I've just found out about this fab way of organising your life, thanks to a kind poster on the 'people who are efficient ' thread. I was wondering if any other MNers are Bullet Journalers? here is the website if anyone's interested.

It's only a couple of days since I started my journal, but I can already see that it's going to revolutionise my ability to be organised. I've tried loads of apps, lists etc in the past, but have never really hit on a system that worked for me. I have very high hopes of this one though (plus it involves pretty stationery Smile )!

Small confession: someone mentioned washi tape in Lidl so I had a look last night; they didn't have any but was briefly tempted by some kiddie stickers in a sad & desperate attempt to make my journal prettier Blush

BYOSnowman · 15/02/2016 17:26

I have an a5 week to view diary which stays open on the kitchen counter with the meal plan on the left and kid related dates on the right or things my nanny should know. It is by necessity a shared notebook so I sometimes do the meal plan in the bujo with the shopping list but transfer meal plan to diary.

I'm not too worried about making my bujo pretty - functionality is key for me!

mercifulTehlu · 15/02/2016 17:44

Thread's busy today! I have visitors coming tomorrow for 3 nights - hope I still find time to fill in my BuJo . We have people to stay often in the school holidays, as we recently moved a long way away from friends and family to a rather scenic location! I'm thinking of devoting a double page spread of BuJo to each visit - where we plan to take them, what we're going to eat etc.

I have been lurking for a couple of weeks and I have been using an old A4 journal to be my mock bujo, lol

I just want to know what you do with pages of out dated information or unwanted collections...do you cross them out in index or just let them be ?

ps. I am super lucky that for valentines day my DH has bought me a lovely purple proper A5 book and nice pen...just waiting for Amazon to deliver !

midnightmoomoo · 15/02/2016 21:31

My washi tape came today........I always thought it was for silly teenage girls but OMG how wrong was I???! I love it! One roll of cats with tails linked to make love hearts and one roll of Orla K style in pretty colours. Love it, love it, love it.
Best bit was informing a curious DH that I now have washi tape to decorate my bujo.......poor sod is still none the wiser!!!!

Clstow · 15/02/2016 22:23

Can I join please? I found this thread after getting a bit obsessive and googling bullet journals - only heard of them a couple of weeks ago but it soo makes sense to me. DP bought me a beautiful emerald LT for valentines and I'm slowly transferring all my life lists over. Very much in my happy place Grin

mercifulTehlu · 15/02/2016 23:00

Welcome CIstow and Babieseverywhere! And congrats on the washi tape, CoCoCoconuts Grin.

DH has just had a nosey at my BuJo.....I have a Luech-y do dah one which is German made and as he works for a German tech firm he's gone away muttering about getting the firm to have these made with the company logo for handing out at trade fairs etc to appeal to the, and I quote, 'crazy' female bujo fans. I'm not sure if he's onto something or just mad!

mercifulTehlu · 16/02/2016 07:38

I remain very jealous of those of you with Leuchtturm notebooks! Definitely going on my wishlist.

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 16/02/2016 09:04

Tehlu that sounds sensible. I have done a separate page for a camping trip we're going on in a couple of months, with details of accommodation bookings and places we want to go.

Babies I think you just leave them but don't copy them into your next bujo.

I am seriously tempted by the fancy leuchywhatsit notebook now, especially as I need something to buy from Amazon to bump an order up to £20...

JasperDamerel · 16/02/2016 09:39

I've lost mineShock

I think I dropped in in the school playground on Friday.

ChristinaRosetti · 16/02/2016 09:47

Oh no!jasper Had you done alot of work on it? Im taking mine on a train today and am more worried about losing that than the kids! Smile

Maybe someone has handed it in to the school. You could check after half term.

LovelyFriend · 16/02/2016 09:51

The first thing I did with mine is write my name/phone/email address in the front.

Don't give up Jasper, I lost my new fountain pen last week, but I just found it this morning in the car! YAY!

RainbowDashed · 16/02/2016 09:53

I do luffs it but I made a pretty birthday calendar last night and coloured it in with felt tip pens (how old am I, 6???) and the ink bled through the page . Do those Staedtler (I do wish that all our pretties had names that were easier to spell) pens soak through the page? Please say yes, as I need to stop spending money on this.

Hello newbies! Babies it does sound rather like we will have matching BuJo's, are you getting a purple pen loop? A purple pen loop should be a prerequisite I reckon.

I think I may have converted DD1 (aged 11 and already a stationery hoarder), she was admiring mine last night and declared that she wants one too. I'm going to go out at lunchtime and buy her a notebook. Bless.

RainbowDashed · 16/02/2016 09:56

Oh Jasper :(
Hopefully someone has handed it in.

Christina the thing is with leaving kids on a train, they tend to kick up a bit of a fuss until someone sorts it out. A BuJo would just sit there, sad and unnoticed. It is therefore perfectly sensible to leave the children to their own devices and take good care of your BuJo.

SoupDragon · 16/02/2016 10:10

I think bleeding ink depends more on the paper than the pen. My Staedtler fine liners are visible through the paper in my book, particularly if I use them for colouring.

SoupDragon · 16/02/2016 10:11

I can't bear the thought of losing my Book... I might have to go sit and stroke it. I hope yours turns up, Jasper!

JasperDamerel · 16/02/2016 10:19

I hope so, too. I have my phone number inside, with the promise of cake for anyone who returns it.

mercifulTehlu · 16/02/2016 10:23

Eek! Our first BuJo casualty! Jasper I hope it's returned to you.

Rainbow - I am lucky that all the hard-to-spell pretties seem to be German. I am a German teacher, so not a problem for me Grin.

Kewcumber · 16/02/2016 11:15

I hate colour even showing through the page so I use pencils for colouring.

My phone is stapled to my wrist. It was a little painful but worth it I think.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 16/02/2016 11:49

ooh, hadn't thought about pencils to make pretty colours. Hmm, might have to take a lunch break today and go shopping Grin. I need blotting paper anyway (thanks for the tip whoever it was - can't scroll down atm), so nice pencils might just jump into my basket.

Babieseverywhere · 16/02/2016 15:22

rainbowdashed

I already HAVE the purple pen loop and my new erasable frixon rollerball blue pen BUT no Leuchtturm 1917 journal to write in...weep....why me !

Thanks new haircut...will ignore old lists...might tick in bottom corner to remind me they are old lists iyswim.

Might cut out some labels to stick into my lovely book when it arrives when will it arrive

daimbardiva · 16/02/2016 15:36

Ooooh I'm so excited by this!! I've just set up my first bujo - in a Chester zoo faux-moleskine...v pleased w it already, although the pages are too thin and there's some show-through.

Was just thinking about setting one up for work and wondered whether I might be better doing it in excel. Has anyone done this? Is there any reason why I shouldn't (apart from that I won't be able to decorate it w wash I tape of course!)

daimbardiva · 16/02/2016 15:40

Oh love the frame meal planner bendy what do you write on the glass with?

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 16/02/2016 15:56

Daim do you mean with separate worksheets instead of pages? I wouldn't be clever enough to do it, but it might work. The main problem is that you would lose the benefit of needing to copy tasks by hand which is supposed to be an incentive to either do them or remove them from your to do list.
