My house/Zoflora

1000 replies

TheLionQueen · 20/10/2016 11:28

Posting here for traffic.
My house is a bit horrid. I have pets and a messy DH (who does get on board when I have a proper 'spruce' but doesn't notice the daily grime). I can keep on top of genuine rubbish but clutter builds easily. I know nobody can sort this out for me and I am working on it.
What bothers me most is smell. Although it's clean ish, it doesn't smell fresh. I do open windows for a bit every day.
I bought some miracle potion Zoflora yesterday and already mop the floors with it. I want to know what I can do with it as almost like a reed diffuser/air freshener?
I don't put the heating on much (have a log burner) so don't think putting it on radiators would work. I do hoover relatively regularly so can try the cotton wool trick. Anything else I could try? Is it really safe to spray on curtains? Any other tips for a pet household for smell? Thanks in advance!

Good idea, Honey, re housekeeping

PikachuSayBoo · 29/10/2016 18:36

When you do the dishwasher where do you put it? In the rinse aid bit, the tablet bit or just generally chuck a cup full inside?

TheLionQueen · 29/10/2016 18:47

Ooh we're moved into housekeeping, that was quick!
Just catching up on posts. My spare room is finally free of pet smells after I linened the curtains!

I just throw a capful in the empty dishwasher Pikachu. It makes the kitchen smell luffly and the machine stays fresh for ages. Even if you've had stinky baked bean juice plates in there. Why does bean juice stink?

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 29/10/2016 19:43

Heman sorry dumb question alert... do you mean throw a capful in and run the dishwasher empty? Or throw it in and leave it until you use it again?

SirChenjin · 29/10/2016 19:55

Whoah there - wiped the tumble dryer?? Confused How did I miss this little gift?

MrTCakes · 29/10/2016 20:01

Moz I have ocd too. High five! disinfects hand

HemanOrSheRa · 29/10/2016 20:20

Sorry Ineed! I chuck a capful in when it's empty and run it through a quick cycle.

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 29/10/2016 20:25

Thanks Heman I thought that was the case but don't want to do it wrong! It seems to sacred Grin
Now I need to decide which one to crack open first. Winter Spice. Springtime. Linen Fresh or Bouquet?
I was thinking I'd save Winter Spice until December?

bedsocksandbroomsticks · 29/10/2016 21:09

Sorry that I offended some people. I'm not an eco warrior so hadn't meant to sound preachy. I was just surprised about the toxicity. I should have realised, it being a disinfectant and all Blush

SirChenjin · 29/10/2016 21:11

On the plus side, my fish tank has never smelled so good Grin

TheLionQueen · 29/10/2016 21:12

Fuck. bedsocks I said what I said because it was getting tiring people coming onto the thread everyday having digs, it was getting old tbh. I probably went too far with what I said, sorry. And yeah I notice if I don't water it down enough it gets pretty stuffy in my bathroom, oops!

Mozfan1 · 29/10/2016 21:27

MrT I only officially got diagnosed last year (pretty sure I've had symptoms since I was about 12/13 from what I can remember but I'm sure it's always been in me somewhere) it's a blessing and a curse if that's not too brutal to say. And yeah deffo hand sanitiser after the obligatory high five 😂

OnceMoreIntoTheBleach · 29/10/2016 21:50

ExH turned up with new squeeze today. Lucky I had just zofloed the toilet GrinHalloween Wink

babynugget · 30/10/2016 00:53

Good evening fellow zofloers!! Just catching up with the days events. I'm so happy we have all made amends. I love this thread for the fact that we are all normal peeps just trying to make our everyday lives a bit sweeter smelling with a wonderous potion. Today on my travels I picked up some Winter Spice, cinammon and orange and bouquet. Since then I've been at a Halloween party so haven't had chance to use them. But have come home to a house smelling beautiful because I stuffed linen fresh soaked cotton balls behind the radiators earlier today. Can we just stop the nastiness please and calm our minds with the heady scents of our chosen Zoflo?

babynugget · 30/10/2016 01:07

Housekeeping? I'm sorry MNHQ but this thread does not belong in housekeeping. Does anyone else feel slightly patronised by this? I feel like this thread alone has kept me going though some dark days (when I've struggled to fine elusive scents) and as such deserves a more prominent position. Where else on mumsnet would you see such adversaries as myself and mrt and bedsocks And mozfan come together for a common good? This is surely unprecedented and deserves some sort of acknowledgement before just shifting us to the recesses of 'housekeeping'. Yours respectfully babynugget.

wipes away a tear beautiful

HonkHonkNose · 30/10/2016 02:50

Sorry not RFTR, I'm up to page 15 but I've been up with poorly dd who's eventually gone the fuck to sleep. So I'm off back to sleep now.

Going to try some of these ideas tomorrow.

HonkHonkNose · 30/10/2016 07:07

Ahahaha I was so tired I wrote RTFT wrong Grin what a dick! I honestly don't know how my toddler functions on so little sleep. I'll probably bloody set myself on fire with the Zoflora at this rate.

Mozfan1 · 30/10/2016 07:21

nugget well said Grin

GaryGilmoresEyes · 30/10/2016 07:36

I have had a large empty pickled egg glass jar in the cupboard since last summer. Repeated washings have never got rid of the smell. Ten minutes of being soaked in spring bouquet has done the trick. I AM SO HAPPY!

PabloEscobarReallyLovesHisKids · 30/10/2016 07:48

I am making my sister in law a mini gift basket of zoflora for a Christmas gift as she loves cleaning and hasn't heard of it yet Shock

echt · 30/10/2016 07:50

This thread is full of my people.

Still finding it hard to think I'll be asking my DB to stock up on Zoflora at Poundland before coming to visit me in Oz later this year. Shock :o
