Ok, so as there is no thread, and I can't remember or find a volunter for this month I declare summer mode operational.

This means:

  1. You are still welcome to join and post
  1. If you want there to be links and no one has posted them, feel free to post them.
  2. As technical thread leader I shall be hanging out in the naughty corner bar
  3. We'll still answer questions for anyone wanting information on the fly lady system and support each other. It's just a little more relaxed.

And with that, bring on July and crazy pants school holiday stuff...

Move? What's that then? Blush

Anxiety through the fuckin roof this evening. It's been mounting anyway (running low on meds which is a vicious cycle) but I finally got around to messaging some parents from one of the tutor groups I ran - I posted on the last thread, it was my first group and it was stressful as hell due to behaviour, but anyway I've avoided contacting them and so I did it today (I doubt they will want to continue, which is fine) but just realised they will be at another activity we're going to tomorrow and ARGH I am panicky.

Cagliostro, ime people are generally very good at complaining. I suspect if they were unhappy about the class you would have heard by now. Take a deep breath. The worse that happens is that you don't run that class. More room for another one. Best form of approach if you can't sleep is to figure out management plans if you encounter similar behaviour again. It will be ok. promise. Lack of sleep, and late nights are the devil for making things feel 10001 times worse than they would during the day and having had a good night's sleep.

I have drunk 4 cups of coffee today, my mind is racing but I decided to take an online free course and have just worked my way through the theoretical parts of the first month's worth of stuff. I need to do the practical bits but I will probably wait until School goes back in September or more likely in the new year to do the practical parts to it. There is no deadline so no rush or worries. So hopefully it will be too busy for the normal can't sleep worries. Likely to be around for half hour ish.

Hope you are able to settle and gets some sleep soon Caligostro!

ah thank you Einstein Thanks

I found myself thinking during the class that I actually wouldn't want to run this group, but if certain things change (siblings taken elsewhere) then it'd be worth a shot because the enthusiasm was there. But I guess it may not be worth it, so I don't think I will be too upset if they aren't interested, and I certainly won't be surprised! I have handled a previous 'rejection' (basically a parent decided that her DC would teach themselves the piano once I'd started them off - fair enough, self-motivated learning is a big part of home ed!) so I don't think it's that, it's more that I don't want them thinking badly of me I suppose. Which is silly really as I know actually my classes are going really well generally, other parents are really happy and I did the best I could in the circumstances. I just don't want it to be awkward tomorrow. I must go armed with my kindle to lose myself in (but equally I will at least make small talk with them or it will only get more awkward).

Sorry I'm waffling incoherently now! I am starting to feel a bit less stressy now; just need to get tomorrow over with and it'll be ok I think. It's been a stressful few days, at least in the sense that my anxiety has been high generally so I'm kind of spiralling a bit and not sleeping. And we all know how helpful that is! Anyway, off to snaffle some chocolate :o and then sleep. :)

Course sounds good :)

Course is good. Thoroughly enjoying it. And it had the added bonus of keeping my brain busy. Good Luck today cagliostro May it be better than you fear.

Bruising have finally come out in my shoulders from the falling down stair incident so that is a bit ouchy. There is a problem with the work the builders did so they are going to have to come fix it. And the clothes I need to wear have only just gone in the dryer. Which is helpful when i need to leave at 9:30 wearing them and having emptied the car Hmm Thankfully ds was very motivated and got himself up, ready and out for school without me. Initiative that gives me hope for the jump up in standards that will happen in September.

Hope Little Zoo's throat is improving.

And hope you're feeling better, Cag

SC that all sounds promising. Love the sound of the multicultural Eid celebrations. Our lovely neighbour brought us a box of chocs for Eid yesterday, which was a very welcome surprise. And yy to feeling like a bereavement - all the worse for being forced, and in such a way.

I have achieved errands - checked out cattery for our summer hols and did grocery shopping on the way back. Not much else though.

Thanks guys, it wasn't so bad in the end really. Just made small talk for a bit but had lots of friends there as well so didn't need to talk much IYSWIM.

Seems certain that they aren't coming back to my group, one didn't mention it at all and the other said it was just too far (it really is, I was shocked they'd driven such a long way). But I am even more pleased than I thought - their kids were running riot today as well, and in this case it was actually pretty dangerous (due to the activity) but again the parents were doing zip all about it soooo I think I've dodged a bullet there actually.

And have agreed to sort a playdate in the summer with another mum - really pleased for both my DS and hers that they are making friends as both find it hard. And she's going to help me with my first tax return so I now love her even more. :o

Good morning!

Last child-free day today. Is it awful to confess that, once dh and I recovered a bit from our respective flu bugs, I have really quite enjoyed the house being so calm? I'd forgotten what life is like without a labile pre-teen around! That is, without the strops and eye-rolling and huge drama! I did crack and text one of the camp's monitrice's to ask how dd was doing yesterday though... and it appears that dd has survived the kayaking without any probs at all! [phew!]

Cleaner texted at crack of sparrows to say she was unwell in night and won't be coming in today and, as house is in a shocking state, and I want dd to come home to a vaguely clean and ordered environment, it looks like I shall be home bleugh-ing and need to give fridge a thorough clean anyway.

Also need to sort some serious banking papers.

Trouble is, of course - sod's law - my back is hurting because I spent all day sat at the computer yesterday doing typing for dh who is trying to catch up with the work he has missed through being ill.

Also need to do supermarket shop and prep cold dish and pudding to take when we go and pick up dd tomorrow - mass followed by lunch - (5 hr round trip). Then (if everyone well enough) we are off to the Smoke for a few days for various family celebrations so need to prep clothes for that.

