Morning

It's December. Are you ready for this?
festive cleaning, decluttering and then the required throwing about of sparkly stuff in the name of the holidays? No? Yeah neither are the rest of us. But let's do this.

So we sorta follow the Fat fairy and her fly lady system. We have adapted to suit lifestyles and sometimes roll our eyes at the fluffiness of the website but we do:
1. 15mins decluttering
2. Missions and Zones
3. have a naughty corner bar but someone else can decorate it this year

All the links can be found from the launch pad

But as it is the 1st of December It is babystep 1. This one looks easy. Shine your sink.

missions are here

The zone is zone 1 which is the porch, dining room and hallway. 15minutes folks, 15 minutes. get that decluttering done.

Tuesday is planning day

And just for the crazy people Christmas missions are here

the 1st Christmas mission

Oh yeah, the disclaimers:
long running thread, regulars been here years so can seem clicky, we're not. Newbies are always welcome we just as you to be respectful

nope..never going to master it. So presumably you have to know the exact webaddress to actually put it in the square brackets and it to "convert"??

I think I would have to resort to pencil and paper to copy things down.

Anyway, on a different note, I am also going to a party this evening and also have to find something to wear.

Dh has taken the sons to a Brentford match.

BlueEyeshadow · 05/12/2015 17:34

Knitting, you can just copy and paste the exact text of the link you want to put in. Click in the box so that it highlights it all, then press Ctrl + C. Do the double then press crtl + v to paste in the address and close the .

I have done some hoovering, DH has managed to put up a mirror and a cupboard with much swearing - some bits of some walls in this house are apparently solid concrete while the rest are soft as butter. We did some shopping in the town here this morning, which was nice. DH has been moaning that he's barely seen it since we moved here. Much more civilised than the city.

CantSee4Looking · 05/12/2015 17:44

It's more complicated if you use a phone to do it though. I know I would be baffled by that.

Ds is still driving me batty and he is still sorta tidying his room. I have lost the will to live but still refusing to do it for him.

OP posts:
CantSee4Looking · 05/12/2015 23:17

Room Cleaned AND Christmas cards written. Major success considering ds refused to write cards last year. A full class set and all family bar two which he says he will write tomo.

My success list is small but will do as tomo ds is being allowed a technology day and thus i can get on and do what is needed in peace and quiet. Just waiting for ds' bedding to dry (another hr's wait) my mess up but ds is wide awake so no harm done.

Morning Fledglings! I've been awake a couple of hours, as I neglected to take my (sedating as a side effect) meds last night, and had a large coke at the pub - my friends took me out for a bit last night, having come round to play my new board games. So I don't think I'll have much energy today Xmas Blush

We've got SIL and family visiting for a bit today which will be nice. :)

NickNacks · 06/12/2015 18:12

Quiet day here today Smile

I bought the Marie Kondo book last weekend and have been reading it throughout the week. It's really inspired me and I've got rid of 10 black bags worth of stuff, 5 of those were clothes. I can't say I will declutter to the extremes that she does but I definitely had a lightbulb moment with regard to a few things. The 'just in case' stuff especially.

How are we all? Ready for Christmas? I've done all my shopping and wrapping and will enjoy celebrating two birthdays this week in the house.

fuzzpig · 06/12/2015 19:00

Tis quiet indeed! I've done no Flying other than renewing my spirit and family fun. But actually that's something we often struggle with, as weekends tend to be full of stressy housework. It's been lovely.

I'm starting to feel more festive now that we've started making plans. Shopping is going well (spending too much as usual... I just love getting nice toys for the DCs especially!) and I'm putting the effort in early with the more difficult-to-buy-for people, which normally sends me into an expensive panic around the 20th!

Well done for your Kondoing! It's a good book :)

NickNacks · 06/12/2015 19:30

Lovely the hear you've had a chilled family day fuzz. We've had a great day too. Dh has been laid up so I've been busy with all the Sunday jobs but it's not been too bad. I even cooked and washed up a roast dinner. Grin

knittingwithnettles · 06/12/2015 21:15

nothing much done,

cleaned up kitchen a bit (washed last night's saucepans)
cooked lunch
cooked supper
forced dh to take ds2 out
drove ds1 and his friend to the cinema

yesterday was dh's birthday and I made a cake
invited a few more people to the Xmas party by text Grin

missed party yesterday as dd's sore throat v bad, quite a relief not to go reallyBlush

Have done NOTHING compared to what I could have, but things are just plodding along quite happily so I cannot complain except about my own inertia! Read some books today though...another plus, things I had read already though, just dipping in..

