Ho, ho, ho - welcome to the December Flylady thread. We'll be following the Flylady method and enforcing order on our houses. Feel free to join in. The monthly focus for December is pampering Xmas Grin

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first.

You can probably already tell my personal level of dedication to the internet, not the house as I've looked up the Christmas smileys specially. No washing up was done in the making of this post.

I'll post the first December links tonight!

TooStressy it's not so bad, I'm insured so if it bothers me I can get it replaced. It's a miracle it hasn't happened before now.

CotswoldStrife · 23/12/2016 16:50

Welcome Infinite, good to have you with us.

I have done the food shopping today, bought the turkey, gammon and the pudding so it's go, go, go for Christmas Xmas Grin

Had a really nice couple of days drinking with friends in the evening.

Getting a bit breezy here at the moment, a large tree has a huge part of it come off. I went out before lunch and it was fine (it's on a road on the estate) and then went out again after lunch and there it was, lying across the road! I didn't think the wind was that strong but it's happened.

Hope all of you with colds get well soon - I have avoided them so far this year and am sniffing the First Defence spray in a bid to fight one off at the moment. I haven't felt this well this close to Christmas in years though, so I feel very lucky! And in this feeling better spirit - tonight, I will wrap! Rather than leave it to the last minute - although talking of the last minute, I need to write the Christmas cards to put through the neighbour's doors ...

Will post the links for tomorrow as usual tonight although - hey, it's Christmas Eve. Do we really need them for the next three days? Feel free to ignore I won't take it personally Xmas Grin

Hello all!

A warm welcome to InfiniteSheldon

Cotswold thanks for posting the links at the busiest time of year - don't know how you do it - much appreciated!

Hope everyone is surviving the Christmas madness. Haven't stopped since 6.30 am this morning (and still got one more bed to make but today I have):

Ta da:
rolled out of bed and groaned

fed wms again
walked dog 1
finished hanging baubles on Christmas tree
stashed all Chrimbo decorations boxes on 2nd floor

finished off sideboard
hung up Angel above creche
dangled three more decorations from light fittings
packed up Chrismas cake for friend
wrote cards and wrapped present for office
dropped off neighbour's cards
went to meeting with dd's titulaire/form teacher
emptied dw
tidied up more downstairs
supervised hanging of dog gate
wrapped cleaner's present and things for her family + card
dropped off hairdresser present

Have come to a total halt now. Have to make a bed and then going to collapse and watch yesterday's recording of Masterchef

Very impressed how much everyone has got done today!

Muppets yes I am psyching myself up for grocery shop tomorrow too! Courage (said in strong French accent)!

Oh no to new cold Purple! Great that all your decorating and Flying efforts have been noted and rewarded!

Good luck turkey wrestling Toostressy Well done to dd2!

Stillliving glad your dd2 as well as can be expected in circs. You are doing incredibly well considering everything you are going through x

Cotswold if dd fails the next set of exams then she faces the dreaded "redoublement" (doing the entire year again, losing current set of friends, not to be recommended but 60% of pupils here go through at some point)!

Big waves to Whoknows Blue Knitting Cag Celeste Afreshstart Honu and loads of people I have forgotten -brain dead now!

Enjoy your evenings everyone!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/12/2016 19:27

Oh that's good re phone insurance Muppets. SC the school system sounds horrific! Thanks for links Costswold. Purple, "the first wave of relatives" made me chuckle Xmas Grin.

Whoknows, Flowers for DMIL.

Ta da:-
Decided against toy shop right before Xmas!
DD2 asleep
DD1 in bed
Some wrapping done with DCs earlier
Tidied Happyland (love doing this Xmas Blush)
Emptied vaccuum cleaner

To do:-
Tesco shop coming tonight
Somehow get food to fit in fridge and freezer
Hoping to somehow do an hour or so of study - might be wishful thinking but I have got to keep going or I will run out of time. Wishing I had just booked a day off and put DC into childcare to get it done but couldn't justify the cost and seems a shame to it if I don't need to leave over Xmas.
Have nice tea with DH - he is working tomorrow plus my parents are coming so hoping to have nice meal together tonight
Go out and deliver some cards
Quick house rescue
Make plan for tomorrow - am concerned that DC very over excited and high potential to behave badly with my parents
Before bed routine

Mulled Wine to all of you!

