I've just found out about this fab way of organising your life, thanks to a kind poster on the 'people who are efficient ' thread. I was wondering if any other MNers are Bullet Journalers? here is the website if anyone's interested.

It's only a couple of days since I started my journal, but I can already see that it's going to revolutionise my ability to be organised. I've tried loads of apps, lists etc in the past, but have never really hit on a system that worked for me. I have very high hopes of this one though (plus it involves pretty stationery Smile )!

Thast probably about half price Soup Envy will have a look tomorrow as I need to go over near to our TK Maxx anyway (honest)

My Daily log is pretty much a todo list but extra info (like phone numbers if necessary so I don;t have to start looking for them)

I transfer to the next day and try to do the things I didn't get done first though that isn;t always possible.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 09/02/2016 16:34

Also, is everyone just colouring in squares and bits for things done

What's that? I just use the bullet point system (I thought that's where the 'bullet' name came from!). Your way sounds very colourful! :)

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 09/02/2016 16:44

I have moleskine cahiers in my fauxdori BuJo, so I'm using one for diary stuff, and one for permanent lists, so as I use up the diary pages, I can replace the front notebook, and keep the back lists one. Is it sad the index page of that one is called "Lists of lists"?

SoupDragon · 09/02/2016 16:52

I have moleskine cahiers in my fauxdori BuJo

In the nicest possible way, that's a most BuJo Wankery sentence :o

SoupDragon · 09/02/2016 16:54

Kewcumber TK Maxx usually has a great selection of lovely note books but it is always pot luck.

mercifulTehlu · 09/02/2016 16:56

Eggsandketchup - my daily log has any events for that day (transferred from my calendar), plus tasks for the day (I don't include tasks that have to be done every day like make dinner, but do include housework jobs from my weekly jobs list and other things I need to get done).

Can you get a midori style that isn't made from leather?

mercifulTehlu · 09/02/2016 16:57

I concur with SoupDragon Grin

Can anyone talk me through the habit tracker? Where do you put it and what sort of things do you put in it?

BendydickCuminsnatch · 09/02/2016 17:12

Mine is at the front of the month, I'll take a pic. Turned the book horizontal and have numbers (date) across top and activities/habits you want to track down the side. Cross off what you did each date. I have one of those sticky post it bookmark thing so I can find it easily each day.

I might have to change my name to BuJoWankery then Grin

But honestly, the leather cost £1.50, the stretchy cord was £1.24. and the little notebooks were a fiver, that's not especially wankerish, it's being frugal Wink

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 09/02/2016 17:23

BYO -Etsy had some non leather Midori type covers, I saw vinyl ones, and it would be easy to make one out of stiffened fabric, maybe cardboard covered in fabric perhaps?

mercifulTehlu · 09/02/2016 17:27

MyVisions ahem, I think it's the vocabulary rather than the expenditure Grin

BYOSnowman · 09/02/2016 17:29

Thanks visions - I'll have a look

I thought a canvas one could be nice. I like the idea of putting the permanent collection in a separate book but all kept together

Bugaboom · 09/02/2016 17:57

Two days into my BuJo at work and realised whilst it makes me more organised I still don't like my job! Oh well..can't expect miracles.
Think I would enjoy a home BuJo much more so might start one this weekend

whoreandpeace · 09/02/2016 18:00

Further to the 'log your freezer' ideas upthread I'm going to have a list of all the herbs and spices in this house. Too many! And I keep buying cumin or cinnamon because I think we've run out.

Also, am loving the habit tracker, but I realise that I also want to run a 'nag tracker' to keep on top of what DCs are supposed to be doing:

Reading their books (this is getting harder as they grow older)
Tidying their bedrooms
doing music practice
Getting bags packed the night before

etc etc

It will remind me each day what I need to nag about!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 09/02/2016 18:24

Bendy I've noticed that some people put coloured crosses or colour in boxes on some bits, like in little 'charts' they put in. It's not all bullets, depending on what you put in.

Oh whoreandpeace now a Nag Tracker is an excellent idea! I like it very much.

nattyknitter · 09/02/2016 19:42

TeaPlease Save your last line of your index to put in Index 2 and then use your next clean page for the next index. Mark this with a paperclip or post it etc to be able to find it quickly and carry on as you were.

bloodyteenagers · 09/02/2016 20:02

You could also divide your index page in half.
Or stick in an extra page on your index page so you have a fold out.

TheoriginalLEM · 09/02/2016 20:10

Sorry but the word Bujo is wankery personified!

although i was thinking about this earlier as i needed to get a diary - not one to be found in my home town for some mad reason. maybe it was to encourage the use of bujos so i bought a notebook from home bargains for 65p (a very nice little book acshally) and just wrote down my list of dates that im providing cover at work on there, so am a bujoer and i didn't even know it!

I also had a lovely wee book last year when i was buying all my camping gear to make sure i had everything i needed, within my budget. It had a jack russel on the front page.

I am sort of jealous of the whole bujo thing but i just don't get it, just make notes ffs.

mercifulTehlu · 09/02/2016 20:28

nattyknitter - liking the idea of leaving a line at the bottom of the 1st Index to reference Index 2. I think I might run out of space too at some point!

I thought some if you might like to see my habit tracker as it's quite different to others I've seen. My most important habit is the food, but I track sleep, water, headspace app use, vitamins here too.

I've add a green dot to help find it but think for next week I'll put it on the side rather than at the top.
I've also started a calandex which I love.

TheoriginalLEM · 09/02/2016 20:36

what is a habit tracker?

something like....

  • pick nose
  • mnet
  • swear at the dog
-drink: wine, cider. jack daniels, gin?