SearedChestnut · 06/12/2015 22:10

Evening! Hope none of you have been affected by the wild weather and flooding in N. England/Scotland atm.

Function wasn't too bad yesterday after all once we were there, although dh and I felt very old indeed ... house-warming party full of young just-starting-out couples! Also visited countryside briefly which was lovely. And did some chocolate shopping for parcels [exhausting work but someone has to do it Wink Grin ]

Ta da:
dug out presents and wrapped (until early hrs) for 'St Nicolas' to leave in fireplace which took longer than necessary because I had completely forgotten what things I had acquired for dd over the year
arranged parcels in fireplace along with carrots, water, glass of sherry, biscuits, satsumas, choc etc
re-arranged furniture in sitting room,
made obligatory hoof prints on parquet with icing sugar with the aid of an old horse shoe
dd present opening session
animals
church
sorted a few little presents for friend's dcs down the road
cooked breakfast - full works
played new board game
hung up two loads of washing to dry
washed: school uniform, gym kit, ballet kit
[dh did all the dog-walking today thank heavens as he will be travelling again next week [sigh] ]
helped dd with exam revision
very guiltily avoided telephone calls from competing relatives who both wanted to talk to dh and me (separately) about Christmas Xmas Hmm
cooked and served easy one pot roast chicken for dinner with root veg, rice and shredded cabbage and a ton of roasted garlic to keep us all healthy (hopefully)
made pear upside down cake
fed animals again, washed bowls, filled water bowls etc
cleared up and dw, wm and td on timers for the morning
Strictly

Doesn't sound much but baking took ages: kitchen has virtually no storage so downstairs to basement for cake tins, rummaging in box in a different room for food processor, rummaging wearily through stacked plastic boxes for ingreds. Faddling around trying to find vanilla sugar in semi-gloom. All for a cake that should have taken 30 mins tops to prep. The lack of a proper kitchen is beginning to get really, really wearing. Had a bit of a bleat at dh who hid behind his Sunday paper and said ... as usual ... nothing in reply Angry

House was in relative good order on Friday and now it is a pit again [sigh]. But this is because I have an unprecedented amount of clutter floating around at the moment which needs getting rid of or carrying upstairs to the roof until I can get rid of it. Don't seem to have the energy but needs must ...again ... more pointless moving of clutter from one location to another due to lack of storage or inadequate storage.

And dd is just at school for exams this week and home the rest of the time. Dh travelling again. Virtually no time by myself to crack on but will just have to make the best of it.

Mon and Tues = operation parcel!!

On the positive front: dd voluntarily took herself off to have a bath and hair-wash this afternoon Shock This is the first time this has happened in 12 yrs [cue sound of celebratory bugles!] Smile

Sorry that was all humungously boring as usual ... .

How has everyone else been getting on?

Very impressed that you have shopped and wrapped Nicknacks! Hope your dh feels better soon. Congrats re: decluttering.

And very impressed that you have finished writing your cards Can't (haven't started mine yet!)

Fuzz glad you had some family fun today!

Blue good to hear you are settling in to your local area

Knitting you are nearly there with links! Smile Sorry, should have mentioned that you need to cut and paste line of (link identifying) text ie Internet address, that appears at top of computer screen, just below tabs, that does indeed usually start with "www" or "https" and you then surround that identifying "address" in double square brackets at either end of link if that makes sense!

Hope everyone is surviving the accelerated pace of pre-Christmas prep!

SearedChestnut · 06/12/2015 22:14

x post Knitting sorry to hear your dd is still unwell, hope she recovers soon.

Good morning everyone. How does Monday morning find you all? I'm excited as we are getting new sofas delivered this week. It will finish of our sitting room that we have spent the last 18 months redoing. Everything is brand new and it will look so gorgeous when they are in. We have parents from both sides here for Christmas so will be great to have them in before then.

Have a great day all.

