I've just found out about this fab way of organising your life, thanks to a kind poster on the 'people who are efficient ' thread. I was wondering if any other MNers are Bullet Journalers? here is the website if anyone's interested.

It's only a couple of days since I started my journal, but I can already see that it's going to revolutionise my ability to be organised. I've tried loads of apps, lists etc in the past, but have never really hit on a system that worked for me. I have very high hopes of this one though (plus it involves pretty stationery Smile )!

ShockShockShock Footle how generous! The coveted Leuchtturm. I won't take it but that's cool of you!

I've just bought some of these with days of the week. Bujo has become my new timewaster!

RainbowDashed · 18/02/2016 11:22

Footle what a lovely offer :) I have notebooks aplenty though. I like the idea of a contrasting penloop though.

I'm up to page 50 Shock
2-5 Future planning
6-7 Feb calendar & to do list
8-9 School holidays
10-19 Feb daily logs (I won't be doing these ahead of time in future though)
20-21 Meal ideas
22 Freezer list
23 BoJo ideas (got some plans for weekly layouts in here)
26-27 Budgets
28 Savings
29 Internet orders / Deliveries
30-31 Weekly task tracker
32-33 Christmas ideas
34-35 Gardening calendar
36 DD2 times tables tracker
37 Big household jobs for when I finish work
38-39 Weight tracker
40-41 Doodles
42-43 Holiday planning

46 Future days out/holiday ideas and recommendations
47 This is the start of my job hunt, a list of companies to send a CV to
48 Film recommendations
49 Book recommendations
50 Goals for 2016

Babies going forward I am going to do a weekly planner each week. If I need to have something ready a couple of days before an event, I'll write it in the appropriate day when I get to that week iyswim. For eg. on Sunday this week I would make a note to ensure the dd's have their PE kits ready for back to school on Monday.

Canofpeas · 18/02/2016 11:24

Help! I treated myself to a leuchtterm but my pilot v5 bleeds through the paper. I've been loyal to the v5 for 15 years now. What should I do? I like the size, index and page numbers of the leuchtterm. Any recommendations for a pen similar to the v5? There's an amazon review saying the frixion fades so I'm worried about trying that.

RainbowDashed · 18/02/2016 11:24

Oooh Kewcumber those are cool! My dd's have a load of stamps. I may have to clear out their room so I can find them

BYOSnowman · 18/02/2016 11:36

I love seeing other people index!

I have added
36 Photo books to finish off

Now going to add (inspired by rainbow!)
Habit tracker for kids
List of movies I want to see (dh and I always see trailers and then forget so when we go to rent a film we are totally blank!!)

TheVeryThing · 18/02/2016 11:45

So many lovely things I never knew I needed; my shopping list is growing by the day.
As I said upthread, I'm definitely going to try out a weekly planner next week, although I'll probably still do a daily log of some sort.
That blogpost is very useful bendy.

Footle · 18/02/2016 13:58

The Leuchtturm is on its way to its new home. I hope it's the right size, I didn't check that before offering it. And yes, some pens do leak through the lovely satiny paper.
New owner, organise yourself and enjoy !

RainbowDashed · 18/02/2016 14:27

:) Footle

Canofpeas I got some cheap fineliners from The Works, £1 for three I think they were. They don't bleed through but you can see the writing through the page iyswim. I actually prefer them to the lovely ballpoint pen that dh got me.

ICJump how much do they want for the official Bullet Journal? Personally I'd stick with a bog standard Leuchtturm, it gives you more scope for creative layouts whereas the official one looks as though it's more laid out for the non-decorators amongst us - depends on your BuJo style I suppose.

I now have a to-do list for a trip into town on Saturday. Ordinarily I'd forget something but now I have no excuse.

Clstow · 18/02/2016 15:43

Hmmm, to index or not to index? Do you guys put everything in your index? I've written a packing list as we're going away for a long weekend (woohoo), am thinking I'll never need to find the list again as our packing needs will change depending on time of year/location/age of baby/etc. So I'm thinking don't bother putting it in index. But is that bad BuJo?

BYOSnowman · 18/02/2016 15:59

I would put it in as I always find checking reminds me of things

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 18/02/2016 17:30

Clstow won't you use it again as a basis for your future packing lists? I would index it anyway, just in case

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/02/2016 18:18

whore

Thanks, I'll get a pen loop, I'll check if they have a gold one. I think that'd be lovely with my pink BuJo!
(Well, it's a diary, not a notebook, but it's got a soft feel cover, magnetic closure and it's working for me so far so I'm sticking with it! )

I wonder if any of you "cheat" a little bit.
I sometimes end up doing things that weren't even on any lists - I didn't think I'd have time or opportunity - and then I add these to the list of dailt things to do, only to cross them off immediately and feel smug.
Or is that just me? Grin

StillSmallVoiceOfQualms · 18/02/2016 18:37

Still in love with my BuJo!

