Inspired by the wet wiping the stair carpet thread. It got me wondering what other cleaning tips i dont know and i do like to collect them Grin

So what do you do that you think others should know about?

I'm trying to think of any of my own but cant right now. Will add if i do.

Love this thread. I use the nozzle section of my steam cleaner to blast the toilet seat and crevices and the outside of the bowl (4 boys in house).
I clean the shower daily while I am in it with cheap Alberto balsam shampoo and one of those puffy things you to lather soap (not used on body at all!).

Great idea about the shower puff things Otanon, I'm going to try that - our shower is a fixed head and it's a real pain to get into the corners

I put a ramekin full of cat litter in the fridge to absorb smells.Works a treat. Put it in smelly trainers too.

Davros · 05/07/2015 23:38

Cat litter in trainers - will definitely try that. Won't put it in the fridge, the bag's been open sometime!

I tried cat litter in my bike boots some time ago and it left a load of cat litter dust in them which was a pain in the neck!!

I use my Karcher on all the gloss furniture in the house, I even Karcher my LCD tv of sticky finger prints! Cotton balls soaked in fabric softener behind radiators make the house smell lovely too. If I get a perfume or body spray as a gift that I'm not keen on, I use them as air fresheners. I use my hand held hoover to pick up crumbs from the dining table and kitchen work tops.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/07/2015 21:20

I use it on mirrors, shower screen, tiles etc but not on the tellyShock so you actually wash the telly ?!!

missqwerty · 07/07/2015 10:58

Not wash it exactly. My kids have a habit of getting sticky finger prints all over it then attacking it with baby wipes which leaves a film of grease. I used a slightly dampened cloth then finished off with the Karcher and the tv is spotless now.

Also use it on my kitchen tiles and cupboard doors and fridge.

Tried the oil on stainless steel today too, was like magic. I used cooking oil worked fine

So, this oil on stainless steel. Is it just a really thin coating with say a bit of kitchen roll? New owner of a stainless steel cooker chimney thing.
