Ok, so as there is no thread, and I can't remember or find a volunter for this month I declare summer mode operational.

This means:

  1. You are still welcome to join and post
  1. If you want there to be links and no one has posted them, feel free to post them.
  2. As technical thread leader I shall be hanging out in the naughty corner bar
  3. We'll still answer questions for anyone wanting information on the fly lady system and support each other. It's just a little more relaxed.

And with that, bring on July and crazy pants school holiday stuff...

Unfortunately yes. ds bless him likes to spit out his toothpaste after like 5 seconds of entering his mouth before even doing any brushing. Its a real battle at times to get him to brush properly!

Celeste the Caglets are 9 and nearly 7. Problem with them is, they really do play with everything - they've never been bothered by things being 'too young' or whatever. They love Happyland etc as well. But they also love the Playmobil, which they have lots of, and there just isn't the space to keep it all! Our house is absolutely tiny - they can't even keep toys in their (shared) bedroom because the beds take up most of the room in there. Most toys live in our room (we considered swapping bedrooms ages ago so they could have more space, but our bed won't fit in their room).

They got a Lego train set for Christmas (very generous friend!) and TBF they haven't played with the wooden one since then as it's been in the cupboard until DH brought it out on Monday - the Lego one is played with daily though, because the massive Lego box lives in the living room all the time. They understand that it's worth giving up a few things, and the promise of a few quid has helped. :) Also the fact that there will be no room for Christmas presents! Wink What they don't know is that while they have agreed to sell the ELC (plastic) marble run, which is a bit basic for them now, Santa is delivering a fancypants wooden one this Christmas. :o

Zoo that's such a sweet story about the bin men! :)

Feeling quite positive this morning. Put a few more bits away, puzzles are all sorted and fit in a lidded box, went through some more dressing up things (again only a few things ditched! But better than nowt). Need to get all the clean clothes away and wash/dry the towels too. The DCs have been told they have to help during the advert breaks as they're watching My Little Pony. :o

Gawd Caglio tell me about it and lack of space for ds stuff. I done a clear out after xmas but already had a birthday and constant gifts from Grandmothers and his room feels congested again already! You sound organised with xmas aswell, we've not even given it any thought yet we'll do our usual walking round toys'r'us aimlessly in November

I liked Zoo's binmen story too. I have never actually seen our binmen to talk to. Only hear them (at 6.45am). Hope you had a nice nap.

Morning folks!

Have a great trip SC we will miss you! Bon voyage and all that!

Zoo I wish I knew what to suggest about the sleep. Sorry it must be so frustrating :( I rely on medication to get a decent sleep (it's primarily a painkiller, which I'm on because of fibromyalgia, but it has a very welcome sedative effect - I really notice when I forget to take it on time!)

Sorry the paperwork is taking so long too, I really sympathise. We brought down a massive box full, and I went at it great guns for a few days (gave me something to do in the evenings as DH generally works lates) I lost motivation so the box is still taunting me! Still. Drip drip drip and it WILL get done.

I still need to put another towel wash on as I didn't yesterday Blush then I can dry both lots together.

This morning we've managed to make good progress in the living room again, much needed due to having a class this afternoon. Need to finish the stairs/landing though, and the table which is an avalanche waiting to happen! We don't do the lesson at the table (we sit on the floor - very relaxed/play based) but it's an embarrassment frankly so it needs to be cleared!

I made the mistake yesterday though of sorting a load of stuff out on our bed, and then forgetting to actually put it all away, so it just got moved back again!

You know what's really awful is how much time we spend just putting things away. Like today I've put away all the board games that we've played over the last couple of weeks. And I felt all proud after. But it's ridiculous, if we'd just remembered/bothered to put them away straight away it wouldn't have been necessary. Multiply that by all the different stuff we use, pens, books, toys, DVDs etc, it's no wonder the house is such a bloody state. :( It's really more than just decluttering that's needed, we need to change our entire way of life I think. The putting away bit is definitely getting more frequent - mainly thanks to having pupils here at least once a week - but still, much much improvement needed!

Thanks Cag (it's one duty visit - one fun visit - and more clearing out of relatives flat so a mixed bag but by sea and mountains so can't complain! Packing for third time is getting a bit tedious though - have lost the will to live and just thrown everything in this time - hoping for best!) Just praying back will hold out ok (not so good in car for long periods) and furry one will be ok (he is coming with us for first time ever!).

Well done re: living room progress and hope lesson goes ok!

Stillliving no advice but so sorry about insomnia - you must be so tired - I don't know how you manage to get through the day (and with long ta da lists accomplished too). I hope you find a solution x

Sympathies on paper clutter front! Have cartons of the stuff here which I have been working on for years! Sorry that's not very encouraging but good idea to do a bag or box or half hour or even 15 mins per evening in front of telly. You are probably at the stage where it gets worst before it gets better! It does go down eventually though I promise! Flowers

Waves to all!

Ah I see SC well I hope that it all goes ok, the flat clearing can't be easy :(

I'm doing my 'get up, tidy something away, sit down' method today. Should actually get dressed though as first pupil arrives in about half an hour!

Thxs again Cag No, sil finds it (understandably) v distressing and dh goes in to tight-lipped "let's get this done and no-one talk to me in the meantime" mode. Still, after this session, we should be in a position that one more visit will clear it; that's the plan anyway!

DD and I are all ready and dh has now gone awol. This always happens .. he gets delayed in office etc. We should have left 1 hr and 45 mins ago. Never mind ... .

In the meantime, have had to have stern words with dd who was still lying on the sofa with Ipod at 11 am doing not a lot!! I had to remind her that she was doing her own packing. Then I got a lot of rude/cross "where is x?" and "where is y?" and had to remind her that this is the third time I have laundered and organised her holiday clothes (once for wedding, once for camp, once for this trip) and all she had to do was look a bit, choose and place in bag!! [Harrumph, grrrr, harrumph!!]

Good luck with lesson today Cag!

Ah that's good Still at least you aren't housebound now!

See you later SC Thanks

Lesson was fab :) and living room not looking too shabby although there was much shoving-stuff-in-bags beforehand...

Having a little rest now while the Caglets have their Mario Kart time, then I must stick the dryer on and try and figure out dinner, and also try and organise some of the bags so that we don't slip backwards completely! Caglets' room is a tip too.
