Ho, ho, ho - welcome to the December Flylady thread. We'll be following the Flylady method and enforcing order on our houses. Feel free to join in. The monthly focus for December is pampering Xmas Grin

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first.

You can probably already tell my personal level of dedication to the internet, not the house as I've looked up the Christmas smileys specially. No washing up was done in the making of this post.

I'll post the first December links tonight!

Just to warn you that MNHQ have developed a new way of tagging people in posts - it will send you an email unless you turn it off - by typing @ and the username. It doesn't work for yourself so @CotswoldStrife doesn't send one to myself (I've tried!). So don't think you can disappear from the thread ....

Newchick, this is the first year I have not been struggling with some kind of virus (touches wood) close to Christmas so you have my sympathy. It is a grim time of year to be ill with so much to do.

Muppets the timer does work for me and I should use it more often than I do.

Stressy hope your DD is OK, sorry she missed her party.

SC the school system sounds rather user-unfriendly and I feel your pain on the time spent moving other people's stuff. It is a bugbear of mine too.

I hope the baby coped with the jabs OK freshstart and I hope you get some sleep tonight foxes.

It's never too early for Wine Blue and purple good to hear that you have seen at least a possible car.

Will maybe add a glass of wine into the mix in the afternoon too if i start flagging Grin My Mum has been and collected ds to take him off my hands today. Think they are off to see Santa (for the 3rd time for ds this xmas).

Cagliostro · 20/12/2016 12:14

Totally fallen off the flying wagon here, nightmare few days, ill and stressy. I just want it to be Christmas!

WhoKn0wsWhereTheMistletoes · 20/12/2016 13:04

Still lurking, planning to RTFT thread tonight. I just wanted to pay testament to my steam cleaner again! Got it out yesterday, did the inside of the fridge (shelves, walls, salad boxes), the oven and grill, the cooker hood (which was pretty greasy) and the coffee machine - all in about half an hour with just a couple of microfibre cloths to wipe up with and no chemicals.

Having a quiet day today, a bit of tidying, baking, going to see a friend later. Still need to do some wrapping and cards for the neighbours. I'm sorry so many Fledglings are dealing with illness, stress, car accidents.

Oh and I've turned my tagging off. No objection to pms (so long as they are nice!), but tagging is a step too far for me. It always makes me twitch slightly when someone tags me on FB, so I will see how it pans out.

Sweepingchange · 20/12/2016 13:29

Hello everyone - thanks for kind words - I am totally behind with everything Christmassy (and everything not Christmassy for that matter! Grin) but nonetheless feeling much cheerier today. Much helped by a lovely sunny bright day. It's cold, but so much easier to see and get things done in the house with some sunshine!

I gave up yesterday evening and went to bed early with Netflix. All my teeth ache and dd's glands are up again so don't think we are entirely rid of this flu thing yet which could go some way to explaining my maudlin mood yesterday.

And dh responded to my melt down by kindly and heroicially sitting down for almost two hours with dd in front of the computer last night, tracking down individual teacher e-mail addresses via other parents and PTA contacts (who responded to him immediately but hadn't responded to my earlier enquiries Confused) e-mailing the teachers individually for appts (without going through dodgy group portal thing), so we now have meetings on Wed, Thurs and Fri and I am much relieved! And I've managed to track down a Latin tutor with whom we are meeting on Wed. Phew! And double phew! It's a bit of a pain having to do this a few days before Christmas but I so wanted dd to start the NY at school with a plan and in a positive frame of mind even if she is intent on disengaging.

Sympathies Cag take it steady Flowers

Hope your dd enjoys her party Foxes

Enjoy the wrapping Celeste! Wine

Thanks for heads up about tagging Cotswold not sure I understand it completely and not sure I like the sound of it, but will investigate and am v grateful to be forewarned!

Still woo hoo - you are on a roll - well done to waving goodbye to all those BRC!! Brilliant stuff!

Glad to hear you are doing ok Purple good luck with the skirting boards!

Efficient looking lists there Toostressy!

Ta for wine Blue yes, dh said some of the other parents had found it difficult to make apptsas it happens, although the native Belge seem to know what to do by osmosis! And they do make exceptions for ill-health re:exams and this term has been a very sad/difficult one for dd's class for various reasons but her previous attendance and exam record has been a bit chequered so need to stay on top of it and teachers need to know we are all working on it.

Big waves to Muppets Gowgirl and everyone else I have missed!

