I've just found out about this fab way of organising your life, thanks to a kind poster on the 'people who are efficient ' thread. I was wondering if any other MNers are Bullet Journalers? here is the website if anyone's interested.

It's only a couple of days since I started my journal, but I can already see that it's going to revolutionise my ability to be organised. I've tried loads of apps, lists etc in the past, but have never really hit on a system that worked for me. I have very high hopes of this one though (plus it involves pretty stationery Smile )!

I mentioned upthread that I'd lost my fountain pen and bought a new one. Well, last night (whilst looking for something else!) I found my original pen - in a place I'd looked in already, but not quite delved far enough Blush

So, I thought I will get a different colour ink to put in one of them - I always have black as the main colour, don't like blue, purple is already too bloody ubiquitous in my life, green means loon, so I thought brown. Can't get brown cartridges, so looking at bottled inks, and found these shimmery colours! www.cultpens.com/i/q/DM45040/diamine-shimmertastic-ink
Don't they look lush??? Think I would have to replace my fine nib with a broad one for best effect Grin

Cult have several good deals on atm, including the full set of 36 Staedtler triplus fineliners for half-price .... www.cultpens.com/i/q/SD45801/staedtler-triplus-fineliner-36-piece-johanna-basford-set

Here is an inspirational quote for your BuJo, Atia if you can't find something, go back to where it should be and look properly this time

It is embarrassing how often this is right in the Dragon house...

RainbowDashed · 17/02/2016 11:35

That quote would work well in my house too Grin we call it "

SoupDragon · 17/02/2016 12:01

I have introduced my teen DSs to the concept of Mansearching. They claim it is sexist, I ask them if I am wrong... :)

OnePlanOnHouzz · 17/02/2016 12:13

Isn't this Evernote without the gadget. ?!?
Glad it's working for you all !!

I still can't get to grips with Evernote so may well join in !!! Blush

AtiaoftheJulii · 17/02/2016 12:29

I'm annoyed with myself because I'm always the one mocking dh and the kids for things becoming invisible once they have anything, however marginally, on top of them. But I'd misunderestimated (Wink) how deep the side compartments in my bureau are, and had felt around at the front, not realising it was right at the back. Oh well, now I have two fountain pens looks on bright side and have just bought some turquoise cartridges Grin

SoupDragon · 17/02/2016 12:33

There is always a bright side!

oneplan I never got on with Evernote either. I also dislike them because they bought out my favourite notebook app (Penultimate) and ruined it.

Here's an "inspirational" quote for you!

SoupDragon · 17/02/2016 13:47

Meh. Everything comes before housework in my dictionary :)

whoreandpeace · 17/02/2016 13:53

ZingDrama - that is so true in my house! I have "crochet" listed in my habit tracker as I wanted to see just how many days I actually manage to do any (hardly any it seems Sad) and then I have a housework tracker which I rarely look at and little seems to get marked off on that page either!

I am just back from a trip into town and found myself in Rymans and bought one of the Leuchtturm pen loops although hadn't caught up with Kewcumber's earlier post about them. They are brilliant. I have turned my rather fun Paperchase BuJo into a proper grown up journal with a pen loop. Brilliant!

I've also been looking a wonderful books on 'how to doodle' and 'how to do beautiful lettering' on Amazon and stashed them away in my wish list on there.......

This may explain why I have no time to crochet

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 17/02/2016 14:15

Whore

I was wondering if those penloops are universal. Is it a bit firm /rigid or soft?
My diary came with a loop but it's a very floppy one. I'm tempted to buy a LT (Lechtturm - such a pain to spell) pen loop.

I crochet every day. I haven't yet today and it's making my fingers feel itchy! Grin

RainbowDashed · 17/02/2016 15:24

I used to do loads of crafty stuff. I don't have time at the moment, but will do soon. I've tried learning to crochet but never had much success, might need to dig out my hooks and wool and have another go. How can I incorporate learning to crochet into my BuJo I wonder???

BendydickCuminsnatch · 17/02/2016 15:44

Hello everyone!

I reeeeally want my BuJo to be nice and crafty and pretty but it never comes out how I want. These are probably my prettiest pages :-/ think I need new pens as these are a bit scratchy. Plus need more time.