BlueEyeshadow · 07/12/2015 11:00

That sounds lovely, NickNacks :)

We finally got all the various Ikea cabinets up at the weekend, and our bathroom looks lovely now that all the bottles and potions are hidden away, as does the utility room with a clear surface. Just need to crack the boys' bath toy storage situation now. (And toy storage in general, and a way of forcing them to put things away, but hey.)

Waiting for another delivery at some point today, hopefully the last for a while, after which we should be able to focus on being civilised by Christmas!

fuzzpig · 07/12/2015 11:00

Monday morning is finding me well for once thank you, since it's my birthday :o

Having a nice lazy morning with DCs, the shopping's arrived which means I can do a yummy brunch of French toast with fresh fruit and cinnamon sugar. Heading out later as we have a few bits to do in town like collecting parcels, and DH finishes work at 2 so we will then meet him and have a very late lunch/early dinner. There shall be no Flying on my part today! Although I do have a piano lesson tomorrow morning so we will need to spruce the living room up a bit in the evening.

Have a great day folks :)

fuzzpig · 07/12/2015 11:01

Oh and SC it's typical of me that this is what I focus on out of your post... but I'm dying to know what new board game you played! Xmas Grin

Shannaratiger · 07/12/2015 11:18

Morning all

knitting glad you got the fence finally sorted. Hope dd feels better soon.
Can't see impressed at getting ds to tidy his room. I keep saying to myself i must make them do it, but ds's stress levels are still so high that even asking him to go upstairs and fetch his water bottle causes a major melt down!!
niknacks impressed with declutter! Hope dh feels better soon.
fuzzpig well done on yesterday's chilled day, especially recquired this time of year.
SC Massive list!

Ta da

Washing done
Lunch doing
30 minute declutter everywhere. Looks alot better.
Texted family about christmas presents, think sorted love click and collect!

To do
Work
Tidy kitchen
Read some more of dealing with stress and worry books, which are both really good so hopefully will help prevent any christmas melt-downs! Xmas Hmm

Have a good afternoon everyone else. had better got to work and face over excited KS1's! Xmas Smile

CantSee4Looking · 07/12/2015 12:12

Tbh normally i wouldn't bother ds with tidying his room this time of year shar for exactly the same reasons. He seemed in unusually good spirits this year, but that has now gone a bit tits up due to sleep issues.

Today I am learning how to knit socks. There has already been ripping back and swearing. And that was for the easy bit of casting on in the round on double pointed needles. Blush Don't particularly understand the instructions for the heel Confused so will only be able to get that far before going muuuuuuuuuuum fix it. Wink grateful she is still around to be able to do this, but also painfully aware that her ability to do stuff like this is decreasing so need to not put off learning what I need to learn. Couldn't have even considered doing this this time last year so am feeling rather chuffed with myself. Xmas Grin

Ah bollocks Blush Blush

Sincere appologies Shannara Flowers didn't mean to be half arsed with your name, got half way through realised I can't spell and then forgot to check before posting.

As it seems my brain is fuzz atm if I forget the links will some one poke me and remind me. We still have no floor or furniture in some rooms with half the rooms unusable. The word Christmas is inciting hysterical laughter followed by rocking in the corner. I genuinely have no idea how we will be ready for Christmas. Doing everything else prep wise as I suspect we will have less than a week to get straight when the building work finally stops.

fuzzpig · 07/12/2015 13:22

Aw, thank you :)

I was meaning to head into town before meeting DH today, but I seem to still be in my jammies and messing about on the laptop! Oops. Ah well we can visit the shops after lunch instead. I neglected to do the brunch too! Laziest morning ever. But at least today I feel I can justify it :o

I know my house isn't ready for Christmas either and I don't even have a reason like you! I shall join you as you rock in the corner, and say 'there there' while offering you chocolate, if that helps?

Right, I am actually off to get dressed now. Honest.

NickNacks · 07/12/2015 13:26

Happy birthday fuzzpig CakeFlowers

Congratulations on new addition to family nick - nothing like a new sofa :-)

And blue congrats on ikea cabinets --- oooh that kind of storage gets me salivating!

And fuzz - happy happy birthday! ThanksCakeWineBrew

I don't believe it!! The desk has turned up. Now I've got to persuade the seller of the replacement desk not to deliver that one too. [headdesk]