It's all egalité when you join the school and totally ruthless when it comes to moving on up (only 50% made it through from 2nd to 3rd secondaire last year). Which leaves the other 50% being chucked out or doing the dreaded "redoublement". Sad This is a state school btw too!

Sounds like a very good plan to stress about Christmas when guests are looming on the horizon! I am going to adopt the same strategy and fingers crossed I find some energy from somewhere.

Waves to Gowgirl and Muppets and everyone else!

Anyway, apologies again for the whinge yesterday. Reading a few threads on Mumsnet this week about bereavements and serious illness, awful at any time but particularly just before Christmas, one realises how lucky one is.

Sweepingchange · 20/12/2016 13:30

x posts Whoknows

I am more and more liking the sound of steam cleaners for cleaning fridges and defrosting freezers!

Will work out how to turn tagging off later!

Thanks all!

Sweepingchange · 20/12/2016 13:31

Enjoy your baking Whoknows!!

celeste84 · 20/12/2016 14:02

Ta das

beds made
washed dishes
bleached both loos
tidied ds's rooms
cleaned out the hamster cage
getting there with the xmas wrapping...

I've forgotten to water the plants. Must go and do now Grin

Have fun at the xmas party Foxes

I know that feeling Caglio

A bit puzzled with all this MN tagging. What is the purpose of it exactly?

Sweepingchange · 20/12/2016 14:04

Yes, what is tagging exactly? (Sorry to be so luddite-ish.)

celeste84 · 20/12/2016 14:19

No idea. Is MN suddenly gonna become like FB with lots of notifications? Confused

celeste84 · 20/12/2016 14:27

Today I WILL finish the wrapping by hook or by crook, then it will be the pre-xmas clean which I will be starting our xmas pre-clean tomo. Everything will be blitzed!!

Deck the halls with boughs of holly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Defrost the freezer with a scapel,
Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Mop the floors with dettol,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Kill the toilet germs with domestos,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Hide the ironing pile under the staircase,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Wipe the kitchens with Zoflora,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
I'll trapse the lounge with the hoover,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Don't forget to shine the glasses,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Spend two days solid cleaning our houses,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Sing we joyous, all together,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Heedless of the wind and weather,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Xmas Grin

Love the festive verse Celeste Grin

Cheers!

Sweepingchange · 20/12/2016 14:53

PS Very happy to see you got a Zoflora reference in there too! Wink

celeste84 · 20/12/2016 15:19

(cough) Its red wine actually. Only the one cheeky glass Xmas Grin

Well 2016 has been very much the year of Zoflora on MN so i made an effort to fit it in.

PurpleDaisies · 20/12/2016 17:42

celeste that's genius!

My skirting boards are finally done and looking great. There's probably one more coat to totally finish them off but I can build the flat pack and put it in the porch without having to paint them again first. I've had family here today so not much useful done but it was a nice day.

I have never used Zoflora (I hope that doesn't get me kicked off the thread!). Am I missing out?

WhoKn0wsWhereTheMistletoes · 20/12/2016 18:14

Purple - that depends on your sense of smell, Zoflora is very heavily scented, I've tried a few different varieties as it is a very useful product (tiny bottles of very concentrated detergent) but to me they all smell rank. Many love them though.

Great poem Celeste - those I'm just trying to remember the names you gave your loo germs when you were on your bleach ban!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/12/2016 18:30

Celeste Grin. Also never used zoflora Xmas Blush.

Will look into this tagging thing. It will be something to do when I'm meant to be studying!

celeste84 · 20/12/2016 19:44

Well I have finally got all our wrapping done. Took all afternoon mind. Hate doing it so I'm glad its over with. Am now on my 2nd glass of wine, well deserved if i may say so myself Smile

Purple I don't think this thread is majorly overloaded with Zoflora obsession. There are numerous other threads on MN for that.

Whoknows What toilet germs? There are no germs in my loo. They were bleached today Grin I am unashamedly ruthless to toilet germs. But from memory, yes their names were Jeremy Germ and Steve-coli during the bleach ban Smile DH still threatens me with another bleach ban Hmm

Stressy I'm intrigued about this tagging so let me know if you found out anything.

Cagliostro · 20/12/2016 19:49

I'm pretty much done with wrapping too. DH is doing the last few stocking fillers when he gets home tonight (we have to keep the santa wrapping paper hidden and I can't reach it!) but basically everything else is sorted. Just waiting on one twitch present (another sodding book) to arrive and I have to get DSS' GF another little gift as well

celeste84 · 20/12/2016 20:27

Yay to us on the wrapping front Caglio Smile
