plan which should update itself automatically on a daily basis.

Baby-step no. 6 for Tues 6th June is here - continue previous steps & learn about hot-spots ie those steaming piles of clutter that we have to "put out" from time to time!

We are in Zone 2 this week: Kitchen, Back Porch, Laundry Room, Pantry here. (The website is now showing the kitchen zone via the launch pad, but not via "today" argh).

Spend 15 mins decluttering the current zone.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list for Zone 2 (if you are at that stage) is here.

Tuesday's mission is here. Clean your cutlery drawer.

The daily focus for Tuesday is planning. Holidays, medical appts, wardrobes, menus etc.

The monthly habit in June is drinking water.

Daily reminders (which should also update automatically) are here.

Small steps everyone!

SC, I usually go in through the launch pad www.flylady.net/c/lp.php which is how Cotswold (I think) showed me to do it. It says June in habit of the month if I go in that way? Re. missions. I'm afraid I don't pay enough attention to them to know. Repeating the same mission twice in consecutive days does seem unusual!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/06/2017 21:09

www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions don't think the missions are repeating here?

Sanscollier · 05/06/2017 21:17

Thanks Toostressy I know it is showing the correct month through the zones, but I like to have the precise dates of the zones, accessed through "Today" which is currently showing May as the current month!! [argh!!] It is always late but usually corrects itself on about day 4; it is taking longer this month for some reason.

With regard to missions: I could have sworn we washed down our stove top and cleaned out our cutlery drawer on days one and two of the kitchen zone in May didn't we? I have the links in word docs and will try and dig them out tomorrow when I have a bit more time!! Or maybe I am just going bonkers ... Grin

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/06/2017 21:23

Oh I always wondered how your dates were so precise!

Sanscollier · 05/06/2017 21:28

I know it doesn't really matter as many of us don't do precise zone work at weekends (when the zones usually change) it just annoys me intensely for some reason [old saddo emoticon]
