I've just found out about this fab way of organising your life, thanks to a kind poster on the 'people who are efficient ' thread. I was wondering if any other MNers are Bullet Journalers? here is the website if anyone's interested.

It's only a couple of days since I started my journal, but I can already see that it's going to revolutionise my ability to be organised. I've tried loads of apps, lists etc in the past, but have never really hit on a system that worked for me. I have very high hopes of this one though (plus it involves pretty stationery Smile )!

I can't bear how illogical this is (for me).

But that is kind of the point - you set it up and use it in whatever way suits you best. If you had a Filofax, you'd have a diary section. For a journal to work the way you need it to work, you would have to add a diary notebook in at the front/back. Like a Midori I guess.

Kewcumber · 21/02/2016 15:42

I have always lived by my calendar but I'm finding that a 6 monthly forward planner is enough (so far) I'm coming around to doing a weekly planner rather than a daily one with additional pages for specific days that need their own more detailed list.

I glue a monthly planner in at the beginning of the month - in fact may just print out my months outlook work diary so anything scheduled advance will already be on it.

I need to keep using outlook because it sends me reminder and I can invite other people re work. But I do find I'm using it less now I use Bujo more. Next week will be my real test as it will be my first full week in work with Bujo and I have a busy week both personal and work.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 21/02/2016 15:42

Also thought I'd share these book darts - they look handy for finding important pages. Currently using post it bookmarks but just thought these were nice :)

Kewcumber · 21/02/2016 15:46

My weekly planner isn;t dissimilar to yours but I use double page spread so I can write my weeks to-do's on the right Bendy

Kewcumber · 21/02/2016 15:53

It's not pretty and I'm still experimenting with it.

I have three lines for Sat and sunday going all the way across the bottom.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 21/02/2016 16:38

Good idea Kewk. Going to see how this works out and tweak for next week. Usually going 'wrong' or not having things consistent freaks me out but I'm embracing the customisation/trial and error element! :)

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 16:49

I have a fortnight across a double page- 8boxes on each page with 7 days in the boxes and the eigth box as a weekly task/other list. So far it's been enough space but I don't put regular tasks in

I have a small desk diary where I put the kids stuff I and meal plans as it is my communication ok with my nanny really.

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 16:53

Boxes also work well cos I can make my working days smaller as I don't do much on those days! I suppose if I didn't have enough space I could put one week across the double spread

Hippywannabe · 21/02/2016 18:12

Has anyone found a nice cover to put around an a5 journal? I would like one that preferably has a pocket and a way of closing it, either button, popper or zip.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 21/02/2016 19:04

See, a fortnight is a good idea BYO, because now where am I going to write things I schedule for next week? :-s that's why I need the month planner thingy.
Still using Filofax so not an actual issue, but want to move over to solely BuJo soon so need some way to add future events. Trial and error! :)

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 19:10

I use monthly log and future log for anything beyond my current fortnight and then set next fortnight up 3-4 days beforehand

BendydickCuminsnatch · 21/02/2016 19:15

Cool. So do you have eg a Jan-June future log, and then each month the items from that go into the monthly log?

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 19:34

yes - but i don't generally have a lot of stuff going on! once i start getting july etc dates i will set up the next future log

BendydickCuminsnatch · 21/02/2016 19:37

And so you'll just set it up on the next page, say mid-June, instead of leaving space for the rest of June's daily pages?

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 19:51

Yes - although I think it will be set up in april. I have got little bookmark thingies - one for future log, one for current week and one for current month

then the ribbons are in habit tracker and kids habit tracker

Mookbark · 21/02/2016 21:02

I have a year of future logs across four pages, so three months per page. However, I didn't need a January future log, so my last box is just labelled "someday "
I've attached s photo of my blank weekly log. I used this last week and it worked really well for me.

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 21:21

good point mook - my future log didn't include the month I started!

the weekly log looks good but i don't do enough to justify a double paged spread per week!

it's interesting seeing everyones ideas!

Babieseverywhere · 21/02/2016 21:41

I am loving this BuJo thing. Now I got over my fear of actually writing in the darn thing as it was so pristine and clean !

I don't like the two versions of the monthy planner I tried, so now I am on a eight day week version. Monday to Monday on one page. I duplicate all Mondays, so I don't get any nasty surprises on Sunday. I also did four pages in a row, so I can quickly look at the whole month.

I am using the weekly day to put in reminders and tasks whch have a time or date element. For example I would have balloon icon and name on Friday to represent birthday and a letter icon and name three days earlier to remind me to post the letter.

Put the buy card task stays on my to do lists.

I am finding the JFDI element really helping to, I thought of half a dozen little jobs like updating addresses, posting letter etc. The thought of repetitively writing out the task, made me do the jobs straight away.

I also feel more organised in general and have got all the kids pe kits to go back Monday...which normally takes me to Wednesday of the first week to get sorted.

Now to dig into the housework tomorrow, whilst BuJoing as I go :)

Babieseverywhere · 21/02/2016 21:47

My future log is 12 boxes over a double spread. Seems to work ok. I had three events to transfer to my March weekly planners, one event to mover to April when I get to April.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/02/2016 21:55

Aawww, listen to you two, you're not boring!
I have lots do to do always, because of kids (have I mentioned we have 7?), my hobbies and now it's all gonna explode with the extension. So I think it's fair to say that I'm the odd one out! Grin Grin

We have officially moved out to PILs. Phew.
DH is over there with kids, I'm still at home. Mile long list of things to do is very near being completely crossed off but after finishing stuff in loft I made mistake of sitting down for a minute......
I'm this >< close to just curling up in bed!

I like reading about what works for others.
And I'm glad so many of us getting more and more efficient. It's very satisfying to get stuff done, isn't it?

So my blank notebook has sat on the dining table for a week Hmm and i don't know where to start, although with it being half term and being busy working etc ive not had chance to do anything AND i need a massive declutter as my house is a pigsty....

would i be really really sad to buy this as a present to me? It seems like it might get me started but its soooo expensive

Only seem to find it in black on amazon, what are the midori ones?

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 22:09

It's totally worth it

But get dotted. And the pen loop! And then some pens to get you over the £20 free delivery...

Kewcumber · 21/02/2016 22:17

This one has a built in pen loop...

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 22:20

I like that one -can you get it sorted rather than squared?
