I've just found out about this fab way of organising your life, thanks to a kind poster on the 'people who are efficient ' thread. I was wondering if any other MNers are Bullet Journalers? here is the website if anyone's interested.

It's only a couple of days since I started my journal, but I can already see that it's going to revolutionise my ability to be organised. I've tried loads of apps, lists etc in the past, but have never really hit on a system that worked for me. I have very high hopes of this one though (plus it involves pretty stationery Smile )!

I prefer to think of a cake plan as a plan of cake one is going to eat during the year. None of this tedious "sole trader" nonsense :o

AtiaoftheJulii · 17/02/2016 18:09

Rainbow your titles and pages are lovely!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 17/02/2016 18:17

Oh there should absolutely be some sort of cake challenge!!

Babieseverywhere · 17/02/2016 18:46

I have yet to catch up on thread but hello everyone :)

My book has still not turned up in the post yet :(

But I have done an up to date freezer list with the shopping added.

And sorted out my meal planner colour coded depending on how much effort I need to put in. I am doubling up on all meals this week and freezing some for next week, that should make it easier later on :)

Off to read thread and see what else, I need to add.

Well I'm on page 35 and am putting in an extra couple of lists tonight!

Did a life goals double spread in mind map style so i am encouraged to add lines!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 17/02/2016 20:10

God how are you all so far into your books?? What are they filled with?

I have lost inspiration Shock Am on page 18.

I want to do a list but can't muster the energy. I feel blah this week.

My book so far is:
Index
Key - think I won't include this next time
Calendar - think I won't include this next time
Goals for 2016
6 month cake plan
Megalist (2 double page spreads)
February habit tracker
February daily log begins - usually just a half-page to-do list per day
Slimming World meals
Continued Feb log

BYOSnowman · 17/02/2016 20:33

A lot of mine involve food and meal planning as that is something that stresses me out so I like having everything written down!

I have
2-3 Future log
4-5 February
6-7 Daily log Feb
8-9 Timetables and term dates
10-11 Waiting on
12-13 Craft and house ideas
14-15 Food they like/Food to try
16-17 Meals
18 Freezer content
19 Staple foods
20-21 Summer holiday
22 Gifts (for others)
23 Wish list
24-25 Kids rooms (trying to remodel so floorplan and ideas)
26-27 Habit tracker (I should fit 6 months on these 2 pages)
28/29 Meal plans Feb
30-31 Useful numbers and addresses
32 Breakfast ideas
33 Easter holiday
34-35 Life goals

Trying to think of something I need to order to get the pen loop, which seems to be an add-on only item!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 17/02/2016 20:55

Just read this blog post - really like her weekly spread, I haven't used a weekly spread before because I didn't see the need and still used my filofax, but that one makes a lot of sense to me!

BYOSnowman · 17/02/2016 21:09

that is good - at the moment my daily log is just a list but i like the idea of it being more organised

ICJump · 17/02/2016 21:40

So I had an email from BuJo HQ yesterday and the official journals are back in stock. Has anyone got one? Is it worth it ? I'll have to pay shipping to Australia so could get a pretty coloured moleskin or two for the same price.

WhoisLucasHood · 17/02/2016 21:51

My weekly spread is very similar to that blog. I find works better for me than the daily log.

Kewcumber · 17/02/2016 22:45

Think I'm going to switch to a weekly log too. I'm going to try it when I'm back in work next week. My daily log just becomes a todo list and I end up with appointments entered in my monthly log and by future log!

Lucked · 17/02/2016 23:38

Two questions.

Does anyone have separate work and personal ones? To get the most out of this I would have to put confidential data in it at work so it won't be able to leave the office. I will also have to put some general work stuff in my personal one so it would involve double entries at times is this going to be too much of a faff?

And

Does anyone only do intermittent daily diaries? I like the idea that there are no blank pages if you have days off

I think I am going to order two leuchttrums and pen tabs. The work one I am going to save for a conference next month where I might get lots of future planning ideas and then after that it won't leave my office. I also want to clear my desk before I start and just have one beautiful notebook on it rather than a sea of paper.

The personal one I think I will have to follow the basic plan for the first few months as I am getting quite confused by all the blogs, perhaps when I am actually doing it they will make more sense.

Babieseverywhere · 18/02/2016 00:17

I am wondering what to do with the things I need to do because of an upcoming event.

i.e. 22nd Feb is Founder day. i.e. kids will be wearing their Rainbow and Brownie uniform to school. I need to remind myself to have the uniforms ready, washed and ironed BEFORE 22nd Feb.

Founders day is already in the diary. I could add uniform task to Feb monthly tasks OR put on monthly calendar two days early. Or add to current to do list WITH a date or without ? What would be the best way of preplanning event related actions with deadlines ?

This is just an example, I have the uniforms ready to go into the next wash but I am getting confused what to do with this type of time sensitive deadline task.

I have been avoiding my financial paperwork for months.
Simply writing it out on my to do list for the fourth time today, triggered a reaction.
I have done 90% of it today and tomorrow I will finish it and tick it off my list with a great deal of satifiaction :)

Lucked · 18/02/2016 00:22

I would probably put it two days before but not the task more like a question/explore

? Are uniforms ready for Founders day

Hark at me, I haven't even started yet! but I have spent £50 on stationary on amazon Shock

Akire · 18/02/2016 01:19

I have a double page per week. On right I list stuff as it comes to me in no particular order. On the left its split into days so can number tasks.
So wash brownie uniform is below get kids to wear to school but on weekly chart you put that on the Monday. And then link wear it with the 22nd.

I like to have vague idea of what I'm doing each day even if not time critical but found trying to list them all on a weekly plan looked to crowded and messy. This way list looks good and gets ticked off but I can see how balanced the week is too. Plus if it isn't get done easy to write D and F in Thursday box than to write out in full again. Does that make sense?

ICJump · 18/02/2016 04:23

Babieseverywhere you need the calandex extension thenibguy.com/calendex-bullet-journal-future-events-solution/

I've adapted mine to be six weeks because I often have lots of events that require planning.

In your founders day example
I might make a collection called stuff for school/ clubs and put that page number in the calendex
Then I the collection page write __
Founders day 1/1/2
Need to wear brownie uniform

Alternatively I'd go for JDIN and get them washed and ready wear as soon as possible.

Honu · 18/02/2016 06:55

A gardening Bujo!
I'm a serious Dodopad user, also Flyhelper and Note Everything on my phone but, looking at the garden, it needs a Bujo.
So - anyone using a Bujo for this?

SoupDragon · 18/02/2016 07:49

ICJump what do the "official" books offer that an ordinary notebook doesn't? I thought the beauty of it was that you could use any notebook so I'm not sure I'd pay for an "official" one.

ICJump · 18/02/2016 08:06

The official ones have a few ribbons, the index pages set up and one or two niffty features. But they are just black!

I like the idea if coloured notebooks because they are easier to find.

SoupDragon · 18/02/2016 08:13

I would say that you can glue ribbons in, you can draw an index but can you make the cover look pretty...?

But I am quite shallow when it comes to the look of a notebook :o

BYOSnowman · 18/02/2016 08:13

I'd just put washing etc the uniforms on the task list and not put it however many days ahead and then just hang it up so its ready to go

Could you just do it now?

Footle · 18/02/2016 08:21

I'm not a bulletin journalist but I have a bright yellow Leichtturm journal for 2016 with a green penholder. I would like to pass it on to someone who can use it, as the format doesn't work for me. January has a few entries , which I've blacked out. Would anyone like this ? If you'll pay for p&p it's yours. PM me.

Footle · 18/02/2016 08:25

How do you even see PMs on the phone app ?
