My house/Zoflora

TheLionQueen · 20/10/2016 11:28

Posting here for traffic.
My house is a bit horrid. I have pets and a messy DH (who does get on board when I have a proper 'spruce' but doesn't notice the daily grime). I can keep on top of genuine rubbish but clutter builds easily. I know nobody can sort this out for me and I am working on it.
What bothers me most is smell. Although it's clean ish, it doesn't smell fresh. I do open windows for a bit every day.
I bought some miracle potion Zoflora yesterday and already mop the floors with it. I want to know what I can do with it as almost like a reed diffuser/air freshener?
I don't put the heating on much (have a log burner) so don't think putting it on radiators would work. I do hoover relatively regularly so can try the cotton wool trick. Anything else I could try? Is it really safe to spray on curtains? Any other tips for a pet household for smell? Thanks in advance!

slinky. Winter Garden? I've never heard of such a scent! I feel at a disadvantage! So we have Winter Spice, Winter Morning and now Winter Garden and yet I can find none of them?!? Any other Winter scents that I'm missing out on? Oh woe is me, woe is me......

bedsocksandbroomsticks · 28/10/2016 23:09

Crikey, I was reading this with interest and thought I'd look on the zoflora website to see the different fragrances. Decided to read the safety data information and there's no way I'd go anywhere near it now. Pretty much every scent is either toxic/very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. The irony being that so many people on here are animal lovers as are using it to remove pet smells but the end result isn't quite as pleasant...Hmm

babynugget · 28/10/2016 23:11

Cross post but thank crivvens I'm not missing out. Although now I am wondering what Winter Garden could smell like and I want it even though it doesn't exist. Which pp had the hotline to Zoflora? We must tell them to create this for us!

Georgeofthejungle · 28/10/2016 23:20

Whhaaaaaat!! How could I not know zoflora had so many fab uses! 👍🏼 I love the stuff. My house is about to get smelly 😄 (In a good way)!

Georgeofthejungle · 28/10/2016 23:22

Toxic to aquatic life? So does that mean it's no good for fish? Hmm

CurbsideProphet · 28/10/2016 23:51

bedsocks most cleaning products are toxic. In fact, most things that humans do are damaging to the environment. What about all that bleach that people use, the amount of landfill, lack of recycling, and the raw sewage that is pumped into the sea? Never mind the pollution from cars and lorries, intensive farming, destruction of green land for high speed rail etc, the extension of Heathrow....?

ClaudiaNaughton · 29/10/2016 07:51

baby and I want it even though it doesn't exist Grin I luvs you.

Mozfan1 · 29/10/2016 08:15

Thanks for the preaching bedsock but I think I will carry on using it...

SuePerkins · 29/10/2016 08:24

bedsock if you read the information on most cleaning products around the home they carry that same warning. It's even on my Fairy liquid...

SoupDragon · 29/10/2016 08:30

Pretty much every scent is either toxic/very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

I guess you only use eco cleaning products then

Mozfan1 · 29/10/2016 09:42

She's probably another one with a filthy stinking house

Legogo · 29/10/2016 09:53

Bedsocks You do understand that it's a disinfectant?

babynugget · 29/10/2016 09:55

Oh mumsnet please help me - hand hold needed. I've just emptied my first bottle and I'm feeling so guilty. Why her? Why warm Cinnamon. She gave so much and was so young - she shouldn't have been first to go. Springtime I could understand - she's had good innings but why Cinnamon. What's the appropriate time period to wait before replacing her - you know out of respect? Or is it better if I replace with something like Winter Spice (fat chance round here) or Cinnamon and Orange. Off to don a black cape - will check back for advice on appropriate period of mourning.

SoupDragon · 29/10/2016 09:59

I think that was unnecessarily nasty, Mozfan.

BakeOffBiscuits · 29/10/2016 10:01

I agree with you Soup.

SirChenjin · 29/10/2016 10:04

I think that was a tongue in cheek reference to an earlier post

Georgeofthejungle · 29/10/2016 10:12

In light of this post I have just cleaned my kitchen with some Spring time Smile I think I'll need to get some of the nice festive ones on the go :)

I didn't realise it was good for cleaning high chairs and things. I thought because it was highly perfumed it wouldn't be suitable and have been using Milton spray. But I really don't like the smell of that stuff at all.

GaryGilmoresEyes · 29/10/2016 10:20

If anyone wants Winter Spice I'm about to go in 99p shop and could post some out. Otherwise they will all be mine. MINE!!! Mine I tell you...mwhahahhahaha "strokes white fluffy cat and adjusts monocle*

MrsWombat · 29/10/2016 10:44

Mr Asda brought me 2 bottles of limited edition green valley this morning. One was from the roulette, and one was a substitute for the cherry blossom they have on offer. Apparently it's inspired by the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. Smells nice and fresh.

Georgeofthejungle · 29/10/2016 11:53

I bought a huge bottle of a bluebell woods before. The smell was too overpowering and it took me a looooong time to get through it. My favourite is springtime but I love the festive ones Smile

Mozfan1 · 29/10/2016 11:59

Oh fucking hell. I said it in light of another poster who previously made a comment about using nothing but fairy liquid to clean their house. I'm not going to apologise, I meant it. Get over it.

Mozfan1 · 29/10/2016 12:02

And any way soup I think it's unnecessarily nasty of people to keep coming on this thread just to have a dig while up on their high horses and it's fucking me off when the thread title is very clear. I've already been criticised by another poster making harsh comments when I DO have mild diagnosed OCD. I think THATS fucking nasty. But there we are.

SoupDragon · 29/10/2016 12:05

Well, aren't you charming.

SirChenjin · 29/10/2016 12:09

A quick spray of Bluebell Wood someone, please...or is it Winter Morning more soothing, do you think? WinkGrin

Mozfan1 · 29/10/2016 12:09

Well I'm not going to charm when there's nasty fuckers coming on an innocent thread telling us were polluting the ocean and killing everything with a bit of disinfectant.
