I've just found out about this fab way of organising your life, thanks to a kind poster on the 'people who are efficient ' thread. I was wondering if any other MNers are Bullet Journalers? here is the website if anyone's interested.

It's only a couple of days since I started my journal, but I can already see that it's going to revolutionise my ability to be organised. I've tried loads of apps, lists etc in the past, but have never really hit on a system that worked for me. I have very high hopes of this one though (plus it involves pretty stationery Smile )!

TheoriginalLEM · 21/02/2016 22:25

this one

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 22:25

Is it more than the leuchtturm? If so I wouldn't bother and just get the leuchtturm or sigel

BYOSnowman · 21/02/2016 22:31

Xpost

Not sure it adds anything other than price.

I don't use a key though and that seems to be the only new thing

whatsonyourplate · 21/02/2016 23:01

hippy what about these: diary cover I've got the smaller one they do for their slim line diary and it is nice quality.

whatsonyourplate · 21/02/2016 23:07

Or this is the luxury version which has extra pockets at the front. here

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/02/2016 00:56

LEM

The one you linked is a Leuchtturm, as you said it's the Bullet Journal edition and only available in black, AFAIK. I've only seen them for about £24 - 25 so the amazon price of £17 something is good.
You could get a colourful penloop to cheer it up, the cheapest I've seen on Ebay was £2.75, over a dozen colours. Or if you buy it on Amazon you'll get free delivery as others said.
I agree, get the dotted one.

My gold Leuchtturm only comes in striped or plain (if it ever comes!) but I think dotted is the most versatile yet structured version.
My next one will be a red dotted LT. Smile

Thecatisatwat · 22/02/2016 00:59

Is it heresy to admit I use a 99p lidl notebook (it is squared and A5 though)?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/02/2016 01:31

You heathen! Shock Wink

Course not.
Mine is from Tesco from aaages ago. It's spiral bound Blush and was one or two quid, reduced, so I bought a whole bunch!
It has strawberries on it.
I have lots of notebooks, just can't help feeding the stationery addict part of me. Or maybe I classify as a collector by now...Grin

Mookbark · 22/02/2016 06:17

LEM I've got that one. Main advantage is hat it has all the instructions for doing s BuJo in the back. If you are confident you know what you are doing, then I'd just get a normal one.

SoupDragon · 22/02/2016 07:23

If you know what you're doing...

Or if, like me, you find following instructions impossible :o

JasperDamerel · 22/02/2016 08:13

After my BuJo loss, I'm start g a new version today. A small out-and about working notebook with a future log at the back, and an index at the front and a proper BuJo at home which never leaves the house.

mercifulTehlu · 22/02/2016 08:35

Aww Jasper - sorry your BuJo didn't return! I'm still really Envy of you Leuchtturm owners, even though I do live my Harry Potter notebook (which I have just discovered has a little folder bit at the back to tuck things into! It was cunningly concealed by just looking like an illustrated flyleaf Blush ).

Hi everyone!
Delurking to add my first ever MN post - just couldn't resist this thread.

Still to get my 'proper' notebook. Can't decide which one, or whether I want squared or dotted. Whether I want purple, orange, royal blue or emerald green. Haha!

SO loving the idea of having all of my scattered thoughts and lists in one place though. All the random notes I make about movies, music, quotes etc can be kept neatly soon.

mercifulTehlu · 22/02/2016 08:58

Welcome Kalopsia! We are honoured that it is this thread which marks your MN delurking Grin! I haven't fully investigated the Leuchtturm colour range, as I won't be getting one until I start my next BuJo .

I am a big cheerleader for dotted!!

Kalopsia · 22/02/2016 10:03

Thanks mercifulTehlu Smile

I know I will struggle if it gets messy, I have been known to rewrite lists. I also hate it if someone else adds something to my list! Blush

I do have a beautiful handmade notebook I got as my 'souvenir' from Italy last year but I daren't use that - it's still pristine. Ha! What am I like?!

I already use Moleskines for my work diary, which I love. The Leuchtturm ones look lovely. I'll 'handle' one next time I'm out to decide on colour/dots vs squares and then order online.

I currently use Inkjoy - I've found nobody steals your pen if it's purple/orange/pink Wink at least at my place of work.

Really enjoying this thread and it's nice to know there are so many other people who love notebooks/pens/more pens.

RainbowDashed · 22/02/2016 10:26

Dotted works best for me, although I suspect that if I had lined pages I'd spend less time making it look pretty. I also like freestyling so haven't bothered with the official BuJo. My only issue with my Leuchtturm is that the ink shows through to the other side of the page, and if I get overenthusiastic with my felt tips then it bleeds through. I love that it already has numbered pages, an index and a pocket at the back. Mine has been my constant companion for the past couple of weeks and is already starting to take on a pleasantly worn look which I love.

We had PE kits ready in good time for this morning and I also sorted out some paperwork yesterday that I needed for today. Feeling very pleased with myself.

TheoriginalLEM · 22/02/2016 11:29

Will this system work for me though? I have several goals

  • get a new job
  • sort out my house both decoratively and housework wise.
  • organise DP's business better
  • running goals (half marathon - but only aiiming probably for a 5k and possibly a 10k this year)

Would want to include my current work dates (most of my work involves cover at the moment with rota'd saturdays so i need a dairy where i can see in advance what i am doing without having to go through the whole thing)

Am hovering over the proceed to checkout on the leuchtrum but ive just noticed the conceptums - Mother of God!!!

BYOSnowman · 22/02/2016 11:36

i would go for dotted whichever you get

i think it would work perfectly for all those goals

TheoriginalLEM · 22/02/2016 12:05

Do you have your dairies set out first and separate? and then just pages for random (or not so random stuff?) im very confused.

BYOSnowman · 22/02/2016 12:11

i've put my index in above and you can see you just fill as you go along - so march month is on page 39 anf the first march weekly log will probably be about 45

ribbons go in habit trackers and bookmark tabs in monthly and weekly

TheoriginalLEM · 22/02/2016 12:39

ribbons? tabs?

OK, so you ahve persuaded me - i'll go for a simple dotted version (now to decide on the colour).

I'm sooooo excited...

mercifulTehlu · 22/02/2016 12:58

LEM - have a look at my summary of the set-up on the first page of this thread if the one on the BuJo website is too confusing.

Basically it's index, then 6 month or 12 month future log, then your calendar page for the current month. Then start your daily journal but don't set that all up in one go - start your first day on the next available double page but don't leave more pages blank - you won't know how much space you'll need. Every time you want to add a list or a page of info or your next page if daily journal entries, just use the next available double page spread and add it in your index.