Thank you very much Cotswold! It is rather an ongoing saga! Good to hear that your migraine has gone. I really sympathise because I get hormone related migraines (not as often as I did but expecting to get more once I give up these partic hormones in 9 mths or so) and once I get them, I know I am in for a three-day marathon too. This heavy weather doesn't help either does it? And well done for cleaning the kitchen despite feeling below par!

Stilllivinginazoo You put me to shame how much you get done in a day!! Not easy with a poorly little 'un either! Poor Little Zoo - sounds as if she is really suffering.

Blue good luck with the cattery search! We have a fab dog-sitter (recommended through our vet) for furry one when we go away and it has made such a difference knowing he is in good and trustworthy hands (and it helps that he really enjoys going there too!). The good thing about having the vet as a mutual contact is she and I both get to hear that our respective dogs have had the proper injections/worm & flea treatments (and in timely manner) etc and if there is any illness about. Have you looked at Pawshake on-line (if it exists where you are)?

Cag So glad the maths session went so well and agree, you are better off without riotous dc running around ! Great news about the play-date too!

I find that sort of situation really difficult. Doesn't really apply now dd is older (well it hasn't applied of late anyway!) but I'm such a wimp that (unless - obviously - something dangerous was going on) I never, ever used to tell off any of dd's visiting friends, even when their behaviour was quite "out there" and always used to hand them back to their parents with a huge smile saying how lovely it had been to have them and then didn't invite them again which I know is the coward's way out. (This only happened in two instances in 10 yrs though.) More difficult to do that in a regular learning situation though - so v happy for you that they have de-selected themselves! Makes an already stressful situation even more stressful! Hope you are feeling less anxious now anyway and that you are getting some sleep Thanks

Hope bruising is subsiding Einstein and yay to course!! And double yay to cooperative dc! And RIP to your favourite pen. Totally "get" the pen love ... I think I must have thrown away my oldest, favourite by mistake I think ... anyway it is lost in the house .. and I have been mourning it for at least four years! Dh very kindly bought me a replacement but it's not quite the same (haven't told him that of course because he went to great lengths to find it). But I am getting used to it - it's a bit like breaking in new walking boots - you have to use them a bit before they feel comfortable.

Big waves to everyone else! I'm away for a bit now so wishing everyone a good weekend and fantabulous Flying!

I'm just catching up on the thread and just saw what Einstein's DS said about languages! Bless him :o I did a year of Latin in secondary and it was great, I would love to learn Ancient Greek. DD was quite disgruntled by the fact that if she does go to secondary school, she won't be able to study Japanese :o

You are welcome to come over here Cag and Einstein (as are your offspring!). Latin and Greek unavoidable if you go down academic stream!

Although Japanese might be a better choice now given current situation!

Well done re: bank statements Cag!

Cattery sounds fab Blue! Nowt better than a personal recommendation! Hope you enjoy your holiday too!

Very heavy weather here today and I have certainly made heavy weather of household chores. It has taken me hours and hours to do the following... .

Ta da:
animals
laundry x 2
folded towels and smalls
home bleugh of ground floor, landings and bathroom (nearly killed me)
cleaned out fridge (ditto)
banking and paperwork
helped dh mow lawn just now
supermarket shop
bit of ironing
started packing
just about to start cooking for tomorrow [sigh]

Today marred by bit of a worrying incident with furry one who totally unexpectedly - and out of blue - displayed some really aggressive guarding behaviour over a treat and went for a trowel that was in dh's hand (but have no doubt it would have been hand itself had trowel not been there tbh). He has displayed mildly aggressive behaviour in the past (especially when he was first with us) but that has always been when we have inadvertently done something to him that he didn't like such as leaning in over him too much, or walking past him with a broom in our hand, or leaning over him when he was asleep. Normally he is the most sweetest and gentlest of dogs. But this was quite alarming and you can never entirely trust rescue dogs who have come from dodgy backgrounds. Plus vet thinks - on top of the ailments we have put right - that he might have an eyesight issue (currently being explored). I know what the real issue is here though - dh is spoiling him rotten - dh needs to go to behaviourist pronto therefore and not just the dog! But I know he will just continue to ignore what the vet, the behaviourist, the dog-sitter, the dog-walker and me are all telling him [grrr]

Tally-ho one and all!

Quiet today?!

I'm feeling crap, I had a cold a couple of weeks back which as usual went to my chest and now that's got worse again. So I'm feeling sorry for myself frankly. And avoiding all the stuff I should be doing.

Other than a bit of shredding. It is taking forever though, or feels like it - barely made a dent in the massive box of papers!

Report
YesEinsteinsMumDid · 09/07/2016 16:49

This is the reason i have a garden incinerator. There are boxes and boxes and boxes and boxes that need shredding and I burnout the last shredder trying to work my way through it. I have melted one incinerator with the backlog I have been working through. No doubt by the time I finish the current one will suffer damage.

Ta da
I woke up
Knocked a glass of lemonade everywhere.
Did a half arsed job of cleaning it up
Didn't shout once and only grumped twice.

This last one is a ta da simply because the stress levels are through the roof around here atm and I have got to the point where all I do is snap, shout and complain. Even when i don't really mean too. It's not helping the stress levels or making me feel any better but currently caught in a vicious cycle.

Been out for most of the day - again - today. Very nice day, but I'm looking forward to spending some time at home tomorrow (although we have at least one trip out planned and I'll probably need to hit the shops as well).

Dd has a mad week next week for things to do, if we get through it all without leaving something behind I will be amazed. To add to the end of term wind-up for parents, one of her activities will change at least the time and possibly the day which will cause major diary issues for us - she doesn't have any spare time! We'll do what we can. And for now, there is always wine!