I've switched to a weekly view as well, which has been great for half term - I've got a summary of things we've booked in, free events going on in town that we may or may not want to go to on each day, plus links to all the pages of ideas to do when we're bored.

It's working really well - the only thing I need to remember is to stop trying to list lots of personal to-dos on my daily lists, because there's no way I actually have time to do any of them. In fact yesterday's daily to do list included 'STOP ADDING PERSONAL TO DOS UNTIL NEXT WEEK'. The list was blank below there, so I got to tick it off...

Mookbark · 18/02/2016 18:38

Clstow I think the beauty of the Bujo is that you can do whatever you want. I read someone's blog and she said she didn't index most things.
I have the official Bujo LT book. Tbh, I don't think it's necessary. It has a preprinted key page and index, then all the instructions at the back. I won't get one next time, just s normal LT.
My pen loop is finally being delivered tomorrow, yay. Smile and I have pencils coming on Saturday.
I do a weekly log across the top of a double page spread, with daily logs underneath. I'll try and post a photo later, but it really works for me.

SoupDragon · 18/02/2016 18:42

I cheated and wrote my packing list on a post it note :)

Bugaboom · 18/02/2016 18:48

lucked I have separate work and home BuJo. I started with the work one to see if I liked it. Now I've just started a home one. One of the blogs reckons you should go mine the two but I much prefer to keep the two separate.
I've just done a spread on things the doc have said or done this month. It's great because I'm useless at writing in their "offical" memory books- I end up trying to do it in one go every six months. This way I won't miss anything and can always transfer to their books later.

Bugaboom · 18/02/2016 18:49

Argh that was full of typos! *combine not go mine and DC not the doc

Mookbark · 18/02/2016 18:56

I have a combined work and home one. It works for me and I wouldn't want to have to carry two around. I often do home tasks at work and vice versa. If you keep the two completely separate, then I guess two books would work ok.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/02/2016 19:35

No gold pen loop dammit. I'm buying a yellow one to go withyhe the pink.

I can't help myself, I gotta have a gold LT and save it for next year. It's special edition so I bet it would be sold out by the time I'd start using it!

I have a dilemma about how to colour code the kids. They've always had their "own colour" from birth (birth announcment cards, baptism cakes, even the ribbons I used to tie locks of hair with at first haircut Smile etc etc) - but now that some of them go to the same school in pairs, I have been using a colour per school as well, which makes more sense for inset days etc but it gets confusing.
Also DS4 is yellow, which often need replacing with another colour, and my favourite colour is red but I have to use purple...

This colour-coding dilemma is one of the reasons I don't do a full on BuJo just yet, I need to try different variations to see which works best.

I love using Staedtler pencils and fineliners - i hope they don't bleed through in LT.

Hello!

I started BuJo-ing this month. Mainly to get myself into gear for going back to work after ten years of DC-ing.

Just treated myself to beautiful notebooks and pen after getting a job! This is the pen I bought myself. I'm going to be working shifts, running around after 3 DC often by myself (I'm a single Mum, I have an OH who is around a lot but we don't live together) and trying to have some semblance of a social life so more organisation is necessary!

Babieseverywhere · 18/02/2016 22:34

I can't underestimate how much difference this BuJo is making to my life.

I went out today with the kids, after loading slow cooker with tea (Shredded Pork P26) as per my meal planner (P27) and made pancakes to serve it with (P26)

I went to three shops to get various items of my monthly planner (p31) and my daily log (P6) Including getting the children's swim passes, which ended up being a JFDI job. I sat in the swimming pool café to fill in all the forms and waited for the cards to be processed, a job I have been meaning to do for months finished, what a weight off my shoulders.

Washing machine, dryer and dishwasher were all running as I left the house.

I also pulled out beef to defrost to cook tomorrow per meal planner (P27)

I started a new collection entitled 'What should be where'...it will be a very long list.

I started with downstairs hall cupboard, under stairs cupboard and whilst I made a list of things that should be there, I chucked loads and relocated loads too. Dragged a shelving unit down from the bathroom and filled it !
Finally to clear floor space, I folded and hung my pram on a wall double coat pegs with a bungee cord.

I have a lovely clear hall...even bought a door mat, sigh. Just another seven rooms/areas to go ! Next is upstairs hall.

Having things written down is letting my brain breath, I feel less stressed and less worried about missing things.

Better go, I have to finish off reconciling by bank statements !