PurpleDaisies · 23/12/2016 20:14

It turned out the cold was a bit of a blessing in disguise-dh's relatives were being quite annoying so I declared I needed an afternoon nap and we were having take away for dinner, then went to bed. Am now wondering if this tactic will work for Christmas dinner. Grin

I haven't got everything done but the house isn't a disaster area, everyone has eaten and seems happy so that's not too bad. Both the dishwasher and washing machine are on for the second time today too.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheMistletoes · 23/12/2016 23:00

I haven't got everything done that was on my list, but the house is looking a lot better than it did this time yesterday and we have had a nice day. I popped into town for a few last minute bits this morning, then had to take DCs to nearest city for an appointment, city is historic and beautiful at this time of year. Then home, out to friends for drinks and nibbles followed by an open air carol service (luckily Storm Barbara not travelling quite this far south so far). Also wrapped a few more presents, a few to do once I'm certain the DCs are asleep (they were inspired by the darts on the telly to hold their own tournament which only finished about half an hour ago).

House wise - bleached the loo, tidied all downstairs floors and hoovered, cat litter trays cleaned, cat sick cleaned off carpet, that's about it. Busy day in store tomorrow, but DH will be back mid afternoon.

Thank you for all the best wishes for DMIL, she is reported to be improving today, it will be a long haul but hopefully the worst is over.

CotswoldStrife · 23/12/2016 23:44

Shock SC 60% Shock That is ridiculous!

I have not wrapped yet or written cards for the neighbours but might do a bit now (if I put the wine glass down and wake up DH by dragging it out from the hiding places).

Will post the links next but hey, it's Christmas Eve, feel free to ignore ...

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

Little ds had an unsettled night. Has done an amazing amount of dirty nappies in last two days I assume due to the immunisations he had. He now has a sore bum Sad

Older three have been bouncing around since the very early hours irritatingly excited

Yesterday I did the food shop and just basic day to day stuff. Today I need to do basic stuff as well as all hoovering mopping etc

Who's with me?

foxessocks · 24/12/2016 08:48

Sorry for going AWOL and I haven't caught up completely yet! Dh had the day off yesterday so we were out all day. And so far today I haven't got out of bed! I know I should be doing something useful but can't seem to get motivated despite it being Christmas Eve!!

Anyway I just wanted to say happy Christmas eve and hope everyone has a lovely festive weekend. I'm going to try my absolute best to relax and enjoy the weekend without any stressing!

CotswoldStrife · 24/12/2016 09:29

Morning all! Merry Christmas Eve.

Ta das (bear in mind I've been up since 5:30):-
Laundry on
Dishwasher on
3 presents wrapped (for DH and DC so good to get these done while nobody watching)
DD2 has told DH what one of his presents is Xmas Hmm
Drawer of clothes reorganised in DD1's room (half were out so seemed as good a time as any to do it)
Taken DC's out and am sitting in soft play - desperate attempt to burn some of their energy off.

To do:-
Take wrapping stuff out of spare room
Hope DC behave for my parents coming
Go into town to pick up bread and get some money out
Loads of wrapping later!
Write DH's card
Study????!

Hope everybody's days are not too stressful Brew

Afternoon!

Just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and all good things for 2017!

Will be off line for a bit! (Orf to countryside after Christmas. No Internet connection)

Our second set of visitors arrived in the early hours after a hideous journey, so feeling a bit jaded but at least house is reasonably clean and organised and Christmassified!

Currently simmering Christmas gammon joint in cider with bayleaves and peppercorns etc.

Don't have the Christmas "tingle" yet though. Very odd because I love Christmas! It just seems to have come around too soon this year for some reason! So I am with you there ¨Foxes.

Still have immediate family wrapping to do and must make stock for gravy from turkey giblets. Also need to make pastry for mince pies! And make one more bed for last visitor tomorrow.

Whoknows glad to hear your mil is a bit better

Zoo thinking of you and your family

Wishing you and your dh a very happy Christmas Honu

knittingwithnettles · 24/12/2016 21:18

First wave over - big meal eaten and semi-cleared away, presents exchanged (German Christmas Eve style) more presents tomorrow and stockings for kids (who are not really kids.)

I had to rush to Morrisons to cobble together some stocking fillers as cooking took longer today than I thought and I wasn't able to descend on the "Mall". I have been hopeless this year. But at least I had my Christmas outfit (dd was obsessed by this) ready, luckily I ordered an orange Austrian cardi in Oct which looks splendid with green topaz necklace and brown chiffon dress (pre-existing from M & S) For one awful moment I thought I was going to have add trudging round in search for suitably glam outfit to my To Do List, but decluttering revealed some nice items already in wardrobe.

Table just about seated 10-12 (someone turned up late which helped) when I added a desk to the end bit! and covered all with tablecloth. And two manky chairs from loft proved invaluable, and went from manky to regal looking.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/12/2016 21:38

Well done knitting
