Welcome to the June 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

Feel free to park your mops and buckets here from the 1st of the month!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here, here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions

And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees welcome!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Yep foxes off to Dorset to do fossil hunting!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/06/2017 19:59

Ha! Yes, wine sounds good.

Yes, was a trying day with work for a few reasons mostly related to my boss but I don't want to say too much on here.

TBH the kids have been pretty good all evening so I can't really complain but I have had enough now and we have a ridiculous (self inflicted) day tomorrow so they need to go to sleep.

Took my eye off the ball at bedtime I was on Mumsnet and feel annoyed with myself as then they started to play up. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

Tomorrow to do:-
School run
Parenting class
Pick up DD2 from preschool
Pack to visit my parents
DD1 swimming
DD1 school fair
Go to my parents

I feel tired just thinking about it!! At least DH will drive and he's not working tomorrow so can rest tomorrow before the drive.

Still have a lot of stuff out all over the house so need to do some decluttering now.

Thanks for links SC. Also Flowers for you and your DD. I can't imagine how hard it is for them to have lost a classmate. My DDs lost friends years ago and there will always be a hole and each milestone is missing someone Flowers.

Sanscollier · 29/06/2017 20:10

Thank you very much Toostressy; it happened before Christmas and you are right, every milestone since has felt v poignant indeed and I am sure will continue to do so. Whatever stresses we have been through; nothing remotely compares to what those poor parents and siblings are suffering Sad. Words are not sufficient ... Sad

Gosh, your day tomorrow looks very packed indeed! Good luck with it all!

Hope your dc settle soon! Wine Cheers to you! And thank you so much for volunteering for July!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/06/2017 20:16

Wrote a rambling post then thought it was a bit too heavy for here! I think every milestone will always be extra poignant, yes. I try to remember them frequently so they will always be a part of things.

Have given both DDs a hug so feeling slightly less guilty and hoping sleep will follow soon Smile.

Sanscollier · 29/06/2017 20:19

I'm so sorry Toostressy I am brain dead this evening; I should have said, I am so very sorry that your dds have lost friends too Flowers The remembering is very important x

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/06/2017 20:22

Don't worry at all. DD2 was only a baby and DD1 a toddler at the time so tbh they don't remember it. We are still friends with the family which is nice. Sorry all if this is too depressing!

Sanscollier · 29/06/2017 20:38

Not at all Toostressy. Life goes on, but one feels considerable guilt for stressing about such paltry things as exams. It is lovely that you still see the family x.

Cagliostro · 29/06/2017 20:39

Gosh I missed that about dds classmate, how awful sc :(

Sanscollier · 29/06/2017 20:44

Thank you Cag.

Sanscollier · 29/06/2017 20:45

Right, I thought I was at the end of today's chores but dd has just given me a list of more things to find for camp! I have no idea how we are going to fit all of this stuff in the suitcase!

OP posts:
Sanscollier · 29/06/2017 21:48

Last ta das:
hung up last bits of washing
tidied up kitchen after supper
fetch last bits for camp
animals again
put towels in for overnight washing
found black clothes
found "gala evening" clothes
found three jam jars with lids

G'night all!

mermaidsandunicorns · 29/06/2017 22:58

Evening all

Wonderful evening! The wifi control through router seems to have had a miraculous effect on ds2 who didn't even look at the computer tonight!!
Ds1 told me he learnt about periods today on school and was the stuff of nightmares 😂😂

Been feeling really poorly so been in bed for most of today however did manage some basics

Steam cleaned downstairs loo
Dishwasher loaded and done
Asked ds1 to put bin out and he put it next to the dustbin so naturally the seagulls had a field day
Bin mess cleaned up 😐
Uniforms washed

Need to tackle enormous ironing pile tomorrow

We have our local carnival on Saturday and merlets want to enter as storm troopers

Cagliostro · 30/06/2017 04:21

Having one of my random awake-in-the-middle-of-the-night-fests Hmm although shouldn't grumble as Zoo may already be up for the day! Hope school meeting went well!

Will have a rest this morning, lately I've been going down to sports club with DH/Caglets but today I'm taking the chance to snooze!

Not that there isn't plenty of other stuff I should be doing instead. Hmm But DH is on day 2 of 8 straight work days Angry so better take the chance to be child free while I can.

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/06/2017 07:50

cag indeed I was up (at the time you posted stepping on a slug nestled behind sofa as I was clearing up.thank god I wasn't barefoot but still an eeewy moment!)
sc sorry to gear if you dd loss.congrats she got thru the year!!

Meet was nightmare.ed welfare said school felt they were dealing with things great.I disagree. I lost my shit in the end n demand just sign paperwork say I'd attended n leave.result me shout at her give me paperwork. I sign it and slam on table, she scuttle after me try get me talk family support(in hi heels n pencil skirt) as I stride of angry speed in jeans n flat boots snapping I'm done.get out of my face.not my finest hour.......

Went home cry n went bed...

Pick up lil zoo tells me family support see her(5mins after I left) and some issues not handled were dealt with there n then.knee jerk and too late tbh.I've put in application change schools

Yesterday was a washout.today I will do better

Thanks marvellous leadership thus month sc

Cagliostro · 30/06/2017 07:55

Oh zoo that sounds awful :( some schools are just shit at handling the pastoral care stuff and perhaps even worse at this time of year. Perhaps even worse now because it's the end of the school year. I think you just know though, when the school has let your DC down so badly that you can't possibly continue there. Thanks

Managed to get back to sleep for a bit after feeling lots of baby wriggles :o

Cagliostro · 30/06/2017 07:55

Sorry didn't mean to basically repeat a sentence in there Blush

mermaidsandunicorns · 30/06/2017 08:34

Flowers
This was why I moved my two the school just had no clue at all x
Sending you lots of strength

Sanscollier · 30/06/2017 09:01

Morning all!

Oh dear Foxes that sounds really awful; I'm sorry you were so upset. Sounds like a case of too little, too late. Hope you are feeling as ok as poss today. Take it steady!

Cag fossil hunting sounds fab! As does Cagletini throwing shapes in the night, albeit not very restful for you! Enjoy your child free time!

Mermaids sorry you are feeling unwell, I hope you recover soon. Good luck with stormtrooper costumes for Sat! Grin Fab that the router trick is working so well btw!

Foxes how are you feeling today?

I've woken up with cracking headache and the shivers, sore throat etc.. Have just done quick s &s, dog walk and morning routine and then must steel myself for a last min Decathlon sortie with DD.

OP posts:
Sanscollier · 30/06/2017 09:04

Just checking in for the end of the month, I've been trying and failing to keep up with the thread as I mostly MN on my phone nowadays. I have been just about keeping up with you all.

Off out to the allotment in a minute, then helping with something at DD's school this afternoon and out again this evening. First got to hang up some washing. The house is just about holding itself together but this corner where the computer is is an absolute pit, everyone just dumps stuff all over the desk and shelves and floor, I am considering a clean sweep and a total ban on food in this room.

Sanscollier · 30/06/2017 09:09

Oh yes - and hope you managed to get some sleep eventually Toostressy

Morning all, will post link to new thread later today. Flowers and Brew to all that need them.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 30/06/2017 09:17

I took a day off sick yesterday. This morning has been hell, shouty and very stressful. Hmm
no one is dead although one person is off to A&E - my bet is stress related angina not heart attack because there is history of this and they are under a lot of stress.
ds is late for school but I have warned them.
my to do list has more than quadrupled how???!

zoo if it is bad enough put in a complaint to Ofsted. Sorry you had to go through that, it is hell Flowers