I've taken up a handwriting/handlettering/brush lettering free online course 😄 So I have that as a new hobby and maybe it will make my BuJo prettier.

Or will this defeat the point of the BuJo - productivity - and just create a new way to procrastinate????? Aaaaagh!

Rainbow If you go on Pinterest / YouTube there are tons of tutorials to get you going.
MN's own Woolly Hugs projects always need more help, so take a look there, some simple squares are easy enough to do yet so satisfying (PM me if you need any help)

And if you look on Pinterest for patterns you will definitely be able to find some projects that will excite you. Just don't do it before going to sleep or you'll be still up at 3am, pinning! Grin

As to how include it in BuJo - I suppose you could write a list of maybe 2 or 3 projects to start with, and make a "craft date night" when the time is right and just get on with it!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 17/02/2016 15:59

Bendy

Actually there's a term you need to remember "incubation of creativity"
Basically it means you need time out from doing stuff and thinking about a problem so your brain can rest and come up with new & better ideas and solutions to problems etc.

So doodling and prettyfying your BuJo is absolutely essential to achieve brain time-out and making you happy. Smile

(although it will do fuck all to getting the washing done but hey ho, you'll remember to do that anyway when you have no clean knickers left! Grin

SoupDragon · 17/02/2016 16:05

Bendy You have a cake plan! I didn't get past that...

AtiaoftheJulii · 17/02/2016 16:06

I'm ignoring the fact that I am supposed to be working/studying, and instead have been looking at more pen-related stuff ...

I sound like an advert for Cult Pens today, but just found these pen holders on their site - an alternative to the LT loop perhaps?
www.cultpens.com/c/q/brands/quiver

(Going to buy myself one when I have finished this damned piece of writing!)

RainbowDashed · 17/02/2016 16:09

Oh god as if I needed another reason to go on bloody Pinterest Grin

You lot are a BAD INFLUENCE I tell you.

Bendy looking good, I like your ideas! I'm stealing both of them. I'm gonna upload some pics of mine in a sec, most of which I've come up with after input from you guys, so thank you :)

Error404usernamenotfound · 17/02/2016 16:26

WAIT. You mean to tell me that there are loads of BuJo-prettifying ideas on Pinterest?

BendydickCuminsnatch · 17/02/2016 16:36

Ohhhh Zing what a wonderful piece of news!!! 'Incubation of creativity'!

Soup I'm setting up as a sole trader so lots to do! I was a sole trader in 2014 so some things I can re-use but had last year off as had a baby and moved areas so need to find my customers etc! Woo!

prokupatuskrakedatus · 17/02/2016 16:45

Do those Leuchturm penloops actually stick?

DH gave me a "moleskine a page per day" for christmas. It's been turned into an "all-info-task-list-keep-on-top-of-things" book but it lacks a penloop.

I've got a calendar, task list and shopping list on my phone, but theydon't feel real somehow.

whoreandpeace · 17/02/2016 16:59

ZingDramaQueenand prokupatuskrakedatus- the pen loop is very firm. There is a very strong square bit to stick it in at the back and the elastic pen bit is firm too so the pen is not falling out. I wish I could work out how to upload a photo (next project) to show you. But for £2.50 it has brought me joy today. I might buy another one so that I can carry a black and a red pen (on my habit tracker I use black for 'no' and red for 'yes' so that I can see quickly how much I'm on top of things).

Rainbow, there are some good videos on You Tube to teach yourself to crochet. However, you need to search for the good ones. Look for people who go slowly. I actually found it difficult to follow those videos so in the end I spent one hour with a friend who showed me how to make a granny square. That was the best hour that I ever spent. It encompassed so much and from then on I was able to understand the videos and the written patterns. That was only last June and I have made tons of things since then. If you can find someone to give you that one hour then you'll literally be off and running. It is the most fantastic hobby and helps with mindfulness, calmness, anxiety, depression etc. Utterly brilliant.

Bendy, we need to know more about your cake plan. A BuJo with a cake plan sounds like the business!

prokupatuskrakedatus · 17/02/2016 17:24

Thanks, whoreandpeace, I'll get one tommorrow - in a contrasting colour, orange perhaps.
